Happen to be in this part of town catching up with friends. Great find through Unilocal for a late night drink. Good selection of wine. Chill lounge music indoor and live music outdoor.

I had my bridal shower here this past weekend! All that i can say is. this place is soooo freaking AWESOME! Amy(the owner) is so nice, catering, and accomidating. She didn’t try and hassle us for money and simply charged by the bottle! OMG, everyone loveddd this place and didn’t want to leave. I even got calls the following day talking about this place and how much everyone enjoyed themselves! This venue is unique, classy, and intimate all in one room! I had a photographer who feel in love with the place! This is not your typical wine bar, that’s for sure. From the pricing, scenery, music/and live musician, seating, just the enviroment as a whole is 1 of a kind! OMG and i almost forgot to mention the hor D’oeuvres!!! Oooo, idk where to begin. I love it all, the bread is fresh baked, the nuts are fresh boiled, the cheese is awesome ooo and honeycomb… ummm, i definitely suggest trying the platter with the salmon!!! This is my new weekend spot, and I’m sure I’ve recruited a few more people from my bridal shower!

Small intimate wine bar we decided to try randomly on a weekday. Service was excellent and friendly. 4 stars! Wine choices were okay and reasonably priced. Not my first choice of wine bars but good neighborhood wine bar in the area.

This is a must do for anyone that loves a great selection of wines from all over the world. The atmosphere is elegant and comfortable. The service is 5 star — the staff is friendly, courteous, and knowledgable. If your hungry or just want to sample pairing they have a great selection of cheese and cured meats. Not sure but the tiny baguettes taste homemade and were served warm. We will we be back often!!! Thanks for a phenomenal time.

Had another great night! Myself and my friend from out of town came here to have the cheese plate and wine flight tasting. The server offered us A Prosecco which was amazing, a white wine that was delicious, and two red ones that I was not in love with, and I normally like red. All the wines he recommend were medium body slightly sweet. All in all It was nice atmosphere once again and the cheese was tasty. I love this place! Just had to share it with my Bestie.

My friend had a groupon deal for Rouge. So we decided to check this place out. Walking in, I notice the live music, intimate interior due to the dim lights, and the chill vibe. They have seating inside and outside, seats at the bar, and comfy couches! For our deal we were given 4 flights each and a cheese plate. Jorge was our sommelier for the night! He was informative about each wine he brought to us. We were served 4 different wines(choices of all reds, whites, or a mix) and a cheese plate. We chose the all red wines flight for our deal. Cheese plate(5⁄5): The presentation of the plate was nice and Jorge explained each of the cheeses origin and the type of cheeses that were served on the plate. In addition, warm baguettes, side of honey comb, and hazelnuts were served with the cheese plate. The side of honeycomb went really well with the creamy cheese! All the cheeses on the plate were full of flavors! *I’m not a huge cheese fan so this should tell you something. I enjoyed their cheese plate a lot and I plan to come back for more! Wine flights(4⁄5): For the deal, the wines were pre-selected. I have to say their Yam Hill pinot noir stood out the most to me. I normally enjoy Cabernet sauvignons and it was nice to try different red wines at Rouge! All in all, Rouge is a nice place to relax and catch up with friends. Great place for a date night or girls night out! Check this place out if you’re in the area!

Very nice, elegant wine bar. We didn’t have time to try the food but it looks like a great atmosphere for happy hours in the energy corridor. Definitely a nice ambiance to have a glass of wine after work!

Rouge is first class, period. Excellent wine selection and attentive service to boot. Very European feel. Definitely the premier wine bar in the Energy Corridor!

Awesome Bordeaux selection. Ridiculously awesome cheese and bread and honeycomb. Omg. Now I want to go back and get more… Glad to hear that they have live music here on the weekends… So refreshing from the typical DJ’d venues. We will definitely back on our next date night. We had a wonderful time and spectacular, knowledgeable service from Jorge. We even met the GM, who was very personable.

Beautiful place! We visited on a Saturday evening. Great ambience, live music, and friendly service. Upon selecting our seats, the bar tender brought us menus and a tray of bar mix. I’m not much of a wine drinker and tend to lean toward Moscatos. They didn’t serve any so I just asked for a desert wine. Should have ordered from the menu. My single glass was $ 15! There was no soap in the bathroom! I hope this was a one time oversight but it bothered me that other patrons were exiting the bathroom all evening and apparently no one before me said anything! YUCK! Despite the pricey glass of wine and yuck factor I did enjoy my visit. I do think it’s a great place to unwind after work or just a night out with a date or friends.

Rouge Wine Bar is located in the heart of the energy corridor, in what I would call restaurant row. Parking is plentiful & there is a nice little outdoor seating area where you can listen to live music in the evenings. My dining companion & I visited Rouge for the first & only time on Thurs evening, Oct. 22nd, 2015. This a review of that experience. I really wanted to like Rouge, and there are — IMO — plenty of reasons to like it. First the good: The décor is upscale, if a bit garish. Seating areas comfortable & spacious. The patio area is lit just perfectly(not too bright, not too dim), & there are lots of seating choices. It’s a good place for enjoying drinks with a romantic interest or colleagues after work. Quiet enough you can hear one another, & plenty of room to move around without having to push through bottleneck areas. Rouge could easily be classified as a gastrobar. The menu is full of tasty charcuterie & cheese options, & the staff will happily recommend wines to go with the selections & vice-versa. Showcased in the middle of the ample U-shaped bar is a meat locker where you can see much of the charcuterie they serve.(Some may see it as morbid, I — for one — consider it appetizing.) Rouge even offers duck rillette on their menu. If you’re unfamiliar with this delicacy, you’re missing out. Simply put, it’s duck confit blended with duck fat into a rich spread. An oversimplification to be sure, but I think of it as a rich butter with bits of meat in it. Rouge is a bit pricy on theirs, but as of this writing, it’s the only place in town that has it on their permanent menu. For $ 36, you can get a sample platter that includes a broad selection of charcuterie items from the menu, plus a generous portion of the duck rillette. This is what my dining companion & I shared while we sipped our wine. It comes with four miniature baguettes, fresh(and very hot) from the oven. Sound good? It is. At this point, you may be wondering,“Okay, then why the one star?” In a word: theft. Read on. At every bar & restaurant in which I’ve dined — in every major city from Atlanta to San Diego, from Manhattan to Montrose — when drinking wine by the glass, servers pour your next glass in a separate glass(there’s obviously no need for this when you’ve ordered a bottle). There’s good reason for this. By pouring into another glass, there is no ambiguity whatsoever about how much wine you’re getting. Rouge does no such thing. On our first 2 glasses, the bartender waited until our glasses were empty or nearly empty to refill. Since we stayed with our original selections, I was okay with this. However, on our 3rd respective glasses, the bartender merely topped them off when mine was still at least half full(I’m being conservative) & my dining companion’s was still a third full. At this point I turned to my dining companion & said, «If she tries to charge us for that pour, I’m going to be ticked off. If that was a freebie, I’m going to tip really well.» But even as I said that, we watched the bartender turn right around & add 2 glasses to our tab for what amounted to perhaps 5 oz total of wine between the two of us. It gets worse. When we finished those glasses, she offered us both another glass(by now we’d had just 2 ½ glasses each, 3 if you consider those half-glass pours a full glass). We both declined, but she turned around & added 2 more glasses to our tab! Worse, since we were now past happy hour, she was padding the bill with full-price glasses. I brought all of it to her attention, saying she only topped off our glasses for the third glass & that we’d only drank 3 each. The bartender — who up to now had been pleasant — was adamant, insisting she’d poured perhaps double the amount I saw go into the glass. «No! I poured 4!» she insisted.(Note to bar owners & servers everywhere: this is incredibly stupid. We’re talking about a dispute over a single glass of wine per customer for a total of two servings in question. Think! Let us say for the sake of argument that I’m a drunk jackass incapable of counting higher than 3, & she actually poured 4 full glasses. What are you gaining by arguing with me? What are you losing?) The bartender had two choices: 1) argue & demand I pay(lose a customer, no tip, but keep the price of the glasses) 2) say, «So sorry for the mistake, sir, I’ll take them right off.»(lose price of glasses, but gain two loyal customers, & generous tip). Most restaurants charge for the glass what they pay for a bottle, so I’d think the choice obvious. Unfortunately, Rouge chose the former. I’m reluctant to accuse anyone of padding the bill, & I think in 99% of cases where something extra ends up on the bill it is an honest mistake. However, in this case, I cannot help but see it as a deliberate attempt at theft. For this reason, I cannot recommend Rouge, & won’t be back. That’s too bad, because as I stated earlier, I wanted to like Rouge, but with so many other dining choices, I won’t miss it.

This place is the most relaxing atmosphere you’ll get here around the energy corridor. Apart from the rich wine selection, the place is manned by pros — most of whom I’ve known at the Tasting Room at City center. I try to stop by Rouge a few times a week to «wine down». One hidden gem about it is the bakery next door. I love the smell of fresh bake while sipping my wine. A true mini European atmosphere in the heart of Houston.

Loved the helpful and easy going staff. The wine selection was lovely and the ambiance was tastefully elegant. Really liked how the staff interacted with the patrons and made it seem like they were entertaining in their own homes. Prices were a bit high but not too bad. I’d definitely return!

What a cute little bar in the energy coordinator. The atmosphere is relaxed and the wine selection is excellent. The manager Travis knows his wines and made a great French Pinot Noir recommendation. I am so excited West Houston is bringing in these type of places so us westsiders dont have to travel all the way downtown. The prices are reasonable but I would pay for convenience.
