My little brother insists that I take him to Ruchi’s every time I’m back in Houston for some reason. Sometimes, I think he wants to eat here just for the free green salsa. I usually stop by at this location or the one off the South Loop, and they’ve both been pretty consistent throughout the years, whether for dinner or a 4:00AM meal with a drunk girlfriend. You know, I think the green salsa honestly might be my favorite part too. I can’t say I’ve been to another Tex-Mex/Mexican place that makes it the same way. Every person that I’ve been to Ruchi’s with has loved it as well. I end up eating way too many chips before the food comes out even with their short wait times. I’m not really a Tex-Mex fan, and that’s one of the reasons I keep coming back here. They have every kind of taco, quesadilla, enchilada, etc. that you could ask for, BUT they have a number of Mexican dishes on their menu as well. I usually get entrees like costillas de cerdo en salsa(pork ribs in sauce), caldo de res(beef soup), bistec ranchero(Mexican style steak), etc. Everything comes with fresh tortillas, rice and beans, and a little salad with avocados. I usually don’t like beans, but the refried beans are actually great here. Entrees average about $ 10 each, so the prices are pretty reasonable. I see a lot of reviews that complain about the service or their Tex-Mex. There are literally a million Americanized Mexican places around town; order something new here. There’s a jukebox inside, several TVs playing sports or dramas, and a counter filled with Mexican candies for sale. On top of that, the guests are largely Hispanic unlike other Tex-Mex places around Houston, which is a good sign to me. I almost always see someone with a Coronarita at their table when I’m at Ruchi’s, but I’m not the biggest fan of their drinks. Anyways, the place is open all day, everyday, so come on by for some of the best free chips and salsa in town and a menu filled with authentic Mexican options.

This place I give a two star only because my boyfriend told me he liked it once before. My boyfriend and I really wanted tacos so we decided to go down the street and get Ruchi’s. When I walked in, the customer service was pretty good. I ordered the food and waited about 10 minutes to get it. I was super excited about how fast it took to get my order, and went home. When I got home, the queso I ordered had spilled all over the rest of my food from being so watery. I got out the rest of my food and realized I was short two tacos. At that point I was a little frustrated because of the poor packaging and my food missing. I call up there to let them know I was coming to get my food and they informed me they had the bag of tacos. When I get there instead of apologizing and offering better experience, I got excuses. I then asked if I could have some shredded cheese to go, since I noticed they weren’t in n my tacos and they tried to charge me $ 2. Me being in the restaurant business in the past, I know the difference between good and bad customer service, and this was not great!

Massive menu, open 24 hours, and always good service. The complimentary chips and green sauce aren’t always consistent. Sometimes chips are cut really thick or stale. Green sauce is sometimes too spicy. Fajita quesadilla with«salad»($ 9.99): salad is basically lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole. You can never go wrong with the beef fajita quesadillas. Always cheesy and lots of meat. Although, I think it has gotten smaller over the years. 4⁄5 Pollo taco($ 2.29 for corn tortilla. Costs more for flour tortilla): chicken taco. You get the choice of shredded chicken or chicken breast. We always get shredded. They dress it with lettuce and a tomato slice on top. 5⁄5 Al pastor taco($ 2.29): pork taco. It’s flavorful and tasty. One of my favorite tacos here! But beware, it’s fatty. Dressed with cilantro and onions. 5⁄5 Cama taco($ 2.99): grilled shrimp taco. Another one of my favorites. They load that taco with a lot of shrimp. I usually take 2 – 3 shrimps out so I can close my taco. Dressed with cilantro and onions. 5⁄5 I usually need at least 2 tacos to get full. Mmm looking forward to my next visit. :)

I came for Cinco de Mayo had Fajitas for 2 which was good. I liked how quick the waitress Alexa, came to us when needed water refills, chips, flour tortillas. She offered desserts we declined. It was a good place to eat at Ruchis since the other location closed down. It’s now one of my favorite spots in Houston for Tex-Mex food.

This place is amazing and saves me every time I need dinner in the morning! They are able to prepare dinner for my 3rd shift meetings which are at 5AM and the team loves it! The night time manager Alexa is very sweet and makes sure the food is prepared and packaged properly for our events. Plus it’s yummy!

Yes, I love the fact that this place is so close to my apartment. Go here for their Margaritas($ 2.50 everyday during happy hour 5 – 8 I think). Amazing. My favorite is Mango. Lets talk about their food. Its like whatever I order here, they make it so good I am amused. My absolute favorite is their burrito with cheese on top(con queso). I also love their quesadillas. Go show them your love. Amazing place

Their green salsa is reminiscent of Taqueria Arandas green sauce — both equally spicy and delicious. I’ve had their tortas, enchiladas, tacos, and burritos and I always leave full and satisfied. If you’re looking at their extensive menu and can’t decide, get a torta. Trust me!

Came in, sat wherever I wanted and they were cool with it, came right over with a menu and asked me what drink I wanted. Came back within a few minutes with my drink, chips and two salsas, green and red. Both salsas were good with a little kick. I didn’t ask about a burger because I know what a burger is and why would you order a burger at a Mexican restaurant? I ordered the breaded chicken, it tasted really good, portion size was good for the money. I can see why another reviewer said the food is bland, I agree they could liven it up a little.

Ruchi’s is our go-to late night place for some good, really cheap Mexican food at any time of day(they are open 24 hours). My favorites are their tacos — potato, egg and cheese breakfast tacos and fajita beef with onion and cilantro. Their flour tortillas right of the press are unbelievably good. The waitresses are always nice, but occasionally they don’t speak English well. It’s usually pretty busy and occasionally a bit noisy, but we will keep coming back.

If you’re just looking for a spot to get cheap drinks then I would come here. 2.50 $ frozen flavor Margs during happy hour. Food isn’t great but it’s cheap. Thing I liked most about this place is that they had green salsa.

I been coming to this place for the past three years, they have fantastic breakfast tacos, try the potato eggs and cheese and try the fajita tacos and the Quesadillas is just unbelievable. I have only one comets the last three or four times I came here the bathroom have a very bad smell I mean you can smell it while you eating. I guess I will just stop eating in here!

You MUST speak Spanish as your main language to put an order through, and enjoy shitty service as well which is no «bueno» and on top of that enjoy their guacamole which tastes like the smell of a tire… If you prefer these small qualifications and consider it as a decent place to eat at then you must try this place out… and also if you are extremely drunk and your taste buds are intoxicated as well it might work out just great for you. But if you aren’t in to all of that, you may want to settle for Taco Bell or go home and not regret this bad decision come«mañana». Sincerely«your amigo»

One of our favorite places for quick inexpensive food. The tacos are tasty the beers are cold. Weekend nights it gets packed after the bars close but it’s worth it if you can handle the drunkards!

I’ve been to restaurants like this in Mexico. Clean, efficient, pleasant. Nothing special. But good. The queso and chips are good, the food is good, the drinks are sufficient. Open 24/7, this is a fine place to bring the kids or nurse your hangover. Or both.

Ruchi’s isn’t very good. It’s not that it’s necessarily bad, it’s just that it isn’t good. The salsa is bland, the food is bland, and the service is pretty spotty. Their margaritas are your typical mix-in-a-margarita-maker drinks and are overpriced for what you get. For me, Ruchi’s falls in the«avoid unless you’re starving or nothing else is open» category.

Nobody acknowledged is when we came in. No host or anybody to indicate us where we could get comfortable. When we asked the waiter about the burger she described it with one word«Delicious». That’s literally all she said. The food was brought to the table within the first fifteen minutes. The taste was awful, the tortilla were cold and the fries tasted like they had been cooked with overused oil. The vegetables were very dry. Horrible service all around.
