Out of the three stores in the Houston Area, the Lawndale store has the largest selection. Of course this is the main branch, so all the shoes come from this warehouse. Lots of shoes and boots to choose from. Friendly staff. No, they dont follow you around the store like foot-locker, but I would not want them too. They let you take your time and find the shoe that works best for you. Even had a sale rack of discontinued itmes with very good prices. Better than what I have seen at Accademy.

I didn’t feel like I was helped very much. I had to look around and just decide what I thought might be a good work boot. No friendly knowledgeable salesperson approached me asking me kind of work I did to reccomend something. I just started picking boots and trying them on to see what felt good. Some boots weren’t even in stock so that made things a little frustrating. It was a little humid in the store so I just picked the first pair that didn’t hurt and decided to take them. My company gives me an allowance for boots and when I asked them what it was they told me they didn’t know. So the sheet I got from my job with some kind of code didn’t really help much. I’m hoping I’m not going to see a deduction on my paycheck for boots. If I was paying out of my pocket for my own boots I wouldn’t come back.

Safety Shoe Distributors is where my company bought my steel toe boots. For women, there is not much of a selection. So it took me forever to find the best pair for my tiny feet(I’m normally a size 5.5 to 6.5, depending on the brand). The men have a much, much larger selection. This location(on 2218 just off Lawndale) has the larger selection than all their other locations. The LaPorte store is located at the corner of Fairmont and HWY146, 1309 W. Fairmont, behind the Burger King. The Texas City store is located at 835HWY146 N. There are other stores up in Houston, which you can find on their website( ). All safety shoes sold by Safety Shoe Distributors meet the ANSI/ASTM requirements. I ended up getting Dr Martens AirWair Industrial boots with oil/fat/acid/petrol/alkali resistance, steel toes, and cushioned soles/ankles for $ 120. I called the office for hours of operation. I can’t remember when they open, but they close at 6pm Monday through Friday and 2pm on Saturdays. They’re closed on Sundays. If you go here in the spring/summer time, it is really hot & humid in the store. So dress light if you’re like me and take forever to try on shoes.
