I hate going to this part of Midtown on the weekends. Unless I’m dragged out for a special occasion, I usually avoid this part of town like the plague. I don’t know if I’m getting older or the crowd is getting younger, but there seems to be less young professionals here on the weekends and more college aged frats/sororities. However, I will give credit where credit is due. Located right next to Red Door, Sage is one of the better bars in the Midtown area. Definitely underrated, but SHHHHHHH lets keep it that way so it doesn’t turn into Gas Lamp or Drinkery. You will NOT be denied entry based on your skin color or ethnicity. You won’t be turned away for bogus dress code violations. Nothing but great vibes, attractive people, and friendly bartenders(who are way hotter and less trashy than the aforementioned places). Minus one star because it can get really packed to the point where I can’t move and people are breathing down my neck. Definitely a fire hazard.

I really enjoyed watching college football at this bar. It was packed and had a great atmosphere. It has indoor and outdoor seating, which I love. I’m not sure if they sell food or not. I would spend another game day at this place.

Went here for the first time this weekend, had a blast! It was extremely crowded but that’s every bar in Midtown so I was not bothered by that. Played great music and had a decent size outside patio.

I really like the crew that Sage County attracts. The people here seem to be young professionals. It feels like the other Midtown bars attract less mature groups. So, I like that you can find like-minded individuals at Sage County. Honestly, I had never heard of Sage County. I just happened to stumble into it during one of my many Midtown adventuress this summer. But, I am pleasantly surprised at this find. Since I’ve found this bar, I’ve been back multiple times. Every time I’ve gone to Sage County, the bar is always crowded with a ton of fun people. Also, I like dancing from time to time. This bar has that as well. I find that most of the midtown bars don’t have dance floors besides Drinkery and Shot Bar. I think that it’s easy to dance within your own group, but it is just as easy to meet a stranger to dance with as well. Personally, I think their music is on point. Love it! I will admit that I think the prices are a little steeper here than at other bars in the area. But, I don’t think it’s as expensive as 3rd Floor. But, I find that the alcohol in their drinks is a little stronger. In my experience, I see the bartenders filling the cups with a lot more vodka than red bull in my red bull vodkas. I’ve read from other reviews that people of color might be turned away from this bar. But, I did meet lots of different people from diverse backgrounds. As far as I could tell, there was lots of diversity inside the bar. So, I hope that no one finds themselves discriminated against here.

Awesome place! Went for the first time last weekend & had a blast. Great mixed crowd. Lots of fun. Thanks to Unilocal on helping me find this place! Will be back again! I would recommend getting there at least by 11 just to get a table because this place does get packed!

The burgers were super cheesy and delicious. The garlic fries had an awesome flavor!!! The service was crazy because of the the final four. We sat outside since they have HUGE tvs but there were people smoking everywhere :(

I was shocked by the price of drinks here– even for midtown. We got 8 shots of what was not patron and they were about 11 dollars a piece… OK. These shots elsewhere are typically 7 – 8 $ Then later tried to order lemon drops– thinking that’s the standard well vodka cheap shot… No, 7.50 a piece?! I’ve never paid more than 6 $ anywhere ever for a lemon drop? Maybe they made there’s with some kind of vodka other then well but if that’s the case they should ask you. Overall I like that they had the jumbo jenga games and an outdoor patio and would give them another chance — but probably stick to beer.

What’s the deal with this place? We came out a couple weekends ago on a crawl that used to include hitting up Wonder Bar before Red Door and figure red we’d give it a chance Wonder Bar was always a shit show but at least it was a fun shit show. Our bartender(I think his name was Scott) was kind of a jerk. Cool enough concept(games, unique style) but everyone on the staff seemed miserable… Definitely not the fun pregame we had in mind to get us prepared for a night at Red Door and Shot Bar.

I came here for an organized college alumni happy hour on a weekday. I had never heard of this bar before that day, and as I understand it is fairly new, so I was excited to have a new bar adventure. I was immediately struck by how big the place was… And how empty it was at 6:00 when I arrived… I’m never in midtown anymore for HH but it seemed a little odd. Anyway, it filled up as the night went on, but I wonder how many people would be there if there wasn’t a big organized event. No that that’s bad or anything, it just makes me wonder. Anyway! The happy hour prices were good, I thought. I had a guns &oil beer for $ 3, which I liked. It was served in a heavy duty red solo cup, which I though was charming and added to the laid-back Texas feel this establishment is going for. I’m not sure how it feels on weekends(I can only assume it feels just the same as any other midtown bar), but at least during weekday happy hours it accomplishes a casual cleaned-up country kind of feeling. I’ve seen a few other reviews online about how people of color were turned away, which I think is terrible and hopefully won’t happen again, but when I was there I met people of all races/ethnicities and no racial group seemed to be absent. So… Take that for what you want, I guess? I’m never in midtown any more, but I’d definitely come back to a happy hour here!

If you are interested in a live viewing of RACIALPROFILING, this is the bar for you. For my friend’s 24th birthday tonight we decided to go out to midtown and found ourselves at Sage County. Her fiancé(A black male) was told that his pants were«too baggy.» To pant the picture, the man we are talking about is 5’8″ and weighs no more than 140 lbs. He backs away from the entry. I casually asked the bouncer why he was turned away and when given the reason, I politely asked if there was an owner/manager I could speak with. I was told that he had just passed in a pink shirt. The manager, I clearly recalled and later recorded, was wearing pants more loose fitting than the man turned away from his own bar. This is when things got out of hand. I was told the manager would come back. He didn’t. I asked to enter myself. The bouncer held the line to avoid me until he had no choice but to let me in. When inside I quickly spotted the owner and asked, «Excuse me, may I speak with you for a moment?» He looked at me and answered, «No.» I was shocked. I stood at the entrance waiting to be able to ask him again when he(the owner) looked at me and said«She’s got to go.» All of a sudden, two police officers who had watched us be turned away from the line and had verbally admitted seeing no difference in the pants of the owner and the pants of the gentleman turned away entered the bar and asked me to leave. I looked the officer in the eye and asked, «Really?» He explained that if I stayed, I would be trespassing. I asked him again and he sheepishly stood back knowing that what was happening was inhumane. None the less I was asked to leave for simply asking why my friend was turned away. I suppose we weren’t privileged enough to celebrate at Sage County. Liquor is everywhere. The music is all the same. Just choose another bar.

They only have one(terrible) beer on tap and the bar tender doesn’t know how to make standard cocktails. Gimlets, old fashioneds, etc. Clueless

I came here for a Bourbon and Bacon event on a Thursday evening and was very impressed with this place. The remodel is fabulous. It’s a casual Texas theme. There is great outdoor seating with 4 large booths big enough for a group. From«Friends in Low Places» to some Cross Canadian tunes, Country Music of many eras was played throughout. What’s fun about this place is it’s casual attitude and no frills menu. Their cups are a very cute insulated cup resembling a red solo cups, and they sell Boone’s Farm and Moonshine. We even ordered a bottle of Boone’s and requested a bucket of ice so we could have some redneck bottle service. It was quite enjoyable! We will be back for sure.

You know you’re in a dive bar when Johnny Cash is giving you the one finger salute when you walk in the front door. Gone is Wonder Bar and in it’s place is a place that I wonder if it will last. I suppose that because Midtown is so popular that this bar will survive for awhile, but with no bar bites and Boone’s Wine served as a regular wine offering, I’m not so sure about this place. Sage County is so new that they don’t even have signage on the outside of the building yet. I got a tip from a client that sold them some of their specialty alcohol, otherwise, I would have never realized that this small bar was squeezed in the corner between Midtown Drinkery and Cook & Collins. The upside, you can still get a seat at the bar, or for that matter anywhere you want to sit; the downside, as soon as the Midtown crowd figures out this place is here, you won’t be able to get in. The only thing drawing your attention to this small little bar is the expansive outdoor lounge area and the smell of fresh wood wafting out the front door and on to the sidewalk. The walls, floors, and all of the outdoor tables are made from wood, and it’s so new that it smells of a logging factory. It’s actually a really nice aromatic smell, until all the drunks spill beer all over the floors, puke on the walls, and put their cigarette butts out on the tables, so enjoy that new wood smell while it lasts. Once you’re past the doorman, Johnny is to your right, and the outdoor seating is to your left. There are two long bars along the right side of this place with one when you first walk in and the second being tucked in the back. A few lounge seats are available inside, but they look more like patio furniture that should be sitting on your grandma’s porch. Uncomfortable metal barstools line both bars, so don’t make yourself too comfortable on these seats. This place doesn’t really offer anything different that the other bars in town, but they do have their own logo printed on their washable inspired red solo cups. It gives those wanting to reminisce about their college days a chance to relive it with these very durable cups. Before you get too excited, these durable red solo cups are for tap beer only, otherwise you will be served your drink in a glass or the bottle the beer comes in. For a small bar, they actually do have quite a bit of seating at the bars, a few lounge spots and ample seating outside. Personally, dive bars are just not for me. If a dive bar is your thing, then you will love this place, but it was just a very ok experience that made me want to leave as quickly as I walked in. They do have nice bartenders and they do carry a lot of Texas and local selections, but that’s not enough to bring me back for more.
