I feel like an idiot for even coming here. If people could literally take a vote to bulldoze this place it would have been gone already. Shitty service. Shitty door guy. Shitty management. Racist. Sums it up. Still waiting to talk to the manager now. Still waiting. It’s been an hour. Stiiiiiiiiillll waiting.

It’s no surprise that this hellhole has so many negative reviews, video showing their blatantly racist doormen: here: here: and a FB post here: But it gets worse. Much worse. A 21 year old woman had her drink spiked the evening of Saturday April 30th, 2016, and subsequently passed out in the bathroom. THEYLOCKEDUPWITHHERSTILLINTHEBATHROOM. When she awoke the NEXTMORNING, she had to BREAK out. Mercifully a good Samaritan noticed her walking barefoot, with a car following her(!) and called the police. This young woman spent a few hours in the ER that day, thanks to the NEGLIGENCE on the part of the club owners. You maybe could have redeemed yourself, Gaslamp, by apologizing, showing some actual concern, offering to cover the cost of her ER visit, and promising to educate all employees so that this doesn’t happen again to someone else. But here’s where it gets even worse. One of the owners is now asking the young woman to sign an affidavit saying that the bar is NOTRESPONSIBLE for what happened to her. WHAT *BAR* DOESN’T KNOWTOCHECKTHEBATHROOMSBEFORETHEYLOCKUPANDGOHOME? You ARE responsible, and she could have DIED in there! My local LIBRARY checks the bathrooms when they lock up, and they don’t serve drinks and stay open until 2am! Gaslamp obviously has ZERO regard for the safety of their young female customers, which make up, according to most of these reviews, a large part of their business. NOTOKAY, GASLAMP! If anyone else had a similar experience at this bar on that night, or any other night, please report it to the police immediately. DONOT patronize Gaslamp, it is not safe for women, and not accepting of minorities. You know what to do Unilocalers. Make this go viral, this place needs to disappear. Flood their Facebook page:

I’m from Chicago and love the night life scene so I figured out check this place out. My first impression was«wow it’s packed!» Once you get in its a younger crowd. The people at the doors were pretty rude. Went here on a Saturday night so that’s understandable. Payed the extra $ 10 to get to the second floor. It wasn’t packed at all. There were 10 people at midnight on the dance floor. Everybody was on the roof talking and drinking. Here’s my favorite part. I didn’t drink liquor so when I was ordering my non alcoholic drinks and tipping double so the bartenders wouldn’t get upset. I checked my bank account yesterday(Tuesday). This is me keeping my credit card(not open tab) I see a charge of $ 1862.73. So just a heads up unless you are wanting to regret the moment you walked into a place. Don’t go here.

I had a blast last night in midtown and had joined an event called«Bar Crawl Nation». The event started at 4pm and ended at 12am. During that time, 11 bars participated in this event allowing participants to get exclusive $ 3 drinks and«free cover». With the awesome exclusive deals, the ticket only costed me under $ 20. I’ve bar hopped through 10 bars with no problems at all and drank all that I can drink. The only problem I had were waiting in long lines and squeezing through people in crowded bars. All was good until I stopped at gaslamp. Here, the line was short and it looked pretty dead inside as if everyone was avoiding the place. As I proceeded in line and met with the bouncer, he ignored my event pass and demanded $ 10 for cover. At first I thought he was joking because why would I pay for a ticket that grants me «free cover» and still get charged a cover fee? So I kinda laughed it off and tried to make my way in like a drunk fool haha but I was immediately stopped by a backup bouncer that came out of no where. So at this point, I realized they were serious and that they mean business because maybe they really needed that cover money to make up for their deserted bar. I was pretty buzzed at the time so my dumb self still wanted to get in and pay up. But luckily my friends dragged me out and had my $ 10 well spent at another bar. Although I didn’t get to fully experience what gaslamp was like, I still had a great night. The only regrets I have is that I could have met my future wife there but who knows… and that kids, is the story of «How I Almost Met Your Mother».

Ugh, places like this is why I don’t go to bars in midtown. You walk past a rather judgmental looking doorman into a room of pretentious people and pricey drinks. Eh, so 3 starts… pretty much most mid-town/Washington type bars. So why take off an extra star, because to get upstairs to the«better» part you have to pay a cover of «about» $ 10… why«about»? because the price is different depending who you are and what the guy at the door thinks of you. I’ll pass… but I’ve been to worse.

Man forget this trashy place. They wouldn’t let my girl in because she had on boots. But you got preppy dudes wearing vans and sandals with no socks. Ok cool it’s whatever, there is too many bars in midtown to come here.

Went to Gaslamp for New Years with my best friends. I opened a tab and ordered lots of drinks. I mean, I’m talking about $ 300 -$ 400 worth of drinks. At the end of the night, I found out that they lost my card. After waiting for 20 minutes for them to find my card they tell me I don’t even have a tab open. I’m like«great! Free drinks» only to find out later the bartender lost it on purpose . Like thanks for the free drinks but I wish costumer service was better. Hack, I wish the drinks were better. All the beers we’ve had were not cold enough. Maybe if she(the bartender) wasn’t drunk, we could’ve had a better experience. She was trying to explain to me what happened with my debit card in Spanish, I don’t even speak Spanish. That’s how drunk she was . After I left, my friend told me he also had free drinks all night. So that’s like $ 600 worth of drinks for all of us. Happy New Years to us! Too bad about the horrible drinks/service! Ps: I almost forgot about the horrible hookah!

Review your credit card bill the next day. My tab was 45 dollars i gave a $ 10 tip and left. Next day i see a charge for $ 100 even. Apparently the bar tender decided to give himself a $ 55 tip. .lol. i called my card and had the charge reported as fraud. They said they would adjust the transaction to $ 55 and send a dispute to the merchant. Never heard anything from Gas Lamp. crooks!

I’ll try and give this place a fair and unbiased review Pros: Free ski ball. This has been added recently, and it was pretty awesome. This place also has giant Jenga, a nice outdoor area, and jugs of water that they infuse with fruit. I’ve never had a bad time here. The female bartenders also are very nice, although they are not familiar with classic cocktails. Cons: I went here last weekend and before I came in there was a drunk guy behind the bouncers asking to see people’s ID’s a second time. This led to a lot of confusion from the patrons and the bouncers were not doing much about it. When I showed my ID to go in the drunk guy stood in front of me and told me I needed to show my ID again. I just stared right back and told him no. Then the bouncers grabbed the guy and told him he could not do that. But they didn’t kick him out, he just kept hanging around the bouncers. I could see how a fight could start in this place pretty easily. The people inside also seem pretty snotty. I asked if I could play Jenga with my wife after another group was done and they got kind of condescending. I know Gaslamp can’t help their clientele, but there seems to be a trend there. Later on in the night I went to Little Woodrow’s and easily grabbed another couple to play cornhole together. I don’t understand why people can’t just be chill.

Last Halloween I had a blast here! Everything was done up nice and there was so much tacos de nalga. the beers were cold and there seemed to be more people outside than inside. Me and my friends went dressed as the mighty morphing Power Rangers, I went as the White Ranger, the other Rangers weren’t so lucky getting past security.

We were planning an event and already booked for Saturday. Now Google Review is showing the venue is permanently closed and no one is calling us back. Unlike most reviewers this would have been our first visit. Judung from the current bad press and lack of response I hope we are allowed to cancel our reservation without penalty. As we are all traveling I want this to be a fun experience. I hope they contact me soon.

Went here this past weekend and had a good time. I was of course shocked when I read the reviews afterwards. We were a pretty diverse group of people. There was me, a Latina and 2 black guys. We did get eyeballed to get in, but we were not charged a cover. Also, the bartenders were super cool(we hung out on the third floor). Now moving on to the place, it is three levels and the third is my favorite. There is a nice size deck where you have a great view and they even had a game area. When a fight broke out, security was on it quick. Overall, we all enjoyed it. It sucks to see that they are so discriminatory. Very glad our group didn’t get that treatment.

This place sucks. Glad to see other people staring to notice. Walked to the door with my white wife(I’m brown) and she walked right in, then I’m told 20 bucks because I didn’t have a jacket… «A jacket?» I said. «Nobodies wearing jackets» then the door guy just gave me a smug face. We walked away. My wife didn’t want to stay after that. It was so open about their white only bar that if felt like that’s just the way things are in TX, but I didn’t let it ruin our night. We went to little Woodrow’s and were welcomed with open arms for being people, not for being a race. Little Woodrow’s made the whole night better and the crowd was awesome and having fun. Is one star the lowest you can go?

Attended a networking event for work last Friday. Well-organized event with a greeter and name tags. Bartenders were friendly though they gave me a full-cal coke instead of the DIET coke I ordered. Bathrooms are industrial chic(with automatic water, soap, paper towels) and TONS of mirrors inside and outside. There is a patio area and game area neither of which I utilized. Um… This place has 1.5 stars– yikes. I’d hate to be here on a busy day. I give it a 2.

I was visiting Houston not too long ago and stopped by here with some friends. The night started somewhat rough — my 2 friends were inside waiting for me and had texted me that it was free to come in. But when I came to the bouncer, he asked me to pay $ 20, which I found odd considering it was barely 9pm. So not wanting to argue, I paid the bartender(although in retrospect, in looking at various Unilocal reviews, I think I may have also been a victim of their discriminate business practices). That said, I attempted to order a drink from the bar, and there were only like 4 – 5 people around the bar. It took about 17 minutes for the bartender to acknowledge me, and when I ordered, it probably took another 10 minutes to get my drink. So in total, 30 minutes to get my drink. Comparatively, San Francisco bartenders have to deal with larger crowds and are able to deliver quicker. In terms of the drink: horrible. Sorry, Gaslamp — hate to say this, but probably the worst drink I’ve had since graduate school. The drink was extremely sour and was probably 3⁄5 of the way full. So that wasn’t a very good experience at all. The ambience was not what I imagined. The bartenders were consistently making my friends switch from one corner to another corner of the place. It was a bit strange. We left after about an hour or so. Bad vibes. Bad drinks. Bad ambience. And now, after reading several reviews, I’m starting to wonder why I got charged $ 20 and none of my friends were…

So I really wanted to give them zero fucking stars but obv that wasn’t possible. Anyways this place is not really even worth stopping by. The door men are pretty racist and shallow, perfect bouncers to the club huh? so if you’re HOT you’re good, but if you’re OK and you are not white you’re SCREWED. This place is full of lame white people that can’t even get down and dance. Music is so boring, they play Taylor Swift like really why are you playing this at a bar/club/lounge. They have an outside patio with bubbles(YAY) everywhere and a big ass screen with whatever white people like to watch, probably some football who knows. Oh yeah the drinks suck, they couldn’t even get me a little tipsy and I’m Asian. So they’re cheap too bc they be stingy with their alcohol. If you’re looking for a way to spend a boring weekend and listen to some boring white girl music this place is perfect for you!

As a Houston native that hung out in midtown before it was cool, I’m proud to know most of the bar owners and doormen in the area I’m the person that get evil looks from folks waiting in line because I typically walk to the front and get let right in. Never have I ever had to wait in line at a bar in midtown, or downtown for that matter, except for Gas Lamp, where a doorman with an inferiority complex wouldn’t let me in without heels. None of my friends are shorter than 5’10, and I’m personally 6’0 feet tall. Without heels, I was taller than both the door guys standing on top of each other. I save my heels for nights at fancy clubs, not midtown bars where I’m more likely to run into a kid I used to babysit than an NBA player. Furthermore, my flats were Ferragamo, and they probably cost more than the shitty bottle service at this establishment. The girls they they DID let in, were proudly clad in clearance rack H&M, and Bakers shoes. Classy place. Houston bar owners that think they will be successful without minorities, let this be a lesson – rich minorities run Houston. Discriminate, and I promise you won’t last long. Just ask Sawyer Park :)

Wow. My jaw is seriously dropped that so many people have experienced this. I was too pissed off to ever write my review and looking at all the others, it’s probably going to sound redundant. I was hanging out with my friend Peter and we decided to meet some of his friends here. They got in, no problem. Peter is Asian, I’m Mexican. The bouncer decided to charge us $ 20 each. We looked at each other, then him and pointed out how so many other people had gone in unbothered. He said yeah, but you guys have to pay $ 20 each. I’m obviously oblivious because at first it didn’t click. I thought it was because we were guys walking in without girls, but plenty of guys were walking in for free. White guys. Then we saw him tell a couple of middle eastern girls to wait, I guess to charge them after us. Not cool at all. Fuck this place. Excuse the language. Any good reviews are probably from people who work there or know someone who does.

My first one star review. Who knew it would be to a bar? Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised, but I am surprised this place still can do business the way they do. Is it not messed up they can target people to pay a cover and others not? I was one of those who sadly had to pay a $ 10 cover, but my friends did not. I have heard from my Houston friends they also turn many people away for their«shoe attire». I am sorry, what is this? Discrimination? Yes. There are so many other great bars in Midtown, why deal with the crap of this place, when you can have fun at one of the adjacent bars?
