Settlers Hardware

I have shopped with Susan Neptune (the owner) for years; even before this a amazing location. Her knowledge is second to none coupled with her quality and vast selections, you will feel as though you have found the Holy Grail of hardware. The staff is a bit unique but with your patience in check you will find them, to bend over backwards to be helpful. Keep in mind you are going to an actual antique hardware company, the prices with dictate that reality.

i called settlers after being told by several furniture dealers and locksmiths, that settlers may have a matching skeleton key for my Baker milling road desk… after trying several locksmiths close to my house.
i finally called them to inquire,(its a far drive so i wanted to confirm). and the owner happened to answer, the store was actually closed, but she happend to walk back in to the store to get a customers delivery. and she answered the phone!.. she spoke with me for a good 10 minutes and explained exactly what measurements i needed to start finding a fitting key, and best of all. they allow customers to take 15 or so keys home to check for fit and bring the ones back that don’t fit, and just purcahse the one you need! My jaw almost dropped, THIS IS WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ALL ABOUT…
i’m so thrilled, it’s open limited hours. i believe thurs fri and sat… but i’m on my way right now and will recommend them from now on. i couldn’t believe that after being told by several locksmiths. that i couldn’t try out their sample keys, even if i paid by the hour for use of the sample keys and left my credit card etc. that i would have to pay 85 dollar trip fee.20 for them to open the desk and then 35 dollar for a key to be made. I hate feeling gouged!.. and i was about to give up, thank goodness i finally called settlers…

So I called, to ask some questions. The lady basically told me she had people standing in front of her, she felt rude and to call her back and then hung up. No bye nothing. I had called the competition first. VERY VERY helpful and friendly. It would have been nice for this lady to have at least invited me to come in or taken my name. It is very difficult to want to shop somewhere when phone service is not friendly or inviting and warm.
