This was my first phở experience. Loved it. I will be back.. Definitely need more parking though. But it’s that good, and great prices with free coffee Tuesday.

I love this place so much! Definitely the best phở I’ve had. I come here more often than my wallet would like… At least once every couple weeks, sometimes twice in one week because it’s so delicious. The flavors are on point. Before I was vegan I would get the p1, 11, 12, and 14. The egg rolls are bomb. Since I’ve gone vegan I’ve actually fallen even harder for this spot. Their vegan phở is sooooo good! Full of veggies– I usually ask for no tofu cuz I’m normally not a tofu person. THAT being said I love their tofu bahn mi, you can even add avo. Spring rolls are also on point, shrimp /tofu /whatever floats your boat.

Very authentic phở! My mom ordered the chicken phở since she’s always gotten the chicken phở at Les Givrals, which is just down the street from Simply Phở. We love Les Givrals, don’t get me wrong. We only decided to come to Simply Phở, because we had a Groupon deal for $ 20 value after paying only $ 12. But man, from the rice paper spring roll to the last spoonful of the phở, Simply Phở demonstrated a unique flavor that Les Givrals doesn’t have. Simply Phở and Les Givrals are both tasty places if you’re looking for a comforting bowl of phở, vermicelli, etc. They just have… I guess, different flavors. Personally, my mom’s first impression was that Simply Phở’s broth is more authentic. The broth might not be as flavorful as that at Les Givrals, but there’s something more subtle that feels right and hits the spot right on. I ordered the chargrilled beef vermicelli, which is simply delicious, as well. I mixed in the sweet orange fish sauce and some of the peanut sauce from our spring rolls, making the vermicelli even better! I don’t usually order beef, so I can’t comment on the quality of the beef. Still, it seemed pretty good. Cons: –slightly smaller portions compared to other vietnamese phở places –cashier was very confusing when we went up to pay — she told us the total and then told us the tip. This is a minor detail, but at first, my mom and I both thought she was charging us extra since we didn’t spend over our $ 20 value Groupon deal. Oh well. Pros: –authentic, delicious food –MUCH more spacious than Les Givrals — we really appreciated this fact, because when Les Givrals gets busy, it gets really really packed and loud.

This is one of those places where I will never crave to go but I won’t mind going. I’ve been here twice & both times have been humdrum experiences — food wise. The servers were great! All very nice, attentive & punctual with the orders. — Phở Tai Nam Gau(2⁄5): It’s really unfortunate to say that their phở here really lacked flavor. Their broth was bland, tasted watered down. I added lime, hoisin sauce & sriracha but that still didn’t give it any oomph. — Banh Bot Chien(3⁄5): Prettty decent. Of course none will ever compare to Tan Tan’s. The cakes could be a bit crispier. — Thai Tea(2⁄5): My first time having this here, someone complained about it not being milky enough. Sooo our waitress gladly added more of that. making it very dense. — Crispy Cornish Hen Rice Plate(3⁄5): The hen’s a tad bit too dry, but dipping it in that sweet sauce helped with that. I’m not too crazy about the fried rice either. Quite bland in my opinion. There are plenty of other options on the menu, so I’ll definitely check them out on my next visit! Maybe I’ll find something I can stick to :)

Did a lot of grubhubing here. Rice plates are decent, but don’t order anything complex like mi quang – so bad. They aspire to be Huynh but they shouldn’t. Like the name indicates, only order simple stuff here. It was good enough that I ordered from there 5 times in a week.

Great fresh phở, and soups, and rice dishes– service can be slow at time and the tile floor is really hard(and the chairs are very light)((Don’t ask)) but iced coffee isn’t from a mix and it’s free on Tuesday’s(free iced tea on Monday’s) so all good there. Check it out

The food is friggin awesome! I’d have given them five stars but I ordered one sandwich for pickup and when I got to the restaurant 15 minutes later, it still wasn’t ready! I had to wait at least another 10 minutes for that sandwich… how long does it take to make a sandwich??? Plus I ordered it through Eat24 and got a digital receipt saying it would be $ 3.19. So I get there with $ 3.19 exactly in my pocket(i’m trying to be good about going into places with only the money I’m going to spend so I don’t end up buying a whole bunch of cookies and junk I don’t need it) and then the lady tells me that it’s $ 3.25! Luckily she let it pass and so it was only a six cent difference but still…

Banh mi sandwich with avocado? YESSSSPLEASE! The bread is great. Had the fried pork dumplings too and they were alright but I’ll just stick to the sandwiches next time.

I went two times with the crew from work for lunch. The service was good, and the staff was attentive. The ambience is sort of a lunch-time diner. The food was typical Asian/Vietnamese: spring rolls were good, both with the crispy ones and the ones in rice paper. The entrees are good, but still nothing spectacular. I remember Phở restaurants in DC and Florida where the food tasted a little more flavorful. The first time I went, I had the Côm Hoaøng Gia — a special combination rice plate of BBQ pork, chicken, steam pork roll, & eggroll. The meat on this dish seemed like they took pre-processed lunch meat, and spiced it and cooked it. Not really appetizing. The second time I went I had Kung Pao shrimp; not as spicy as I would have liked it: just average. Wasn’t bad, just wasn’t spectacular. Overall, a mediocre feel. Okay place for lunch with the office crowd; it’s very busy, but I’ve tasted better

Vegan Phở! Like broth and all! Granted it doesn’t have as much flavor as meat broth but for me it was awesome. We’ve been looking for a vegan phở place and just stumbled here. The service was super fast, friendly, and the food was delicious. Perfect date night order: Vegetarian dumplings(half fried /half steamed) Split an vegan phở

I think this is one of the few non 24 hour phở places that is open later than others! Had a late night craving for phở with my friend around 9pm on a Friday and Unilocaled«phở» in the med center area. Sadly a lot of the places we clicked on were closed. So I filtered for«open now» and Lo and behold! Simply phở pops up! With 40 min left til close! We raced over and made it just in time! The restaurant is righttt off a main street, so the front is curb side parking only, someone could totally run you over… But if you drive to the back there’s a private parking lot just for simply phở and the shops beside it! Much safer! I ordered a small phở with eye round steak and tendon, and it came out within minutes. They had the perfect noodle to meat ratio(some phở places give you too much meat and barely any noodles). The tendon was only okayy though… I usually like my tendon a little chewier, but the tendon here was more of a soft-and-melt-in-your-mouth. Kinda like a fat. So if you like soft and melty maybe you’ll like the tendon here. And as for the broth, it was pretty good! Not too salty and not too bland! I really only needed to add a tiny bit of hoisin sauce! Unfortunately my soup came out only warm and not hot. So kinda reflective of how close it was to closing time I guess. But shouldn’t have been an excuse to serve only-warm-soup! Regardless, I’ll definitely be coming back to give this place another shot! I really liked the broth :) so hopefully it’ll be hotter next time so I can bump this up a star. Btw… They have baby fish sauce bottles here!!! I’ve never seen that before! Too freakin cool!

I love coming here for the free coffee on Tuesdays. The food is always good and flavorful, and the waitstaff is very friendly and attentive. A glance in their direction usually brings someone to the table. I really like how the bill is always waiting at the register, no waiting for it to be brought to you in case you are pressed for time.

I came here on a week night with my friend. The drinks and the food all came out quickly. The service was very friendly and efficient. At the end of the meal, you simply pay at the front counter. I had the Com Thit Nuong with a fried egg on top. The pork portions were actually pretty small, and the flavor was pretty bland compared to other pork dishes that I have tried. The only redeeming factor for this dish would probably be the cheap price. Although the food here is decent, there are better Vietnamese restaurants in the same area such as Kim Son or Phở Saigon. If I come here in the future, I will be sure to try the phở.

I used to come to this restaurant when it was still called Nga’s Restaurant. They had some of the best tasting broth for Phở that i’d ever had and the food is cheap. I was a little upset when they closed, so when I heard a new place opened in its place called Simply Phở, I thought I’d give it a try. When you walk in, the place has been completely remodeled and looks so much better and everything is so wide open. I recognized a few of the waitstaff, so I’m under the assumption that it’s under the same ownership, just renamed and revamped. The place was a full of the lunch crowd, so it took a minute to find an open table for 2. It took a while to get someone to wait on us, but then again it was lunch time. Once we ordered it did not take long for the food to come out. My buddy and I each ordered Phở and we also got an order of the shrimp spring rolls and an order of the crispy Vietnamese egg rolls. The egg rolls were delicious but nothing out of the ordinary. The crispy egg rolls had more of the traditional wrapper, my preference, than that of the typical fried egg roll wrapper used on most Asian egg rolls. The Phở was as delicious as I remember and my buddy agreed! I got the small bowl, which was more than enough for me, and it was still plentiful. My small bowl of Phở was $ 4.95 and the order of crispy egg rolls(4) was $ 3.00. That makes a pretty cheap and filling lunch for me. Not to mention Tuesdays are free Vietnamese Iced Coffee days! Mondays are free iced tea days. I definitely recommend Simply Phở for some cheap and great tasting Vietnamese food around the midtown area. It’s across the street from where Van Loc used to be and also right next to YogaOne and OneLove Juice.

Great Vietnamese food for great price at a great location. We come here all the time, at least once a week, since it’s very close to our house and right across the street from the yoga studio we go to. The food is always consistent and good value as well. They have specials on most days, like free Vietnamese iced coffee on Tuesdays, but I never get it since I usually go at night. They sell these pallet cookies at the cash register that they get from a bakery on Bellaire that are very tasty! The owner there is always very friendly and nice, recognizing repeat customers. Service is also good and fast. What I ordered: — Phở tai chin(P12) — Chicken and eggroll vermicelli(B5) Pros: — Food comes out very fast — The cookies — Location Cons: — Nothing

Simply Phở has the best vegetarian phở in Houston thus far, and is one of the better $ 10 Vietnamese meals you can find in the area. I’ve been a few times, and consistently ordered two things: lemongrass tofu and vegetarian phở. Sometimes, if I’m hungry enough, I’ll order both. The vegetarian phở is great. Loaded with broccoli, tofu, and other veggies, this noodle dish doesn’t use beef broth but still creates traditional Vietnamese flavors. The lemongrass tofu isn’t as good as the vegetarian phở, but packs plenty of semi-spicy flavor. I’m not a very big bell pepper fan, but they add great color and texture to the dish. It’s a pretty casual spot with quick service, and for now, still my go to Houston vietnamese spot. Some people sit at coffee shops to get work done, but occasionally I’ll set up camp inside Simply Phở.

I frequent Simply Phở because it’s a great spot to get a quick bite, especially since it’s across the street from a yoga studio I go to. They have good-quality Beef Noodle Soups(Phở Bò) and Vermicelli(Bún) at decent prices. I like to come for the convenience factor as they are open late until 10 p.m. nightly. If I was going strictly for food taste, I would choose Phở Saigon down the street, but Simply Phở is good too. What to order: –Tai Chin(beef noodle soup with steak and well-done brisket) Pros: –Opens late(10 p.m.) –Variety on the menu –Convenience factor if going to YogaOne Studios across the street Cons: –Parking is scarce

This was our first time here. The drinks came out quick but the food not so much. I was having lunch with my twin 3 year olds and their grandfather. Each dish came out one at a time and the time frame was 5 – 10 minutes apart. Being that it was around 1:30 pm there wasn’t much of a lunch crowd so the food should have been expedited much quicker to me. The disappointing part with our dining experience was the older lady who took our order forgot my spring rolls.(I spoke to her in Vietnamese). I ordered the bo luc lac. the beef was good but was not consistent in tenderness with each bite. I did appreciate the salt & pepper with lime juice pre made for my meal. Pros: reasonable price kids meals(rare for Viet places) $ 3 – 4. I have twins 3 year olds. Dining area was a good size and roomie restaurant. Menu seem to have a good variety of dishes from what I saw. Small parking lot available behind the place.(Plus for midtown area). Cons: slow service(drink refills & food expediting) I honestly do not know if I will be back. There are a few other Vietnamese places that I want to try out in the area.(I just dislike slow service it kills the dine in experience).

They have a vegetarian section on their menu, which always earns a star in my book. Off the veg section, I ended up getting bao kun chuy, which is a noodle dish garnished with peanuts along with some veggie spring rolls. Obviously my South Asian taste buds have affected my food preferences, but how do people eat food that is so bland? Both my dishes were so plain. I added more sriracha than I care to admit to those noodles to give them more flavor. My dishes came with two sauces: one was peanut, the other was a mystery red sauce. WARNING: to all you vegetarians out there. The red sauce that comes the noodles with is fish sauce. Apparently this sauce is what makes the noodles tasty, but you’d think they would warn you when you order a vegetarian dish. I had a friend with me who stopped me before I put it on my dish. The restaurant is quite large and was busy on a Saturday dinner with a mix of races. If you’re an omnivore, like most of the world, the food is pretty good, according to everyone else I went with. The portion sizes were also pretty large. Perhaps dissapointment is what I get for ordering noodles at a phở place, but someone explain to me why vegan phở costs more than regular phở? Vegan phở was $ 10, but the other dishes were $ 5 for the regular size. Maybe next time I come I’ll scarf up the extra $ 5 for the phở. They also play classic rock music! Gives the place a different vibe from most Asian restaurants.
