The worst place to eat at. I used to eat here as child when there were different owners… I don’t know what happened now the food is garbage… you would think that with the name«steak kountry» they would actually have steak big ol negative

Worst of the worst. Please don’t come. For $ 14 you can go to Golden corral for a much better meal. I am amazed how this place keep its business.

My mom mentioned this place to me and she told she’d tried it before and thought it was good, so I gave it a shot despite all of the reviews… which didn’t look promising. It’s basically a Mexican food buffet with only a couple of American dishes, so I don’t know why it’s called Steakountry. It’s a small thing but I wouldn’t be surprised if people thought it was home style American food at first. Anyway, I tried the grilled chicken, breaded fish, Barbacoa tacos, rice, pork, and for dessert, a churro and some fruit. The only thing that I liked was the chicken. Everything else did not taste good. I’ve definitely had better somewhere else. The Barbacoa was salty, the fish had no flavor, and their salsa verde wasn’t very appetizing as well. Not pleased with the food. Also, I tried to catch one of the server’s attention because I needed something, and she looked right at me, clearly seeing that I was gesturing to her, and completely ignored me, turned around and walked away. How rude. Also, the building looks old. Where we were seated was all cramped. Thankfully there was nobody sitting in the booths behind us otherwise we’d all find it difficult to walk around. I felt squished. At $ 14/person, this place is not cheap either. I would rather spend the same amount at a Chinese buffet where the food is far better than here. Overall, NOT impressed by this place at all. Will never go back again.

First off, this is a mexican/tex-mex buffet. Fried chicken and tough steak are the only American style entrée options. I went there with my mexican born spouse and in laws. Pros: there was plenty to choose from. The staff was attentive. They kept the buffet stocked. The buffet area was clean. They had restrooms. There were plenty of tables to choose from. Cons: the food did not taste good. I would think that with the entire staff being latino, the food would have been better. The friend chicken had no flavor. I will not be back nor would ever recommend this place to anyone I know.

I live nearby so I thought I’d give SteaKountry a shot. It’s towards the bottom rung of the buffet places and for $ 14/person you’re not saving any money coming here. I first tried the«sirloin» steak. While not terrible and pretty much cooked all the way done, I’m relatively sure it wasn’t sirloin. The appearance of the steak and the toughness made me think it was likely fancied up skirt steak. I also had a crab cake which was definitely mostly cake. Roasted pork was all right as was the fried fish. Okra was actually pretty good so that was one of the high points of the visit. I’d recommend going somewhere else though if you’re looking for a buffet.

The food was horrible. Either it was dry or to greasy. Everything was dirty. Not the place to go for steak or ribs. Most of the food was what you would find in a Mexican restaurant. not a good name for a «mexican» restaurant.

I came to this location when it first opened years ago. We were in the area and thought it’d be nice to stop by and eat. Immediately regretted my decision. They play loud music as if it were a quincenera. Food was borderline disgusting. Barely edible. 15 dollars per adult. Ridiculous. If I could rate it a 0, I would. Highly recommend to stay away

One of the worst restaurants I’ve ever eaten in. Hard, dry, overcooked(hours under the heat-lamps and on the steam table) totally unappealing. Tasteless canned vegetables, everything must come from a can. Beyond the canned food, everything is fried. Steak was joke, I wan’t expecting much and I wasn’t disappointed. Rolls were like hockey pucks, desserts had NO appeal at all. Unlike the other reviews stated, the place was relatively clean and staff was friendly. BUTNOTHING could over come the horrible food. STAYAWAYATALLCOST.

Food is very good here. A lot of people complain because it doesn’t serve American food. I think they should change their name to something else. Place is always clean and people are very friendly. Food is fresh and tasteful. If you don’t like mexican food don’t come here. Stick to Golden Corral if you want American food. Nothing personal. When I first pulled up as well I thought it was an American buffet but it’s not they have the basic fried chicken and salad but nothing else.

Don’t waste your time or money. For over $ 14 per person, you’d expect decent food, and STEAK. The food was very bland, so I thought I’d just have a nice big salad. Well, struck out in that department too. Selection of salad toppings was bare minimum. The«steak» was all about ¼ inch thick, all cooked pretty well done. I must say, as sad as it looked, it had the best flavor of everything I tried. They did seem to keep the food stocked and the buffet clean.

Ok let me start off by saying if i could rate this place 0 stars i would. Not only was there a horrible selection of food but there was only one steak to choose from and this place suppose to be steak country??? Then i go to the restroom and everything has a cheap feel to it, the toilet paper dispenser hit you on the left side when you sit on the toilet. This is the last time i would come here and i would not recommend anyone to go here either.

HOMESTYLECOOKINGFAVORITELUNCHSPOT Are you kidding? I frequent this place and I have always enjoyed lunch here. The lady at the register is Sandra, she has an award winning smile and personality. The manager is a great guy that I see talking to the regulars all the time and he is real nice to us. The food is great to me and my wife. Today, I had 2 plates of the great mashed potatoes, green beans, roasted pork and salad. I overheard two other customers talking about how much they love the food and eat here all the time. I looked at Unilocal and I was shocked at the reviews. I asked the owner about it and found out that one angry customer wrote several negative reviews to vent his anger. Well, I know the building is old but the food is great and so are the employees that we see. I hope the angry customer finds Christ and better understands LOVE. From a white Christian man, I suggest that we should judge the food and love and help the people in our community.

No thanks this place is awful. Everything is dirty the food is not good. The only Reason we came here was because our meal was free on behalf of the manager. That’s nice of him and all but sorry this place is pretty disgusting. The food has no taste, it is hard, and it tastes like if the food is left overs and was heated up by the microwave. The whole staff is Hispanic and the main customers are Hispanic they even have Univision which is a Spanish television channel. It is packed, the price is not bad for a buffet but I just won’t come here again even if it is another free meal.

Lol. I read david n’s review and I thought the same thing, why didn’t I check Unilocal first? Its cool that it’s kid free night*tuesday if u want to go*. I rarely eat buffets and if I do it is a sweet tomato or golden corral. We were both starving and decided this was close and we have never been. So we came. Well, first, it is overpriced. So kids should eat free. There was a mini salad buffet. Lettuce, mixed greens, mushroom, onions and sprouts and your regular dressing. Fried chicken, dried out, fried catfish, also dry. A taco area. Cheese made from powdered kraft with extra water. Mac same way. I am the queen of boxed mac and this was not even close to my buck mac n cheese. It was more of a mexican buffet with all the mexican drinks. I love mexican food buy not like this. Anyways, I ate 1 small salad, a plate of mac, corn and chicken and I was done for. Even my son who normally eats a ton had 1 plate and was done. He even said mommy, this is not like the other places. He said he would come back but if mommy doesnt then he wont either because it was ok.

I was disappointed but not surprised to log on here and see that every review for this establishment is a one-star rating. I will echo the sentiment of many others when I say, I can’t rate it low enough and there needs to be a zero-star option for restaurants this poorly run. I hate writing negative reviews, especially when it is clear that the problem is inept management rather than employee incompetence. To the contrary, the employees that I encountered were polite, friendly, and helpful. Unfortunately, they work for an establishment that is so poorly run their jobs could be in danger. And in today’s economy, that’s a lousy position. I visited around 12:45PM on July 29, 2013 — a Monday, during normal lunch hours. The first thing that I noticed is that there were very few people in the restaurant, despite the relatively low-priced all-you-can-eat steak buffet. This is typically a sign that something is very, very wrong — and in this case, it most certainly was. That something was undercooked(as in, still frozen in the middle) fried chicken strips, cold food on the serving line with inadequate ice, hot food on the serving line with inadequate warming, and food that was dripping with excess grease. There was only one offering of steak, and they were poorly butchered, greasy, burned cuts of mostly fat and gristle. The lettuce on the salad bar was wilted, the celery was brown, and the dressing tasted«off.» I didn’t try the eggs — given the state of the other food on the line, that prospect was downright scary. I also avoided the pasta and bean salads for fear that they contained mayonnaise, and were clearly not being kept at the proper temperature. I poured half a cup of grease off my plate after eating two crispy tacos(with shells that were more spongy than crispy). The macaroni and cheese had a slimy, greasy texture and quite frankly I’ve had better from a box(which is really saying something about the pathetically low quality). In struggling to find something positive to write, I will say that the mashed potatoes were fairly well executed, if a bit salty for my taste. The niblet corn was actually delicious, with a slight sweetness that worked well with the potatoes. I’m sure it would have paired delightfully with the chicken or the steak, had either actually been edible. The jalapeño cornbread looked invited, but it smelled — and tasted — of fish. The rolls were hard and dry, and the fake butter spread didn’t help much when I finally located it. Which brings me to the next issue — the poor layout of the serving lines. The salad bar is at the entrance — but the plates, utensils, napkins, and trays are at the end(in what universe does this make sense?). The hot and cold items are alternated throughout the line, which is probably a big part of the issue with maintaining proper temperatures on any of them. The breads are hidden around a corner behind the deserts, and then the soda fountain is hidden behind yet another corner. The mirrors — everywhere — make the maze of a serving line feel more like a fun-house from which one must escape than an inviting eatery. Finally, the cleanliness of the public areas of the restaurant call their sanitation practices into serious question. One can generally tell how clean — or dirty — a restaurant’s kitchen is likely to be by the amount of cleaning — or total lack thereof — that is done in the dining areas, the serving areas, and the restrooms. Despite the nearly empty restaurant, all three were filthy. There were unopened packages of saltine crackers floating in the salad dressing, serious cross-contamination between foods on the serving line, food spilled all over the counters, food ground into the carpet, and restrooms that were so nasty I wasn’t willing to use them(I used to WORK in a convenient store, so that’s about as telling as the macaroni comparison). All in all, my visit to Steak Kountry Buffet(which is how they spell it on the signage) was terrible. An hour later, sitting at my computer writing this, my stomach is somewhat queasy and I am hoping I didn’t get e coli from the off-temperature ground beef or salmonella from the undercooked chicken.
