Craving for some Chinese buffet today for some reason so I did a quick Unilocal search and decided to come here to give it a try. Well I have plenty of experiences at numerous Chinese buffet around town and this one is an alright in my book. The parking lot is ridiculous huge at this joint. And since I showed up around 5:40pm on a Monday afternoon, the lot was absolutely empty and I thought the place was closed!!! The dining area is HUGEIMO and pretty clean, my table did not feel greasy nor dusty. As for the food, well def. nothing to praise. The ribs looked DRY and the fried rice looked very bland, all the food and the soup were warm at best and not hot enough IMO. BUT still I was staving so I did not complain much, and in all honesty for $ 8.99, I am just glad my water for plenty of ice in it and there were no roaches spotted in sight. I might be back just to get food in my stomach without spending much at all. I like their fortune cookies though!!!

I came here on a weekend night with my friend. As soon as I walked in, I knew I was going to have a great dinner. The restaurant was very quaint with a great interior décor. The buffet structure was also very well organized and clean. As for the food, there was a wide selection of the standard Chinese buffet foods such as pepper steak and baked fish. In addition, Yank Sing did a great job with the overall quality and flavor in each item I tried. Everything was fresh and on point. My personal favorites from this location were the beef and broccoli as well as the fried chicken wings. I’ve tried the majority of Asian buffets in Houston, and I have to say Yank Sing is definitely on par with the best. Anytime I am in the area, I will be sure to make another visit. I’m already excited to try the lunch buffet in the future!

I’ve come here a handful times over the years. I’d say they’ve been consistent with their quality and offerings. Granted, I come for lunch on weekends, so maybe there’s a larger crowd and the food is turning over more often than if you go at a slower time. But I’ve enjoyed myself each time I come. Service is almost always good and you’re served with a smile. They have a decent offering of American and Asian foods. Let me say, this is not a «Chinese» buffet like you might expect in Sharpstown or Chinatown. This is a Westernized buffet. But that said… I still think the place tastes decent, and it’s a buffet. No issues from me.

Friend and I normally go during luch and it’s probably the best of the few buffets I’ll actually go to. Food is plenty and mostly fresh but giving its lunch time so food is always going out to the steam table. I would have given it a 5 star if the service was a little better I’ve had to wait on my drink refills on many occasions.

I went late on a Saturday night, so the place was close to deserted. Still, I trust my fellow Unilocalers and gave it a shot. The service was great. The buffet itself was odd. There was a relatively small selection of Chinese entrees; instead I saw things like mashed potatoes, chicken nuggets and corn. The usual buffet suspects(sweet-and-sour, sesame chicken, beef with broccoli) were there, though, so I was OK. My main problem here is that half the food I got off the buffet was cold. Cold as if maybe the heat lamps weren’t working the way they should be? Cold as in the way food would be if I left it on my kitchen counter for a few hours. Not refrigerator cold, but definitely not warm in the way you’re expecting restaurant food to be. The taste wasn’t bad, and the price(about $ 11 with drink) was what I would expect for a buffet. But until the temperature changes, I won’t be back.

We decided to come here and have lunch one day while in the area. I’m not always a fan of buffet type places but I wanted to see if the beef and broccoli was as good as I had been told it was. My first impression when walking in was noticing how clean it looked. The tables were all highly polished and glossy. The floor was free of any dropped food, crumbs or other debris. The restrooms were also very clean, which is a must, with heavy, more decorous type dark wooden doors for the stalls. The buffet had great variety and, again, was well organized and clean looking. Buffet items included baked fish, baked chicken and fried chicken wings. There was also fried white meat chicken for which you could choose sweet and sour or lemon sauce. I went for a mix of different items: beef and broccoli, chicken lo mein, steamed rice, pepper steak, some kind of fried potatoes dish, a bowl of won ton soup, steamed and fried dumplings, vegetable egg roll and a crab puff. I ordered hot tea for my drink. The beef and broccoli was just as good as I’d heard and better. The beef was very tender, the broccoli cooked perfectly for this kind of dish — firm yet with a softness to the bite. The sauce just put it over the top. It was rich and savory with a distinct but not overwhelming garlic flavor. It had just a little bit of a spicy kick from the peppers which was different but welcome. The potato dish, cubes of fried potato seasoned and with a slight sweetness was another winner. The fried and steamed dumplings had a delicate flavor as did the won ton soup. I was equally pleased with the other items I chose. The one exception was the crab puffs which didn’t seem as if they were fried long enough and were a little«doughy» and not crisp. I’d be willing to give them a try another day in case this was just an off day for the crab puffs. The pot of hot tea was jasmine that was light and fragrant. I’m quite fond of jasmine tea, or any tea for that matter, so I was happy with this. The sweet side of the buffet had fruits, cake slices, chocolate and vanilla pudding, almond cookies and jello. I had watermelon which was fresh and sweetly good, almond cookies, which I love, and some vanilla pudding. I have no complaints here. There is also soft serve ice cream with vanilla and chocolate flavors. Service was friendly and the prices are reasonable. You can really fill up on the food here for a bargain. We’d come back here again, especially for the beef and broccoli as well as other items.

Was not good at all. My children and I love Chinese buffet, but we could barely finish one plate here. I will never come back again.

This is my favorite Chinese buffet on the Northwest side. I eat here about twice a month. The best time to eat here for me is during lunch as the food is hot and fresh. All the food is good and they have a big selection. They even have steak on the buffet. I would have given 5 stars if food was fresh all day.

Clean, and updated for sure its been awhile since I’ve been to this location. Food fresh didn’t smell fishy or appear old. Service fine. Food fine. I know another location they are slightly larger and do sushi this location does not. Steak was good but I think the lamps to keep them warm were not as effective as on other food. Egg drop soup was a tad on the weak side but I cant figure out why not sure if it was just not thick enough or what. It wasn’t bad, just OK, but not great like other places. Its over all OK for quick fast clean bite to eat. Some of the heat settings could be a tad warmer or the food to be a tad warmer/hotter in my opinion.

Due to a horrible experience at a near by Chinese buffet & the not so great reviews, I’d been avoiding this place. I was in a gambling mood yesterday & gave them a shot for lunch. I have to say this place was pretty dang on good. There were enough folks there to keep the food coming out fresh, but not crowded to the point you had to run up to grab something the second it came out. I gave many of their dishes a try, but a couple stood out. The wonton soup, beef & broccoli & steamed dupmplings stood out most. Not sure if it’s their standard but the beef & broccoli was made spicy & was very good. Their fried rice was done well also, not gummy or overloaded w/soy sauce. The only thing I sampled & didn’t care for was the egg drop soup. Service was quick & friendly. Place was also kept clean; tables & buffet area. Price was very reasonable for lunch. Not sure if maybe management or something has changed, but this place is worth a try.

Yank Sing has a lot of food. Getting a lot of food is good. Going back to work where we only have one bathroom stall afterward is not.

We went to this place again and it was not even sub par nothing was fresh and there were only a few things that didn’t look like they had been sitting there for several hours. I guess you have to hit it on the right day and time and we missed it! dont know if we will go again.

Went to lunch today with a contractor and this is the place he took me. The buffet was $ 7.25 for lunch which is not a bad deal. They have all the standard fare you would expect at a chinese buffet. I sampled many of the offerings and some of my favorites were the crab puffs, seafood delight which actually had fresh shrimp in it, the fried fish and the best I had was the pepper steak. The steak was super tender and melted in your mouth. Not stringy or full of gristle like some other places. I also had the bbq ribs and the skewered pork which were pretty good. I would come back here to eat again. Staff was good on clearing plates, but took a little bit for me to get a drink refill.

This place is by far my favorite restaurant that also sounds like the title of a Chow Yun Fat action movie sequel.

God. I got desperate and didn’t want to go to Long John Silver again so I stopped by here. I’m not sure what Ariel meant by not in the scary crazy ghetto, but I would still consider this not to be the nicer side of town. Chinese buffets in general are low quality food, but this one took the cake. Food was not fresh. I didn’t even finish my whole plate. And the whole décor was wood trim with green tables, and it felt like I was trapped in time. Read my other reviews if you still have a hankering for Chinese buffets!

I like to eat. There, I said it. And, I’m all for a good value Chinese buffet: plenty of food, moderate price, and decent surroundings. The other day I had a hankering for those fried biscuits with a bit of sugar sprinkled on top so I had to search Unilocal for a close-by buffet to slake that craving. The buffet is hot but the chicken dishes(sesame chicken and sweet and sour chicken) I had were tough — with a bit of bonus gristle thrown in. «Bonus gristle» is just making you want to stop reading and rush over here, right?(I thought not.) The broccoli was firm but bitter; how does this happen? And, the fried biscuits were just a bit too greasy — having set one on a napkin on top of my magazine to free up plate space, I was disturbed to see that the oil had soaked through and even made the ink run a bit on the magazine. Yikes. Since I was blinded by my biscuit fixation, I failed to note the price before sidling up to the steam table. Upon leaving, the large sign said $ 7.50 for lunch, $ 8.99 for dinner, and some other price for children. [Since I’m not a child, I don’t focus on retaining this type of data. Sorry.] For $ 7.50, I could have had a quality single-serve meal at another Chinese restaurant. The décor was frumpy: think old-lady cafeteria meets 80s flashback and you’ve got a good idea. Granted, I’m more focused on the food and service but the décor really brought my mood down from an already crestfallen food experience. Service was above-average if not ghost-like: upon my return to the buffet for a fateful second plate, the original plate was whisked away like one of those persons who disappear and need an «Amber Alert» put out for them. Except, I didn’t want my dirty plate back. Bottom line: Pass this place up. And, this visit really counted as two visits: my first and last visit.

I work near Yank Sing, and I go there once a month. I go there when I want to eat some hot food, veggies, etc. I enjoy there food. I like the general joes chicken, fried chicken, rice, ice cream. I tried to other similar chinese buffets in the area. I came back to Yank Sings. If you are hungry and want some chinese buffet and you are near Delmar Stadium try Yank Sings. If they offered free Wi-Fi they would probably draw more customers. Just saying.

We had been looking for a great chinese buffet that was: 1. not in the scary crazy ghetto 2. not a zillion dollars 3. not gross Yank Sing was awesome! The buffet was not as big as many that we had been to, but OMG the food was ALL hot and tasty. Usually you can tell if some of the entrees have been sitting a while, but here, I saw people bringing out fresh stuff every other minute. The price(I think around 9 bucks for dinner) was very reasonable. The restaurant was clean and our server didn’t «hover» yet our drinks were always full. Definitely going back! Ps. try the almond cookies!!!
