Consistent quality. Food and tortillas are always good. This is Houston, so getting a 4 or 5 star with Mexican food has some fierce competition. If you are in a hurry and just want a good taco, drive thru and get some.

Drive thru. I pull up. «Hold on» is what I heard first off. 3 – 4 minutes later. «Ok. I’m ready now. What you want?» Are you kidding me? If I were the manager and heard that. You little lady. You would be fired! I pull up to the window. «They are out of chicken for the chicken fajita tacos. You can wait for them to make more» Not a good time to come here at 7:00pm on a Sunday I guess.

The good stuff, the place is inexpensive, it’s fairly clean, and the salsa bar is well stocked. Now let’s talk about the food, first off it took 25+ minutes for 2 plates of food and an order of chips and queso; also take into consideration it wasn’t all that busy either on a Sunday afternoon. Not what I’d call fast food at all, in fact by normal texmex standards it was glacially slow. My steak tacos were tiny, and the«supposed» steak tasted more like chopped beef jerky, I’m not even sure it was steak, whatever it was did not taste good at all. Better half’s plate was 75% rice and beans, with another paltry taco, enchilada, again portion was pretty small. Salsa bar is good, well stocked so that’s a plus. Though the drink area had ice everywhere, and soda dripping out on the floor(not a small amount either, several cups worth) and no one bothered to clean that up, nor the dirty tables. Fast forward to driving home, we all experienced extremely bad indigestion followed by diarrhea — clearly something was off when all three of us wound up feeling ill. A bit of a fluke I will admit as normally taco cabana is alright, but getting sick from the food all but ensures we’ll never be back to that location. Clearly they need to work on their portions, cleaning up the store, and time it takes to prepare food as I’ve never had an experience like this with them before.

Great sauce bar. love the ranch sauce! The prices are a bit steep. I LOVE the street tacos. They are only 290 calories for all three tacos. GO for it! IF you are a person watching the calorie intake order the steak street tacos.

If I’m at TC it’s because it’s about 2am and I have the beer munchees. The crew here is nice and responsive but it’s really about stuffing my gut with hot tortillas and queso. The chicken quesadillas are alright.

I Went here today for a quick lunch. I had the #1 which is 2 beef fajita tacos w/chips and queso. I also added 3 crispy chicken flautas that came with guacamole. The food is usually pretty good here. The fajitas are well seasoned and tender for a fast food chain. The flautas were good too. Crispy with seasoned chicken on the inside. I like the salsa bar where you can get whatever condiments you wish for your tacos self serve. Usually not super crowded at this location so you can get in and out with a full belly.

Sheesh. What’s with all the hater reviews? This is Taco Cabana damnit! Sure it’s not taco bell. It’s more… hmmm…I don’t know… gritty. And that’s what we love about this chain. I like the fact that a little bean burrito is called a «soft taco with beans and cheese» I wish I had stopped at n-1 tacos today however :(

I cannot tell you how many times this particular Taco C has messed up my order. I refuse to go there anymore which is sad b/c there is nothing more genius than tex-mex on the go! And recently, not only did they mess up on my boyfriend’s order but they put the queso in the bag upside-down so when I went to take it out, it dumped out everywhere not leaving any left to eat! I was so livid!!! Luckily my boyfriend went back and they gave us his order and more chips and queso all for free but he still had to take the time/hassle to go back plus my bitchiness. I hate it when fast food workers can’t do their jobs… how hard can their jobs possibly be?! I’m sorry but it’s true.

I often stop in here at 6 am to buy breakfast tacos for clients. Even early in the mornings i always get fast friendly service when buying 60 – 100 tacos.

I used to be able to tolerate Taco Cabana but on my late night craving for some food last night, I found that this Taco C would not suffice. I was sad. I was craving some Taqueria but they were closed by this time so I had to settle. Not that good I’ve eaten here at other times also and still the food lacks what I used to like about Taco C. The menu seems shortened and just not that tasty. Another big problem with this location is they aren’t a late night spot on any night. Sad. Viva la Taqueria

Many years ago I had tortilla soup at the Taco Cabana on 1960 and was so in love I looked up the recipe to make it at home. A coworker suggested going to this one(off Sam Houston) for lunch and I jumped at the chance to order the soup again. Turns out they only serve soup during the winter. What?!? So I ordered the #1 combo which comes with 2 fajta tacos, chips, cheese dip, and a 20 oz drink. For 5.79(+tax) that’s a pretty good deal. But the chips were stale, the cheese runny, and the fajita meat seemed to be seasoned with nothing but lots of pepper. I was very disappointed. I guess I can only come here during the winter for soup, and maybe the occasional late night drunken chicken quesidilla cravings.
