Great place to eat. The al pastor tacos with cilantro and onion on corn tortillas are the bomb. Gorditas are yummy as well. Very homemade and fresh always and staff are always friendly and provide great service. Awesome salsas green and top it off cheap. Give it a try, ul be back!

This place has some great Mexican food! Upon entering we were greeted and served immediately! They had Aquas Frescas which we have been searching everywhere for! We got a Large Limonada which is basically fresh lemonade for only $ 2.50! The chips and salsa are hands down some of the best I’ve ever had! It reminded me of home in the Rio Grande Valley. We tried out the plate El Chicano which was rice, beans, beef fajita taco, salad, & a chicken enchilada. All of which were delicious and only $ 6.99! The green salsa was so good too! I can’t wait to try their other plates & their breakfast tacos!!! So excited but I must say bring your Spanish A game because they don’t speak english. They did understand me speaking english though but I can see how it could probably scare some people. Lol Anyways the prices are cheap and the food is of great quality! Check this place out, you won’t be disappointed!

I’ve been here plenty of times, only because of the food. With that being said food is yummy. But service here SUCKS! Half the time they forget small stuff, not so friendly staff.

This place doesn’t even deserve a star. Worst customer service ever. We were waiting at least 20 min for the waitreses to clean our table and take our order and they couldn’t complete neither of those tasks… it was a very bad experience!

On a whim I decided to stop in and pick up a few tacos one night and was surprised to see how busy they were. This place from inside out looks questionable but I’m a guy that doesn’t judge a book by its cover. Ordering is a bit difficult if you don’t speak Spanish so don’t come here expecting great service. I prefer the tacos on corn tortillas with onions and cilantro. It adds more flavor and taste better. Pastor was pretty good and my favorite out of all the tacos. Barbacoa was tasty and fatty Fajita wasn’t bad a tad dry. Try the tripas, if you’re a food connoisseur you know what that is lol. Prices are cheap $ 1.25… the green sauce will punish you if you can’t handle the heat.

Tripas are great! Al pastor on the trompo! When you see a trompo you know its gonna be good! Chicharron tacos! Tortas are awesome! The barbacoa is great too! Speaking spanish helps but if you dont then just point.

This review is SOLELY based on their beef fajitas tacos served with corn tortilla. This is the ONLY thing we ever order here. I’m always craving these darn tacos! The authenticity, taste, and sauce earn the tacos 4 stars. The authentic Mexican taco comprises 3 ingredients – meat, cilantro, and onion, but they are AMAZING. Add in the avocado jalapeño sauce and it’s even better! The beef is flavorful and everything tastes delicious together. Also, get the corn tortillas instead of the flour ones. Usually I prefer the corn tortillas but I hate the ones that are super dry and crumbly. The corn tortillas here are soft, with 2 layers of tortillas per taco. I usually peel off 1 of the layers because the tortillas are too thick if I eat it with both layers. Even with one layer it’s not crumbly and does not tear apart. Oh, and the best part is that these tacos are only $ 1.50 each! I usually get them topped with avocado(you should too). MMMMMMMMDELICIOUS!

Cheap and delicious. I had a taco de fajita and one of chicharron with a frijoles charros. Excellent for about 4 bucks. They had a molca de salsa on the counter. Frijoles had weenies in it but they were still delish.

My god I found the lost dinner, except it has no Americana food, and a fish tank on the counter. La Balita is a El Salvadorian restaurant, not being familiar with this type of ration, I decided to go with their recommendations. Food: Papusa: The Salvadorian tradition, round pancake sized dough with meat and cheese inside. Well barely any cheese, and no meat to be found. C Torta: You get a large loaf of toasted bread, with a salad and a hot dog in it. Not so bueno, a hotdog? C Chicken Salad: Yep, I ordered a salad to calm my belly after the first 2 choices. Foreman grill tasting chicken with avocado slices. B My belly shakes like a Corvette going over speed bumps as they take my $$. Not coming back.

Chips and salsa was good. I like my salsa chunky and it had a tomato flavor to it. Enchiladas(fajita) The first bite I took was filled with cheese and it was good. Every other bite after was less than appetizing. The fajita meat was extremely hard to chew and not that flavorable. My bf got the quesidilla(half chicken/fajita) He agreed the fajita meat wasn’t good and I thought his chicken didn’t have flavor either. We came here because my bf’s dad recommended it. I should’ve gotten WHAT he recommended though. The breakfast items or tacos, maybe they were good. As for the low rating… I am huge on customer service and this place just doesn’t cut it. When I first stepped in, my bf was greeted. Not the both of us, maybe because I culturally did not fit in because everyone stared. Then we waited a good 8 minutes by the door for a table… To the point I asked if he wanted to leave. Give that the place was small, but there were empty tables… They just didn’t clean it. And it was 80% full, but the wait staff did not move any faster, at a slow pace at that. They finally directed us to a table and my bf had me sit when it wasn’t even cleaned yet! Overall I tried to like this place, but I just don’t. Wouldn’t come back by choice. Food= less than average. Service= horrible.

For a taqueria it’s five star great chips and salsa good aqua fresca. The food is always great price and well seasoned. They have my fav Mexican beer modelo especial. It’s small but feel like I’m in Mexico local shop. Great place to get a bite with friends not recommend for dates.

On my drive to meet a client, I traveled on Beechnut where I found a small mexican eatery — Tacos La Balita. Once inside, it is nice & cozy. Cozy without anyone invading your personal space. Personally, I didn’t find the limited space to be a limitation. At its entrace, there is an elongated table top with bar stools for patrons to sit right away. While there you become close and personal with the cook and his wait staff. They are cordial as they are efficient to serve you with a smile. Sitting on my bar stool, I ordered chicken and fajita tacos. They are served with a generous amount of onion, celantro and limes. Rrrrrico! They are tasty and juicy. MMMMMMM. One might wonder if they would pass the Santos Taco Stress Test. I for one think they would. My drink order was the medium lemonade. It was served chilled & delivered with a smile. Chilled lemonade during a hot day where everything under sun is smoldering from direct sun rays will cool and refresh one at their core and restore one’s temperature. The recommendation for anyone on their path to visit a client, friend, or family member is obvious. Have breakfast, lunch or dinner prepared for you by this purveyor of tasty mexican food. Their work of food is designed to hit the spot and styled to capture your eye as it glistens and glows from coming right off the stove. Adiós! –Esteban

Saw this mentioned if a houston food blogger rundown on best tacos. suprised to see it wasnt already on Unilocal.suprised more still that this was place i pass by all the time when i used to get gas here, and that a place praised for its authentic mexican food is right in chinatown, in the catty corner of a many nearby authentic asian restaurants! ordered a plate with a little bit of everything, and two tacos, al pastor and ‘trompo’ which was written in. i knew well enough that in mexico, al pastor is *cooked* on a trompo, but i was curious what would happen, and i dont know enough about mexican idioms and maybe i was just assuming they were the same thing. the waitress took my order and then later came back and advised me, i guess sizing me up because i had a disparate order, and of not latin descent, that i wasn’t intentionally ordering two of the same thing, but with different names., that those were actually the same thing, which is what i thought. i thought it was cool she was looking out for me. i normally ask to not have chips/salsa brought out to me(carbs), but i forgot this time. the salsa was actually pretty good, a good omen. basically everyhting i had was solid. no way for me to explain but everything ‘had a taste’ to it, well seasoned enough that you coulnd’t define, just that it was pleasing.
