Taqueria Los 3 Potros

Ever since we’ve lived in this area, this taco truck has been parked in the Fuel Depot lot on Tidwell and Bingle. It’s one of those places I wouldn’t think of when I was looking for a quick meal, but I will from now on.
The tacos are 99 cents, and they are probably the best 99 cent tacos I have found. There are a variety of meats to choose from: fajita, pastor, chicken, campechanas, suadero, tripa, boche and more. The campechanas was my favorite by far: It had a yummy carmelized meat flavor with a hint of chile and cinnamon. The pastor was good and flavorful, though not authentic pastor off the spit. The suadero was tender and cooked well, but didn’t taste like much at all.
The tacos were served with grilled onions, radishes, carrots, limes, and cucumber slices. My Mexican hubby said this little salad is intended to be a refreshing palate cleanser between tacos or after the meal. Do what you will with this authentic Mexican touch. Personally, the addition of these veggies in a little baggie does nothing for me.
2 salsas were also provided — a red and a yellowish-​green one. The yellowish-​green one was not good. My husband, a salsa verde lover, really was not a fan of this salsa. I actually enjoyed the red salsa quite a bit. It had spice notes similar to the campechanas meat — a heat that sneaks up on you.
They also offer gorditas, tortas, burritos, agua frescas, piratas and quesadillas. I was running low on cash on my visit, so I didn’t get to sample offerings other than tacos, but I’ll be back to try a gordita for sure.
Overall, I’m sorry I didn’t try this place out sooner. Good prices, good quality. I’ll be back.
