From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a Mexican traditional environment. The decorations make you feel like you are truly in a Mexican restaurant in Mexico. I couldn’t really decide on what to get so I decided to go with their traditional Tepatitlan dish. OMG it was amazing. My husband ordered the Enchilada dinner and man, I kept wanting some of his! The amount that you get and the quality of the food is great! But best of all, you get all of this with an unbeatable prices. Definitely becoming a regular here.

Great place to come with the family! Definitely not a fancy place, but if you’re looking for a great Mexican restaurant with authentic food, and a fun environment, decorated with loads of tacky Mexican relics. I strongly recommend this place. I will be returning for more.

Came here for breakfast with my husband. I ordered chorizo with eggs. Came with a side of refried beans and potatoes. Beans needed salt and were somewhat bland. Flour tortillas are homemade but are small. Waitress not very friendly. Customer service is everything. Wont be returning.

The place is decently arranged, clean and it has a nice décor. Veery Mexican! Electric orange and green on the walls make you think of those little towns near the Mexican Pacific Coast. The sounds coming out of the Jukebox sway between Vicente Fernandez and La Oreja de Van Gogh… I guess the guys in the next table making the selections cannot make up their mind between Rancheras and ComRock. About the waitress: she is super friemdly, and she knows her craft. She was prompt to mention all fruit drink selections are not from concentrate. You know, agua de horchata(rice) agua de jamaica() piña, naranja… I chose horchata. A bit too sweet, but otherwise great. Fajita plate special for less than 10 bucks came prompt, well cooked, sizzling and with good sides. No guaca… but hey! 8 bucks, hombre !

I decided to try here after reading Unilocal reviews. After looking at the menu I decided to try their Parrilladas with beef and chicken and also ordred the charra beans instead of the refried version which supposedly cost me .75 cents more. The chips and salsa were delivered to me with both red and green salsas in squirt bottles and a basket of good chips. I liked the red salsa better than the green. The squirt bottles weren’t all that annoying as it is a more efficient way of distributing the salsa. Chips and salsa were good. When the entrée arrived it all looked good. The beans were excellet(some of the better ones that I have had). They had alot of bacon pieces in them and were very tasty. The meats were both good and I enjoyed the meal. The only real shortcoming was the amount of guac, pico de gallo and shredded lettuce. It should have been more. Like I said it was a good meal and my service was very good. I think a 3 is a fair rating for this place. It is a good place to eat if you are in the vicinity.

Some of the best menudo in town! The verduras en escabeche they serve with the chips is another favorite. As Olivia stated this is not the fanciest restaurant in town but it is clean, the food is good, and the prices are reasonable. We are in Spring Branch so a little Spanish helps but it’s not obligatory. It’s a comfortable neighborhood restaurant.

The great thing about Spring Branch is that you can find hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurants everywhere you look. Speaking Spanish isn’t a requirement, but it sure helps in most of the Mexican dives where most of the patrons only speak Spanish and more than likely carpooled or rode their bikes to dine. Don’t worry if you’re a non-Spanish speaking individual like myself because as long as you can point at the picture, you’ll still be able to order. Ok, I admit I really should know Spanish being a TexMex and all, but it wasn’t spoken in my house growing up, leaving me to be a typical American that only speaks English. I still get bad cravings for good Mexican food and finding a decent Mexican dive is no trouble in the great city of Houston, so I ventured to this location purely out of curiosity since it’s not too far from my neighborhood, and I feel like I should support my local Taqueria’s. This is a part of town that might make you feel like it is a bit unsafe, but don’t let the exterior scare you away. Sure the parking lot needs to be repaved and the buildings need a serious scrubbing on the outside and insides, but that’s part of the charm of this dive. The interior is dressed in all things Mexican tacky chic including plenty of colorful blankets doubling as window coverings. This is a seat-yourself establishment, so don’t look for a hostess to show you to a table. Grab the first one that looks good and a waitress will be out to help you shortly. The waitresses that work here are young and sweet, but primarily speak Spanish, but are able to speak enough English to communicate with you. As always, chips and salsa are complimentary to each table. The chips are really good, and the green salsa is worth trying, but remember this is a dive, so when the waitress brings you squeeze bottles full of salsa, don’t be upset that you don’t have a bowl to dip out of. Serving salsa like that is one way of keeping people from wasting it. After looking over the menu, I quickly decided that I wanted to try their Carne Asada. I figured that I wouldn’t be out much money if it wasn’t very good, so I took a chance on it. The meat wasn’t really seasoned a lot, but it was grilled perfectly. The grilled onions, salsa, refried beans, Spanish rice, pico de gallo, guacamole, and limes all helped to give it a little extra kick. I devoured my platter sized plate of food feeling like I was eating my last meal on earth. Everything was really good and at only $ 7.99 for all of that, I was more than pleasantly surprised with the value. Keep in mind that this is a dive, and that the people who regularly eat here are those that live near the neighborhood. Therefore, don’t come too dressed up or wearing your expensive jewels, and be prepared for a lot of food. The food comes out really fast, so you’ll be eating within 15 minutes after you arrive. Once you’re done eating, don’t wait for the waitress to bring the bill to you, you’ll have to go to the cash register near the kitchen to pay for your meal. Overall, this place is great for a cheap good meal and I will be back for more!
