Glady’s and Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles has NOTHING on the Breakfast Klub. I don’t care I don’t care I don’t care what anyone has to say. Nope nope nope! The best thing about it is that the location is walking distance from my apartment. Which I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not since it doesn’t align with my healthy lifestyle. Unfortunately, this will be my go to place for breakfast from now on. The waiting in line outside part sucks, yes, but the experience exceeds all expectations. Especially how welcoming the staff members are from the time you arrive until the time you leave. Now I will say there isn’t any catering waitress type experience so I recommend getting your condiments and drinks before you sit down. Besides that the food, especially the CHICKEN, is seasoned to the God’s! It’s as if your country aunt is throwing down in the kitchen and you better clean your plate before you get up. Trust me you’ll clean that plate though because it’s that good!

If you want down home comfort food mixed with real southern hospitality, this place is the joint! Great food! Great proportions! Warm and courteous staff! Located in the heart of Houston, near the arts district. It’s been written up as one of the best restaurants in the country. I have eaten here twice for breakfast and late lunch, and have not been disappointed yet. Recommendations: Blends of coffee choices, check. Wings and Waffles, check. French toast, check. Fried Catfish and grits, check. Pancakes, check. Veggie omelette, check. Décor with original art work, check. Clean and efficient, check. Definitely my go to place!

What can I say about this place that hasn’t been said already? I used to play a little game and guess how many folks I’d see in the line when taking my pup out for walks– quick tip: Come at open(you’ll get parking in the tiny lot too). It always made me hungry way too early in the morning, but I can think of worse things to smell at 6am. I’m a fan of their benedict, and well– how can you go wrong with fried chicken?! Sure miss seeing that splash of yellow in the mornings though.

YUP! get there early! Place will be packed! Line wrapped, wear your sunblock. Went with an empty tummy and high expectations. Everything was satisfied at the end. #NOM I had chicken and waffles. The art solidified I’d made the right choice. Was super surprised and pleased to see me One of my sheroes Frida Kahlo on the wall, along with the irreplaceable Prince, and many other game changers. If you’re in Houston, it would be silly not to stop by, and just idiocy to oversleep and get there late.(You’ve been warned). Enjoy! Pics to follow!

Came for the hype and this place lived up to it. I came on a weekday around 10 am and the wait was very short. There are a couple of parking lots close to the restaurants that are reserved for its customers. The signature item: wings and waffles was delicious. The waffle wasn’t anything extraordinary, but the wings were well-seasoned and battered where the meat stayed tender and juicy after deep-frying. The other signature dish, catfish and grits, came with fried catfish, grits, toast, and sunny side up eggs. Each item was cooked well respectively: crispy batter coating the well-seasoned catfish, warm grits, and soft eggs. Coffee and water were self-serve, which means unlimited coffee! There’s a pretty wide selection of coffee to choose from. The Costa Rican is good to drink black.

Of course I tried the wings and waffles. The wings were delicious. The waffle was alright but nothing amazing. Overall, the food is good… but $ 15 for six wings and a waffle isn’t anything to write home about. I enjoyed it, but it didn’t quite live up to the hype.

The Breakfast Klub is a houston institution and for good reason! The atmosphere here is so welcoming and though the lines may seem long, it does move pretty quickly. So don’t be discouraged if you see the line wrapped around the building, the wait is never as long as it seems. Walk up to the counter and order, get your number and find a seat. I ordered the chicken and waffles since this is THE thing to order here. Crispy chicken lines the entire perimeter of the plate around the waffle. I personally don’t think it’s the best fried chicken i’ve ever had but I think this is one of those places you NEED to go to just to see what the hype is about.

Through all of my travels this has to be one of the not only best food spots in the country, but also features the most friendly and helpful staff. Some of the best fried chicken I’ve tasted, waffles, and sweet tea. Grits, eggs, and more are simply amazing and I force you to try the Breakfast Klub anytime you are in Houston. But the standout is the staff’s overall attitude towards great and helpful service. The owner has built a great blueprint and passed this on to his employees. You can also frequently catch the owner greeting guests and asking how your doing. This is one of the best ran food spots period and best staff period.

AMBIANCE: as southern as you get. Cute, fairly good sized place. Always packed! LOCATION: stand alone building with a small parking lot our front but it’s usually always filled with cars and a huge line! Best bet is do street parking and take a little stroll. SERVICE: good, efficient service. Very nice folks. FOOD: I come here for the chicken and waffles. It is hands down the best I’ve found. Crispy chicken with a very moist waffle. I do wish the chicken pieces were larger but I wouldn’t want to compromise the flavors. PRICING: fairly priced. I come here every time I visit Houston, Texas. $ 9 – 11

Unique southern breakfast restaurant, slightly pricy, but definitely a must try in Houston! We especially enjoyed the wings, it’s was very juicy and crispy. The waffle was much softer and buttery than normal Belgium waffle, and goes well with plenty of syrup. Fried kat fish had a weird smell to it, grits were also not my favorite. But I loved the sides: sunny side up eggs and biscuits, it was buttery and fluffy. They offer a variety of coffee choices, all are great! Food: 3⁄5 Price: 3⁄5 Ambience: 4⁄5 Service: 3⁄5 Favorites: Wings & waffle($ 14.99) — Belgian waffle with 6 wings Bottomless coffee($ 3.75) Other orders: Katfish & grits($ 14.99) — kat fish fillet, grits, 2 eggs and biscuits

Came back today for wings and waffles in the original building and everything was legit! Waffles had the perfect crisp, warm syrup over by condiments section. Wings– battered perfectly, seamless spice Biscuits & gravy– a little salty but I don’t mind because it’s friggin delish! Tip: just bare the wait for the original building

Have guests coming in from out of town? This is a MUSTSTOP on your list of places to take them for breakfast. Although the lines can get crazy long on the weekends, they have a great system of getting people in and out. Therefore, the lines move very quickly. The breakfast options are a little pricey, but that’s why it’s a great place to bring your company now and again.

Oh man~ I wanted to like this place. Everyone tells me they have really good chicken and waffles. The first time I came I was so disappointed. My friends and I waited in line for over an hour and a half and the food was mediocre. I thought I give it another try a few years later with my boyfriend in hopes that it was just that one time that it was off. We waited in line in the cold and rain for about 45 mins. The line moved smoothly and we ordered at the counter. WINGSANDFRENCHTOAST– 4 texas toast triangles battered, lightly grilled and sprinkled with powdered sugar with 3 wing pieces I was so disappointed in this dish. I thought it was going to be the best chicken I’ve ever had, but sadly it was one of my least favorites. The chicken was dry and flavorless. I was expecting something to wow me, but it was mediocre. It had a nice golden crisp skin, but all I could taste was some salt and nothing bold. The french toast wasn’t as fluffy as I would’ve liked. It was dry too and could’ve used more batter. Overall, this dish was a huge disappointment! I don’t think I would stand the wait again. There are plenty of other places that offer chicken and waffles or french toast for no wait and better flavors.

Ok so there’s a long line here for a good reason. No matter how long the wait is– IT. IS. WORTH. IT. My group ordered the chicken & waffles and katfish & grits. Service was SO fast and friendly. The food was out on the table just as I was pouring myself a cup of water. Both plates were big enough to share. Yes, the chicken had some grease in it but hey– that’s what fried chicken is all about. The waffles were so soft and fluffy. The katfish was also fried with great seasoning and with the grits, it made a great combo of flavors. I literally have nothing to complain about this restaurant.

Visited the Breakfast Klub a few weeks ago for a Sunday brunch with my buddy from out-of-Town and my girlfriend. The line was massively long as always and there was a very strange/nasty smell outside of the restaurant where the line was formed(most likely the nearby garbage dumpster). Shortly after being in line, a lady came up to us notifying us that a second restaurant seating area was opened right across the alley, but that it had a limited menu. We at first said no, but after waiting another 5 minutes without moving, we decided to accept the limited menu and go inside for immediate service. I think the limited menu offered 4 or 5 different dishes. Fortunately for me, I wanted the wings and waffles and that was on the limited menu. My girlfriend was a bit disappointed, but she settled on the breakfast special platter and a Bloody Mary. The wait wasn’t bad at all and the food looked amazing once it arrived. The dishes were a little pricey, but they were worth it as you received a ton of food. My girlfriend had to wait until 10am when Texas allows alcohol sales as long as food is on the table for her Bloody Mary. The wings and waffles were fantastic. The wings were perfectly breaded and seasoned and came out as full wings. The waffle was crisp on the outside, soft and delicious on the inside and it was very large. This place suffers from some of the issues I mentioned, but otherwise it is absolutely a 5 star place.

All the reviews are true. They have amazing wings & waffles! We waited in line for a bit but since Houston weather is always amazing, we didn’t mind. Someone came out and gave us menus so we can decided prior to entering to speed up the process. We got wings & waffle and pork chop with eggs. Their grits is super yummy and every thing is really good. Would definitely return!

This was not a recommendation by anyone, but rather a place I found the previous Sunday morning on Unilocal under«breakfast.» I was downtown, and it was the closest spot with the best star power, so I made the short trek. When I got there, I was saddened to see a line that wrapped around the building and down the freaking street. I knew it would take at least an hour just to get in, and then ordering food would be another story, so I decided to re-approach another day. Good move because there was absolutely no wait Tuesday morning. I got some of their famous coffee, which is severely understated in their reviews. I ordered some catfish, grits, cheesy eggs and a biscuit. Hot dayum! Everything was perfect. Catfish was light and crispy, eggs were firm yet not overcooked, biscuit was fluffy and the grits were creamy and oh-so buttery. I once made fun of my Chica for using the word«exemplary» to describe food. Open mouth, insert foot. The food here is good enough to use that adjective. And anyone who can finish their whole plate needs to get checked for a tapeworm because the portions are insane. The restaurant was clean and the service was extraordinarily friendly. Everything except the parking lot was top notch! Luckily we got a spot right out front though! This was my last stop in H-Town, and it left a lasting impression on my taste buds and stomach until about 4PM!

We were a little skeptical on this place. Everyone said they have such great food and the wait is looooong. After living in Houston for 18 months we figured it was time to check this place out. We absolutely loved it! Arrived at 830 on a Saturday, and of course there was a line. But that was expected. But it moved very quickly. We were sitting at eating our food by 9. We were out the door a little after 930. Atmosphere is great and the food is delicious. This place is a must see!!!

Parking is a little rough, line is always long, may take over 30 minutes depending on how long the line is.(Waiting) So the bought out julie’s and extended the breakfest klub to a limited menu. I think they wanted it to look a little more classy by adding tablecloth and a plant on each table. I prefer the original place with a full menu and slightly longer line. Wings & waffles –waffles are soft and fluffy if you want them crispy make sure you say something!*********** –waffles– i could start to taste the ingredients in the batter separately. .exp taste like they added hot sauce and thrn battered and then fried it. Meaning it taste like they didn’t mix the batter well enough. –The wings taste slightly different from how i remembered it to be before it got hyped up. is it because they are trying to accomodate more people faster? If you want it crispy make sure you let them know — i also think it went up in price a little Other items: dont be suprised if butter goes on everything! Grits, toast, everything. Butter is love –drinks: lemonade and sweet tea are pretty sweet already so i like to mix them together. Arnold palmer style ya know? In the signature(addition of bk) there’s no ice but don’t worry your drinks are still in the cold carton Service –great! Everyone was nice and helpful. Very hospitable, theres this older african american lady that always comes out with menus while you wait in line. I dont know what her name is but when i see her i get a homey welcoming feel. Biscuits and gravy are pretty good and shareable

This was the best place I ate at while visiting Houston. My friend that lives here highly recommended this place, and set plans for us to come eat here one morning. He was so excited for us to come here, and I see why. The line was pretty long to order when we first got here. It didn’t take long for the line to move and for us to get our food orders in. Lots of good food options on the menu, so it took me up until I got to the register to order to decide what I’d eat. I went with the French toast along with sausage and eggs. That was some of the best sausage I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Friendly service here and a place that I’ll definitely be back to when I come back to visit.

Wow what a treat. Totally impressed with this place and don’t know why I waited so long to eat here. Yah there is a line but when you are popular and serve impeccable food that’s what happens so deal with it. We had the wings and waffles duh no brainer and it was so good I would have slapped my momma if I were the slapping type but I’m not so I just enjoyed every last bite. Fluffy waffles, warm REAL syrup and the best fried chicken I’ve had in a long time. This dish is simple elegant and was executed flawlessly. Kudos Klub. We also had the egg dish and it came with thick slab peppered bacon that was thick and crisp, a buttermilk biscuit that was the perfect combination of flakey, chewy and buttery. I ordered the eggs over medium and I have never had a breakfast cook deliver such perfectly cooked eggs. Service wise they are all so friendly and accommodating. We felt like we were invited guests and really enjoyed the positive vibe from everyone on staff and all the other diners. This is a happy place with food that not only nourishes the body but also the soul. Keep it up Klub we’ll be back soon. Thanks!!!

Yes I know this review is super late but I have to do it. I visited The Breakfast Klub in 2013 on a Friday morning with my husband. Of course we used Unilocal which led us here. Luckily we got there right after the early morning rush at opening and right before the mid morning rush so we were maybe 5 or 6 in line. Once we got to the front our order was taken, we got our trays, got our coffee and sat and waited. I ordered the famous chicken and waffles. When it was brought over the chicken was slightly salty and the waffle was just a waffle. Sorry guys nothing amazing about the waffle. My eggs were cooked to perfection and service was delightful. The smiling faces and the employees making jokes made me feel at home. The environment was warm and welcoming even though the place started getting packed. By the time we walked out the line was around the corner again. We were lucky to find parking along side the building but if you get there late good luck! I definitely have to return and try some other items but I did enjoy my first visit evah!

There’s a reason this place has a 1,000 plus reviews. It’s incredible. A lot comes down to your tastes, but ultimately, their best food tends to be the simplest stuff: eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and toast. Delicious! You’ll see a giant line, which is normal, but service is surprisingly quick. They have an efficient seating system and the wait for food isn’t long. I love taking people here when they’re visiting from out of town. Coffee is self-serving. Lastly, parking isn’t the best. You’re limited to street parking, and honestly, it’s luck of the draw. You may have to walk a bit or you’ll get one right outside the restaurant. It’s not my favorite place to walk around(ie — safety) but you won’t fear for your life either. Besides, it’s worth the visit. Great food.

I guess all I can say is, I don’t get it?! I have had a lot of Chicken and Waffles in my day and considering this is their claim to fame, I was less than impressed. The Chicken was dry and bland, the Waffle was crusty and sad. So yeah, I won’t be ordering that again or probably ever venture back. Not only can you get better Chicken and Waffles elsewhere, you can generally get a better breakfast elsewhere. You’d also save yourself a lot of time by not waiting in their long lines. Bummer.

This place never lets me down, I’ve had there Chicken & Waffles countless times. I’ve also had a few of there specials of the day and those didn’t let me down either. If you’re not a morning person then be prepared for a wait. The one and only issue I have with here is the ridiculous line that builds up from the 9am hour till closing time. Im only kidding, I don’t really think this is a problem, all it shows is that they have really great food worth waiting for. Go try the food at the breakfast klub, you won’t be upset you had to wait in line. –Dumpster Juice

I’ve known people who have flown into Houston just to get these chicken and waffles. They are that good. Keep your eye out for the weekly lunch specials too. Chicken-fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans on Thursdays are a favorite. Friendly service, pleasant atmosphere. Long lines especially on weekends and during the lunch rush, but the food and hospitality here is worth it.

Every time I visit Houston, my boyfriend takes me to this great spot, and I try something new every time. Since this is a very popular spot, the parking space is very limited and sometimes you have to wait. I enjoyed how when we were waiting in line outside, and we were able to get water. This comes in handy especially during Houston’s hot summers. The service was great. The food was wonderful. The prices were up there but it was well worth it. It’s always an excitement visiting a restaurant that was on a television show(Steve Harvey Show). Can’t wait to be back. PS: Make sure you check the hours before you head in that direction. They do close earlier than most restaurants.

I loveee this place! The staff are always friendly and make waiting in line bearable. No matter what time you go there will always be some type of wait, I’ve always been around 9:30−10ish and the wait is about 30 minutes. Wings & Waffles: 5⁄5 Whatever they use for their wing batter is absolutely amazing! The wings are still juicy and has a good flavor with the spices in the batter. The waffles are good too but not the best waffles I’ve had in my life. Together with some syrup, the dish is perfect. I always order this when I go! French Toast: 4⁄5 Good, but not mind blowing. But if you’re craving french toast, you’ll be satisfied Catfish & Grits: 4⁄5 I’m generally not a grits fan, but theirs is pretty good. The catfish is awesome though! Like the wings, I’m not sure what they put in the batter but it’s so good and fried and crispy when it comes out. The price is a little high but it’s because they’ve received so much recognition by the press. You have to try it at least once if you haven’t already.

Came here for brunch on MLK day. Beware that the restaurant closes at 2PM everyday! New York brunchers have to adapt to the earlier time. The line is around the building and wraps around but they recently opened a back seating area with limited menu items so you can jump out of line into that area. No worries because the most popular 4 menu items including wings & waffles aka chicken & waffles is on there. We lined up in the back seating area where a waitress took our order in line. You then pay and get a table number at the cash register and by the time you sit down, your food will be at your table. amazing! Watch what’s being put in at the cash register though because my sweet tea was left off. There’s also a condiments table that includes the least vicious syrup you’ll ever eat, honey, peppers, etc. The wings & waffles were indeed very delicious. The three drumsticks and three wings were the perfect temperature, crunch, flavor and the waffles were fluffy. The powdered sugar and strawberry make the dish look more desirable!

I went to the Breakfast Klub this past Sunday for Brunch. I have heard so many great things about the Breakfast Klub, that I knew I had to check it out. I figured because it was Sunday morning it was going to be packed. When my friend and I arrived, there was a long line outside just like I expected. Surprisingly, the line moved fast and we made it inside the restaurant in about 15 minutes. The Breakfast Klub has a lovely procedure, where you actually go to the counter first to order and then get seated. The restaurant is well staffed so they are prepared for the rush of people that come to the restaurant. We got seated and our food was out within 10 minutes of ordering! I was shocked! On top of that, the food is absolutely scrumptious ! The food was fresh, hot and tasty. I had their famous Chicken and Waffles. They gave an abundant amount of food and I had enough to take home and eat the other half later on. I highly recommend the Breakfast Klub to anyone who visits Houston!

Breakfast Klub. I’ve heard people raving about it for so long… and I’m so glad it was AWESOME and lived up to the hype. It takes willpower to wake up early and drive all the way here. I had been researching on Unilocal and seeing how long the lines were. We ended up going here at 9:45 am on last Sunday. The line was maybe 15 – 20 people. The line moved fast and we were in and ordering 15 – 20 min later. As it was winter, the weather was cool and enjoyable. For parking, I found some free street parking and there are also random parking lots scattered around the vicinity. There are a lot of news articles and«best of houston» stickers decorating the door and wall by the entrance. During the wait, an employee heartily welcomed us, passed out menus, and reassured that the line moves quickly and we’d be in in no time. So I ordered the wings n waffle. I wandered to the table and BAM my wings were there like a second after I put my stuff down. Impressive! Now the rest of the food came within a few minutes, but that was seriously amazing. With the high demand, really they could prep food fast food style before you even order. They had hot syrup(which flows pretty smoothly) on tap and utensils by the cashier area. The wings were DELICIOUS! I tried bits and pieces of the grits, catfish, French toast, and eggs Benedict and it was all really yummy. What I really liked was the family atmosphere vibe. They’ve been serving excellent breakfast for so many years and there’s great teamwork going on for the end to end experience: a warm greeter outside, fast lines from the cashiers, fast food delivery from the cooks, occasional«how’s everything going» check-ins from the waiters, and a «how was your meal today» from the manager at the end. For such a busy and successful breakfast joint that’s been around for ages, I was impressed how they managed to make the experience personable and warm. I’m quite curious how they get people in and out so fast. We were not rushed in the least to finish quickly. Now the food is a bit on the pricy side and I heard they’ve been cranking up the prices as the demand definitely affords them that option. It was ~$ 15 for wings and waffle. Not bad for midtown, but. Definitely would come here again! I highly recommend dining in so you get food right out of the kitchen! I’ve eaten this to-go and it just doesn’t do justice.

There is so much I like about this place, I don’t even know where to begin… Ok, let’s start here: Delicious chicken and waffles, on par with the best I’ve ever had(they call them Wings & Waffles here), best grits I’ve ever had(including many other spots in the south), love the staff, love the artwork, love the whole vibe. I got a bunch of spicy sauces I was planning on using for the wings, but I didn’t need any of them. I didn’t want to mess with the flavor. I did use some syrup here and there because, well chicken and waffles you know. One thing that struck me about their fried chicken was how from the first bite to the last, it still pipping hot. I didn’t eat them that fast either. They were so damn good. I will say that their Klub Benedict, while still good, was not on the same level as the Wings & Waffles. They have a pretty big menu and some heart healthy options too. You will almost certainly be in a line if you come here for Sunday brunch like my friends and I did. It actually moves pretty quickly and will be totally worth the wait!!!

In a phrase: simple yet AMAZING. We both got the wings & waffles(how could we not). The waffle was great — melty beneath warm syrup — and paired so, so well with the chicken wings. These wings were amazing. They were perfectly spiced, cooked, and crispy. The only bad part of the meal was the side of grits that we got, which was honestly just bland and over-buttered(I want my grits to taste like grits, not butter!). The service is great. The employees do everything they can do move the line along quickly & they’re good at what they do. Our food was out a few short minutes after we’d ordered it and tasted fresh and delicious despite the speed. Also, the décor is awesome and fun! All in all, a great place and a must go if you’re in Houston.
