Don’t know what’s going on, but the door has a big chain and padlock on it when Unilocal says it’s supposed to be open

What a great experience! We almost drove right past it because it doesn’t have a huge sign. It is a diamond in the rough! Everybody was so friendly, we felt right at home. The chicken and waffles were amazing and the omelette was light and fresh. There is nothing fancy about this place, it’s just good home cooking. We will be back!

Food was soooooo goooood! The eggs were fresh as well as the coffee. I literally tried everything on the breakfast menu with my family and I walked out without that heavy feeling from over eating. Overall the experience was awesome. It’s a small hole in the wall with great prices and service. Great neighborhood feel.

Place was hot, as in no AC working. Brought our friends from NOLA. The people were nice and the food was good. I really like the chicken wings and cant wait to go get more. Yummy. The waffles were ok but not great. I put a lot of butter and syurp and it was ok. The wings were the best. They need to have there dinner menu to come back they got rid of some of the best things on the menu. For breakfast they are great. Please bring back the other items!

It was 97 degrees in Houston this past week, yet this place did not have the air conditioning on! With the small space and the stove on high, it was unbelievably hot. We sat dripping in sweat, trying to tough it out because hey– 4.5 stars and the menu looked AMAZING! Hearty breakfast dishes and soul food favorites like oxtail, yams, fried catfish, fried chicken, meatloaf, greens, mac n’ cheese… everything looked mouthwatering! The lady at the counter was very busy so we waited patiently in the heat until she was able to get to us. Upon taking our order, she told us that they don’t have ANY of the lunch items anymore(this was 1PM). They have yet to update the menus but her mother was retiring and they would only be offering breakfast. I was super disappointed because this was a good 75% of the menu options. Instead I opted to go for breakfast which she told me they were serving all day. I decided on an order of fish and grits but was told they just had fish and no grits. What was going on? At this point we just decided between the lack of a current menu and extreme heat inside that we needed to go elsewhere. So sad because I was looking forward to this place very much.

Didnt get a chance to eat here but service is awful. I waited in the front for 10 minutes until a random woman on a stool asked if I was ready to order. Got another older lady who proceeded to make a personal phone call instead of taking my order. Mind you its 1000 degrees inside with no AC. I see chicken sitting on the back counter and eggs left out. I walked out. No thanks.

4 ladies on a quick overnight getaway to Houston. Googled«brunch in Houston» and this place came up and The Breakfast Club came up. The line was too long at TBC, so we continued on. BABY! This right here is in point. Chicken and waffles, perfection! Fish and grits, fabulous. Fried potatoes, delicious! While everything didn’t come out at the same time, it was HOT when you got it. Don’t let the curb appeal fool you. This is the best home cooking you’ll ever have.

So happy to have found this place! Down home cooking made with love! I must say they have their seasoning game on point! The Chicken & Waffles were just excellent and made fresh to order. Don’t let the outside appearances fool you… Come on in for one of the best breakfasts you will have!

This hole in the wall place had some great reviews on Unilocal so I thought I should check it out. In fact I convinced my whole office to do so all at one time. That was our first mistake. This little place couldn’t really support the idea of 10 people ordering and wanting food at the same time. Rather than displace the entire café, the place only holds about a dozen people or so… we took over the picnic style area outside. Good thing it was a nice day! Our orders came out one or two at a time over the course of about ten to fifteen minutes. They said they had an issue with some kitchen equipment. The staff did the best they could given the circumstances. Our drink orders got a little mixed up, but again the staff did what they could to make it all work. The food itself was alright. I had the fish and shrimp with mac & cheese and fries. I enjoyed what I had, but I wasn’t amazed by it. Big portions at a good price though. Despite my 3 star review, I say its worth checking out… everyone else seems to think its amazing.

Me. Vikki and Co. Are awesome. I had breakfast: a fluffy shortstack, bacon and eggs. My mom had the turkey necks, rice with gravy, okra and tomatoes, yams, and a slice of cornbread. We enjoyed everything and we will be back.

I came to check out their chicken and waffles. Their fried chicken was on point! They probably have the best deal in town when it comes to the Chicken and waffles: $ 7.50 for the 4 piece and $ 10.50 for the 6 piece. Wait time for your food to be served is about 5 minutes– which is nice if you are on your lunch break. They usually have a daily specials. I will definitely be back to try a few other items on the menu.

Southern cooking like your grandmother used to make. If you’re cutting calories or on a diet SKIPIT, but if you’re looking for a group of sweet older women who can cook their a$$e$ off, then this amazing soul food restaurant is the spot.

Best cup of coffee I’ve ever had. Additionally, you don’t feel like a stranger when you walk in here. The sweet old ladies make you feel right at home and their cooking is downright homey. Fun story: I’ve never had grits. And then I came here and first, they laughed their asses off. Second, they made me some and I tried and I want me some more. Definitely a great place I’m coming back to within the week.

The food was DELICIOUS and made me feel so at home! I ordered French Toast, Grits, and Eggs and felt like all of it was cooked by my own mom. The place is on the small side(like other reviews say), but it gives it a «home-y» sort of feel; you can tell that it’s a family-based place. I would have given 5 stars, but the little cute boy that was wondering around ending up becoming quite overwhelming after a while-mainly when my food came out.

If you love southern food, then this place makes you feel right at home. The staff there are really nice and make you feel like you’re at home. Reminds me a lot of my own grandma growing up lol. They serve breakfast all day, my first two times here I got the grits and eggs with sausage which was really good. Today I got the fish and shrimp with a side of Mac and cheese, yams, and cabbage. Came out super hot and burned my tongue, but was really good. No matter your background, if you grew up on southern foods, this place will make you feel really comfortable, it’s even a great place if you’ve never had it before and just trying for the first time because of how comfortable the staff makes you. I’m a student at UH a mile or two down the road and I’ve found myself being a regular here already before or after class.

I came in here after reading the review & I must say, it really feels, smells, & tastes like home. I had the pancakes, eggs, & hash browns & I am pleased to say, ITWASAWESOME! I had been wanting pancakes for so long & these were so good that I’m already planning my next visit. The owner Ms. Vicky is the sweetest & extremely accommodating. If you’re a lover of breakfast, they serve it ALLDAY! I can’t wait to try their lunch dishes. Long story short, come here ASAP! The only bad thing I can say is that they’re closed on Sunday’s lol, but it’s understandable because everyone needs a break. Best breakfast food in the area! The owner even informed me that they will be having oxtails Sundays beginning in January ’15!

I think I sat in here for about 3 hours, eating and talking. This is a true greasy spoon type diner and love it! It has counter and table seating and is open for breakfast and lunch. Although they have a chalkboard menu, be sure to look at the handheld menu for more options. It’s a small place, with about 5 counter seats and 4 tables that seat four and it has minimal outside seating. With the right group of folks, it feels like eating at home. I haven’t quite had everything on the menu and I have yet to be disappointed with the food or the experience.
