Subpar food. Unlike ravens, their dishes did not quite fly with me. :( I had the Raven Dinner and got to try one of their pasta dishes with shrimp in it. The Raven dinner wasn’t bad, but definitely reminded me of Taco Cabana-esque food. The pasta tasted pretty good though, I’ll give them that! I just had much better expectations based off the environment and atmosphere presented to me upon entering.

I had The Raven Dinner and it was delicious. My Hubby had the Red Snapper Special & ate every bite. The service was great and the ambiance was wonderful.

Granted I got something really simple to make(grilled cheese) but the ingredients blew me away! Maybe Austin needs to up their sandwich game, but the sourdough bread was so light and airy, it was nothing but perfect. We had the onion rings for an appetizer(I wear a fit bit so who needs a diet right?) and these were amazing as well. So crispy, but not overly fried. Wine prices were over priced, but I would come back again and try the enchiladas which seemed like everyone’s favorite on the menu. This is definitely a neighborhood restaurant, and gotta like a place that can keep the same clientele time after time!

We love this place and come here from time to time with friends. It’s a great place for families and the service is wonderful. My favorite thing on their menu is the spinach and sweet potato enchiladas.

Nice atmosphere, great wait staff and my food was delicious. Highly recommend the pecan crusted chicken– it came with the roasted sweet potatoes and green beans, it was all super good. We will be back!

I got the Seafood Enchiladas and they were the definition of A-OK. Solid choice, but I’ve had better. The Fudge Brownie Melt was definitely worth ordering however. Decent atmosphere, but not exactly hopping at lunchtime, which I always find concerning.

Needed a restaurant to go to on a Monday evening to take out of town friends that would be casual and laid back but offering a nice variety of good food to showcase Houston’s wonderful variety of good eating establishments. So I decided on my go-to neighborhood restaurant, The Raven. The were four of us for dinner so we started out with two appetizers; half a dozen of the Jalapeño Shrimp and half a dozen of the Fried Oysters with Remoulade Sauce. Both superb! For the main course, three of us had Grilled Catfish and the fourth had Cedar Plank Salmon. All four were incredibly tasty and delicious and I thought that my catfish was some of the best that I have ever had! Ended the evening with their Crème Brulee which was superb also. Service was wonderful, as always and my out of town guests enjoyed their dining experience very much which was my objective! Thank you Raven Grill.

Probably my favorite restaurant in Houston, especially since the price is very reasonable. The pork chops and the bacon wrapped filet are my two favorite meals there. The feel inside the restaurant is great and it makes it an excellent place for a nice time out. The dessert options are fantastic as well. Even early in the week at night, the parking lot always seems full. You can never go wrong by eating at The Raven!

The standout quality here is this place is 5 minutes from my residence, but interestingly, I’ve only been twice since learning of this place in 2007. On my most recent visit, and since I’ve been a victim of sauce overkill at many restaurants, I ordered the pecan crusted chicken with sauce on the side. Good move on my part. The chicken was flavorful and evenly cooked albeit a little greasy for my taste; my dinner companion had a few bites and loved it. The veggie sides were mostly under-seasoned. I didn’t even look at the wine list and instead went straight for a dirty martini. It served its purpose. I feel a lot of neutrality toward this place. I’m like Switzerland: The atmosphere is just OK. The service is just OK if not a little too doting(go away). The food is just OK. Others have remarked that it’s a bit overpriced for what seems like an upscale Applebee’s, and I tend to agree. Until they step up their atmosphere and food game, I can’t find a compelling reason to return.

Very delicious, well priced, good service. I like that you don’t have to make reservations. The atmosphere is low-key. I had the catch-of-the-day, which was terrific. The fried green tomatoes that came with it was the best I’ve ever had.

Stopped in for the first time in about two years. My wife had the Sweet Potato Enchiladas and I had the Salmon. The food was good. Service was good So why only three stars? I discovered a stone in my salmon. It was the last bite so I didn’t make a huge deal about it. I pointed it out to the waiter. He was mortified and brought it to the attention of the cook. But my wife and I were surprised that after pointing something like that out, that they did nothing to try and make up for it. Not even an offer of dessert? Like I said, the food was good. But the stone and the lack of trying to make up for it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It was two years since our last visit. I’m not sure when the next visit will take place.

Absolutely delicious!!! Great service, food was great, portion size is excellent. My wife and I were both loving every bite. If you go you HAVE to get the brownie for dessert, it melts in your mouth. The atmosphere is casual. Kids are welcome.

Hard to think we’ve been coming here for 10(or maybe more) years. A true neighborhood spot with a loyal clientele. No reservations but call ahead and determine if there is a wait; if so, get on the waiting list. A nice space — some would call it comfy. Noise level typically low. Generally good service. Decent bar. Food — not spectacular but always good. Menu has tended to enlarge with time. Pricing good — you can have a nice meal in the teens $. They do well on pastas, seafood, and stand bys(as pot roast). The wine selection could be improved and clearly the by-the-glass option is a real $-maker for them. Most are priced at $ 8 — $ 12 and way overpriced. Have any of these folks considered offering a decent $ 6 per glass? Overall, it is a good spot for a no hassle dinner.

I might have given the underseasoned and overpriced entrees a second shot on a another occasion, but my stomach says NO! Spending most of the night in «the John» from eating the crab meat and shrimp enchilada is not my way of ending the evening. The aesthetics are very marketable and attractive to many with it’s rustic romantic vibe, but my poor stomach never EVER wants to be in this much agony again!

The Raven is a great place and very consistent. I usually go for lunch and am a huge fan of the wood grilled burgers. I usually ask for onion rings instead of fries. The onion rings are huge and delicious. I have tried many things on the menu but always seem to gravitate back to the burgers. It is difficult to not be happy with your meal at The Raven. They use high quality fresh ingredients in everything on the menu. The staff is always friendly. Even my 8 year old girl who is extremely picky loves the chicken strips.

This is a cute, local place to stop by for brunch or lunch. Nothing about this restaurant is remarkable — no cute decorations, super friendly waiters, great food items. Yet, still, I enjoyed the experience and will potentially stop by again. It’s set in the middle of a neighborhood so there’s a very quaint vibe. I’ve been twice, and my experience was the same both times(the only thing that changed was my order). I do wish they had better bread to set on the table, because they leave you in between courses for quite a while. It’s good diet control though!

I came here for lunch on a weekday with my dad. I wasn’t impressed with this place, although I can’t pinpoint anything bad or wrong. The setting is nice, and I really enjoyed the raven theme. There is very little parking, but we found a spot today so we decided to stop in. The place definitely attracts a well-to-do crowd… At least for lunch. We joked that everyone there looked like a professor at Rice. I was by far the poorest person there. I ordered the spicy southwestern shrimp salad, which only came with 4 shrimp. The salad cost $ 14, and it was enough to fill me for maybe an hour or two. I would kind of expect for a $ 14 salad for it to be enormous or filled with shrimp, so I am left thinking the salad was kind of a rip off. My dad had the pecan crusted chicken, which came with green beams and sweet potatoes. He wasn’t thoroughly impressed either, but had no complaints. The service we had was good! I probably won’t be back, only because I’m rarely in the area for lunch, but I’d be willing to give other dishes a shot before I write this place off.

Arrived at Uchi for dinner when they told us it was going to be over an hour and a half wait! No thanks, so being somewhat nearby, I decided to bring my bf here since I enjoyed the sweet potato spinach enchilada I had a few years ago. Just to be sure I called to ask about the wait, and luckily there wasn’t one. However, after this dining experience I might be able to shed some light as to why. We were seated promptly, and a few minutes later our waitress came by to ask for our drink and food order. We weren’t ready so asked for a few minutes as their menu is a bit overwhelming with choices of pasta, burger, enchiladas, chicken, pork, and daily rotating dinner specials… Grilled Shrimp Pasta: I only had a few bites of this, but it was completely underwhelming, tasteless, and just greasy. Bf reports the pesto tasted old, and just bland/oily, missing the pecans, and the fettuccine wasn’t cooked right. The only acceptable component of this dish was the slightly overcooked shrimp. Pecan Crusted Chicken: I had such high hopes for this as it is after all one of The Raven’s Favorites. The first few bites I took were a tease as the chicken was actually tender, but then I started to eat a few more to learn the chicken was cooked quite unevenly. There were some parts that were super tough to cut through, making the batter crumble, revealing that it was mostly bread crumbs with interspersed pieces of pecans. They didn’t even try with the veggies, literally grilled sweet potato and sauteed green beans with the inedible ends still left on! The ancho sauce was flavorful and I guess you were supposed to dip all your food in it. Because it was my bf’s birthday they gave us a complimentary dessert of a molten lava chocolate cake, and I would say this was pretty good, super rich and chocolatey. I would rate our overall dining experience as 1.5 stars, our waitress didn’t seem to care about our order, our glasses were always empty(we had to flag down someone, who only acknowledged us because another table of older white ladies were flagging her down and we got lucky and intercepted). The complimentary bread(from Picnic next door) wasn’t given to us until about 15 minutes of waiting and when we got it, it was cold. I asked for it to be toasted, our waitress looks at me like I am cray cray, and then brings back burnt bread(they don’t have a toaster). The only slightly redeeming factor was the bday dessert which our waitress didn’t even know the name of.
