My boyfriend and I frequent this establishment– always get good service and always have a good time. I’m not sure if the bartenders recognize us, except we were there on Sunday and Cami was working. I had only met her once, months ago, but she remembered EXACTLY what I drank — and my preferred cocktail is a little more demanding than most. She gives excellent service, smiles and has a great memory. When the cocktail waitresses were being catty and talking badly about one of the female bar guests, Cami handled it quickly and quietly — telling them they had NO room to bad mouth anyone. Needless to say, I was quite impressed. My boyfriend and I will continue to enjoy this bar!

The bartender was completely uninterested in serving us. There were only 2 other people at the bar and it wasn’t busy at all. Every time we asked for something, it took us at least 10 mins to flag her down and it seemed like she was being bothered, not to mention the drink she made was horrible. The place is decent but this experience made it not worthwhile.

Bad service. We sat outside forever without being greeted. Overpriced, it sucks because it’s close to my apt and now I have to go somewhere else.

Service is bad. Sat outside around 4. Not even busy. Server didn’t even come and give us menus. We had to ask for it. Didn’t even come back to get our drink orders. So we left. We would not return.

Horrible food and service! Had the sampler the calamari was cold I informed the waitress and initially she didn’t offer to fix the problem she immediately assumed I wanted the bill comped. After I informed her I wanted to eat the food I ordered, she put in another order, only for it to come out cold.

I’ve been to The West End multiple times, mostly because it is so close to work. Definitely not for the service. Many times you will wait a while before your waitress will check on the table. I get that sometimes they are busy, but it would be nice if they would have more servers to handle all of the tables. On Wednesday they have steak night and the steak is pretty good! The experiences I’ve had have been completely hit or miss though. The first time i went with a group from work and the waitress forgot about my steak completely. I had to remind her about my order. When my order still didn’t come, i flagged down a manager. I finally ate after everyone else at my table had their plates cleared. The second time i went, my food came out promptly and our waitress was the most attentive that i have ever had at West End. It was definitely a nice surprise. Aside from the service, they do have a good sized patio and a decent selection of beers, but, like i said, it is close to work… I won’t come here willingly, but i MIGHT be back.

I am very surprised to see low reviews for The West End– spending Saturday night here was one of the highlights of my trip to Houston. I’m glad that I didn’t check Unilocal before following my AirBnb host’s recommendation for a chill place to hang out on a Saturday night– otherwise I might never have gotten to enjoy it. Thanks to a great patio, solid drink selection, and incredible ambiance, my friend and I were able to enjoy a relaxing night outside, away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby Galleria. The quesadillas we had were awesome, in addition to my Not Your Father’s Root Beer Float. Was the service great? Not particularly– but what do you expect for a bar that just happens to serve food? I would definitely go back to the West End the next time I’m in Houston.

I really like this place, during the day the people and crowd are great. Love the area, it’s relaxing. On Tuesday’s if you feel the need for a run come join the running club. However the servers could be more attentive to the customers and less involved with personal conversations. For example on steak night(Wed) it gets kind of packed at certain times, but then it dies down. Well we showed up around 9 pm and it was still a little busy but not to where you should be waiting at a table without service for nearly 20 min. Twice a waitress with short hair came around to the two tables next to us but never stopped to give us water or menus. And a gentleman literally stood on the patio for 10 min made eye contact with us three times yet still did not come to see if anyone needed service. We tried multiple times to get attention but theybwere just not having it. I guess you have your waiters and waitresses that actually care about a little about their job and customer service… and some who just want to flirt with the regulars for your usual tip. But little do you know your tip would’ve been twice as much. — Just Sayin

I don’t understand why this place has such terrible reviews. Is it fine dining? No! This is a bar. They have a good beer selection, a lot of liquor choices and good specials. Is the service outstanding? No, it is not perfect, but it is far from terrible. I’ve had food that wasn’t that good, but again, it is not fine dining. It is a bar. They need to fix the fountain and the patio. The patio ground is all broken and the fountain doesn’t work anymore.

We sat outside on a Friday afternoon and had an attentive server. I had a few craft beers, they have a good selection of drinks. The thing that really turned me off was that the valet guy asked me straight up for a tip! I literally didn’t have any cash and I told him as much. How rude! I’ve never been asked for a tip before, and that put a really bad taste in my mouth.

This is an OK place, we went there after work; the outdoor is nice of course depending on the weather, is not noisy but due to the fact that is in a corner there traffic noise is in the background. Service was very good, we were never unattended. Good variety of beers, we also tried mango martini, good but very sweet, and the absolute mule, very good and a great hint of ginger. Appetizers were not good at all, we ordered the combination platter and guacamole and chips; only the egg rolls were good. It’s ok for a couple of drinks and chat but that’s it.

Came for their Wed steak night with some coworkers. The steak night deal includes a 12 oz ribeye and a baked potato with all the trimmings for $ 16. They have a giant fiery pit outside by the entrance of the restaurant where you can see them grilling the steaks. Honestly, the ribeye was delicious! And cooked to the perfect medium rare. Didn’t need any A1 sauce at all. Also ordered an extra side of brusselsprouts that comes from this list of sides that’s available on steak nights only. They were not too bad! The seasoning was pretty tasty! So… Food? Awesome! But service and environment? Knocks this place down to two or three stars only. You must park by complimentary valet only. We’re lucky someone had a couple extra dollars to tip the valet… Who carries cash anymore?! You can dine inside or outside, but most of the seating is outside on the patio. Outside is also where the smoking is though, and let me tell you… Almost everyone out there is a smoker. By the end of my meal, I was so nauseous from all the smoke, and had a slight headache too. To top things off, we had an incredibly rude waitress! She got snappy at one of my friends just because he was excited about dessert and started ordering out of order! There’s only 4 of us it’s not that hard to keep track of things! Never once did she smile, you could tell she was either new or was having a bad day and taking it out on us. At the end of our meal, we tried to show her our Unilocal-check-in-offer(50% off ANY tap beer) and she didn’t seem to want to do it for us. She kept zooming by in a hurry to get to other tables, saying«I don’t know how to do that» or «I’ll have to ask my manager» in passing. Understandable… But she could have been nicer about it instead of making us feel like pests. After another 20 min waiting for our checks we tried to get her attention again. She finally stopped and told us very rudely that we couldn’t use it. That the tap beers we had were already discounted and that she couldn’t(or wouldn’t?) do it for us. Not too sure if that was true or not, but if it were, they should have made that memo on the Unilocal deal because I didn’t see any other restrictions, and it made our experience that much more disappointing. I actually am craving their ribeye again as I write this review… But from that unpleasant experience alone I refuse to return. They can keep their Unilocal coupon bc it’s not worth returning to redeem unless you’re someone who doesn’t care about quality of service.

The karaōke is just an add-on. But if you want a steak that’s not dry and splintering into shards for just $ 15, Wednesday steak night is a great deal. When was the last time you had a decent steak and a glass of Blue Moon for under $ 20? For me, last Wednesday.

I live right down the street so my girlfriend and I tried West End tonight. Our experience was awful. The only good part was our waitress. The draft beers we ordered had ZERO carbonization and no head. I don’t think I’ve ever sent a beer back, but my draft Shiner was horrible. I sent mine back and asked for anything in a bottle because we didn’t want to test another of their drafts. My girlfriend had fish and chips and the fish was completely over cooked. The batter was totally burned. My chicken sandwich was forgettable. Even the water didn’t taste good. Don’t go here!

This was awful. The best thing about my experience there was our waitress Jessie. The worst things are as follows — my English beer(bottington’s) came flat with almost no head. My boyfriend’s Shiner came looking like a pint glass full of iced tea with no ice. We sent the beer back, and our waitress was apologetic, however, she charged us for both of the flat beers AND the replacement beer that she offered. I ordered the fish and chips for dinner, and the fish was so over cooked that every bite fell apart more than the next and the batter was slimy on the inside. Also, it’s served in a basket with a wire bottom lined with paper. So if you try to use a fork to pick up the fallen bits, you’ll stab through the paper and your food can start falling onto the table as you eat. It also smelled like urine on the way out the door from the patio. I’m not sure how far we were from the bathrooms… so there’s that. All in all, we probably aren’t going to be returning.

The good: the extra large patio. Great place to take in those beautiful spring Houston afternoons. The bad: everything else is just meh. I came mid-afternoon on a Saturday. We had just come from a crawfish boil fundraiser around the corner. We were just getting drinks and a few lite bites. The food wasn’t terrible, it just wasn’t memorable. The bathroom was disgusting. It was earlier in the day and there weren’t may people around. So this makes me think they just didn’t clean it from the day before. It was filthy — disgusting even.

Came here to watch the NBA finals, so it was pretty packed. The crowd is mainly outside, but they do have indoor seating as well. The benches are community style, meaning you will be sitting with random people. Service was decent. Took a while to flag our waitress down for the check… Their selection of alcohol was not extensive, but I didn’t expect for it to be. Very casual, very loud. Not much I can honestly say about the bar. Would I come back? Yeah, just for large events P. S. If you check in, you get 50% off a beer! I forgot to use mine though…

Average. Food isn’t bad, and I’m appreciative they have some, but there’s nothing about this place that stands out. About $ 5 for a beer and the service can vary in speed depending on if you’re standing at the bar or sitting down at a table. That said, the servers were friendly and were patient when explaining menu options. Atmosphere is clean and nice enough, but it doesn’t fit the category of dive bar or upscale bar. Attracts lots of Galleria professionals as opposed to the t-shirt crowd. Valet is pretty much mandatory. You could look at this as a positive or find it annoying.

I recently moved to the Galleria/Uptown area and decided to give this a try. My experience wasn’t terrible but certain things kept me from giving this a 3 or 4 star review. The bar area, staff, and service are great, but nothing made me want to come back. The bar is very nice in terms of layout. It has a bar(duh!), a nice outdoor patio, and a side room that looked like it was fully enclosed. The bar area is covered but is open to the outside. I feel like this is a place to hang out at when the weather is very nice. Service was good. We sat in the bar area and had a waitress. She was pleasant and attentive. When we used our«check-in coupons», and later when we had to send some drinks back, she was very nice and eager to resolve/handle whatever we needed. Now the food and drinks. After all, that is why we came to this place. My girlfriend and I ordered beers. Both were not properly carbonated, as in they had no carbonation. Her Shiner Bock tasted old and so did my Bass. My girlfriend ended up getting a bottled beer and they didn’t charge us for the bad beer. The food was meh… I had a BLTA that tasted fine but didn’t make me want to come back. My girlfriend had the shrimp and grits, but they were kinda weird. It was covered in a spicy sauce with a bunch of vegetables, but only had a little bit of the aforementioned shrimp and grits. I can appreciate chefs putting their spin on food, but it didn’t fell like shrimp and grits. Overall, I don’t think I will return, but I urge others to try it for themselves. It was fairly busy when we were there.

Omg their stake nights are fantastic. Every time I think of steak I think of west end! Fun place to dine or lounge. Good drinks and severs. The service is deff on top, and they care about their guests a lot. There’s valet which makes everything just simple and easier. The outdoor area is so comfy and cozy to be with friends and even for business meetings. The ambiance is cool and casual. Yet a lot of phoning professionals among the elders. I can decide if day time is better or night time. Both seem to have their own pluses. I recommend this place to my friends and Unilocalers. Try the steak for sure and even the chicken with quinoa.
