I had a blast at Tobins Lounge. The atmosphere was to die for even though they were playing older songs from the 90’s. It was only $ 5.00 to get in and the drinks were reasonable to me. My cousin who is 27 invited me to come with her and I am only 21, but the older people in the place were pretty cool. I will be going back soon.

Valet is $ 10 + tip! Parking sucks, there’s a cover and it’s just alright. I am not a fan of the bathroom doors either. Yuck!

Its nice to have a lounge in town when you feel like dancing but not driving and having to deal with parking. Parking is plentiful and free, no cover on a saturday night before 10.30. I got bottle service and it was okay, not the best service i have had but my standards are pretty high. The crowd was kinda mixed, older early in the night and got younger and more hip hop later in the evening but it was nothing rowdy or «young». It wasnt pretentious, although i am suprised at the vast amount of reserved tables in a suburb bar. The DJ was awesome and i danced till i wanted to cut off my feet! It was perfect for a chill evening and i would return.

After reading reviews of Tobin’s Lounge and looking over the website, I knew what to expect of Tobin’s Lounge… a want to be pretentious lounge on the west side of town filled with Affliction shirts. I was exactly right. Thanks to Jaime B’s review I knew about the $ 75 hold, while I wasn’t thrilled I would think they bartender/server would mention it… nope. It’s now 4 days later and there is still a hold on my account, my tab was only $ 6! Which brings me to Happy Hour, everything on the menu(other than specialty drinks) are $ 1 off and they have free sushi from Kim Son. We were the only table in the place, after waiting for about 15 minutes I decided to order a drink from the bar… good idea. On average the wait for drinks from our server was around 15 minutes. I heard Wednesday & the weekends were the«best» nights here(I’m pretty sure that just means it’s crowded). The whole space is lined with leather couches and I’m assuming the center area is the dance floor, I can see this being a nightmare when drinks start flowing and the dancing starts. Tobin’s Lounge is located in the wrong part of town for what they’re trying to accomplish. Being an upscale lounge is one thing; however, dress to impress and a $ 75 hold will not work if you’re location doesn’t call for it. I would much rather go to Rattan, Watson’s or ANYWHERE that doesn’t hold my money and dictate what I should wear. If I want to dress up and pay for overpriced drinks(and bad service) I’ll go downtown.

We live close to Tobin’s and were really looking forward to having a new lounge in the area. Although the décor and ambiance are upscale, the service and business practices are not! The server sat at our table while we were getting our cash together as soon as she sat the drink down. We go out to bars a lot and this was horrible service. The few servers that came by were almost irritatingly needy. Then to find out the bar put a $ 75 hold on my bank account when I ordered just ONE drink. When I brought this up to the manager, Shawn’s, attention he didn’t seem to care at all. BEWAREOFTOBIN’S LOUNGE. They think they’re a downtown club rather than a bar in a West Houston strip center.

There’s finally a fashionable, upscale bar in the Energy Corridor. Since I live less than a mile from Tobin’s I was following the opening closely, and it was worth the wait. The attractive waitresses and attentive staff made me feel welcome, with the GM and owner both personally thanking me for coming. The décor and atmosphere can stand up to any downtown club. Perhaps most importantly, the silhouette dancing behind the bar is h-o-t. I really hope this place takes off because it fills a void in this part of town.
