Food is subpar. Servers are not attending at all. The prices are okay. Houston has many more options that this establishment.

My parents are Regios and they love this place. Nothing can really compare with the food native to your hometown but it’s really a good substitute. Food: 4⁄5 It’s really really good! Stick to the classics. Our go-tos are the TOSTADAS. It’s a massive helping of chicken(white or dark meat) with crema and guacamole served between two perfectly fried giant tostadas. The milanesa, all the tacos and enchiladas are great. The menudo was pretty lousy… Same for the beef caldo. Would not recommend. Service 4⁄5 overall ok but a bit distracted as it does get very busy. I’ve seen some bad reviews from people expecting tex mex. This is Mexican food typical of Monterrey. You wont find yellow cheese or chilli gravy. The style is a bit plain and less saucy. Use the salsa and pickled jalapeño to give the subtly seasoned food a bit of a kick.

Authentic Mexican food! Delish tacos… I ordered the gringa and pirata and was not disappointed. My cousin got the milanesa and loved it as well, I would definitely come back!

I have been hearing about this place from my Boss who eats here quite frequently and at their other location. When I’m hungry at work, I always look on Unilocal for places around me that I can try and when I didn’t find anything I was in the mood for, I asked my boss what she was hungry for and she mentioned lets order from Tostada Regia. At first I was hesitant, like I always am with new places, but then I said«why don’t we just get out of the office and eat there» and she was all for it. So we pull into the parking lot, and it’s big– so no worries on trying to find a parking spot. We walk in the doors and the first thing I thought was«wow this is huge and busy». We were seated right away and they took our drink order. They brought the drinks and chips and salsa to our table– my favorite is the green. I ordered the entomatadas regias and my boss ordered the two taco plate(forgot the name but it starts with a P). It was about 10 – 15 minutes before they brought our food out, which isn’t bad considering how many people were in there during lunch time. My meal was SUPERB! It was soo good considering I didn’t have any meat. I hate to admit that it was so good that I ALMOST finished the entire plate– and the reason I say that, is because it was a lot of food– you could most definitely share it. We just ate there yesterday– and I’m already thinking about placing a to go order and trying something else like one of their tortas. Also– the server I had did not care that I couldn’t speak Spanish!

Had the Tacos Combinados with 2 trompo and 3 bisteck and also the pirata plate. The food was good but definitely a lot more greasy than I was used to. I have been going to tacos del julio and their tacos are not as oily but they closed and so I’ve been searching for the best taco place nearby.

I love the breakfast tacos from this place and the price is reasonable as well. If you’ve never tried this place before, don’t hesitate!

This place was legit, went for the traditional tostadas and they did not disappoint. I had the shredded beef and chopped steak, they were outstanding. My wife had the tacos al trompo. And they were alright. There were a lot of fat chunks in the meat. The service was very helpful. I know where to go when craving tostadas.

Great food. Hot and fast service. I don’t speak much Spanish but some how we get our orders correct. We go to this restaurant a couple times a month. Sauces that come with your chips are terrific. And CHEAP prices.

When our brunch plans fell through as we arrived at another Unilocal approved brunch spot that happened to be closed for remodeling, we stumbled onto this Mexican joint which wasn’t too far away in a strip mall near Gessner. Walking in, the place was packed at this no frills, mostly Spanish speaking joint. We were greeted by our server in Spanish and attempted to respond back in what little phrases we knew. We did have to ask for chips and salsa, not sure if our server forgot, or just didn’t really care. The brunch menu was short and simple, and super cheap! The ranchero style eggs are served with red salsa, potatoes, beans, some veg, tortillas(corn or flour) and choice of ham, chorizo, bacon or sausage for only $ 4.75. While they were nothing amazing, it was a filling meal and you can’t really complain for that price.

My favorite place in the Branch to get a cheap authentic bite. I am not a fan of their shredded chicken tostada, which is the original. I prefer the Nortenitas, which are smaller tostadas topped with whatever meat you want. I highly recommend getting the trompo. It comes piled with lettuce, tomatoes, beans, crema, queso fresco and with a side of brothy rice soup. Another favorite is the entomatadas regias, which are corn tortillas bathed in tomato sauce and filled with queso fresco. They give you about 5 of them along with a side of rice and beans. Good luck eating them all, you will most definitely be taking some to go! This place gets packed at dinner time and especially on Sunday’s. Probably because it is excellent hang over food. Grab yourself a Mexican coke and prepare for recovery!

Pretty delish! I met a friend halfway for some breakfast/brunch and we ended up here. The place is located in a strip mall and is large and open, a real change from the smaller, trendier spots I’m used to in the city. It’s definitely authentic… we legit conversed with the waitress in Spanish, which I do appreciate once I can get past the embarrassment of having to showcase my mediocre Spanish-speaking skills. I ordered the chilaquiles which were nice and SPICY just the way I like them! It was a large portion of which I unfortunately consumed all, but no regrets. I will mention that when I asked if they do any of their dishes with egg whites, the waitress looked at me like I had two heads. I could be offended, or I could take it to mean this is the real deal, since traditional Mexican food wants nothing to do with egg whites! I’ll go with the latter. All in all a good meal! Not sure when I’ll be in this part of town again, but I would go back!

I noticed this restaurant is né night while eating across the street at Tinto Grill and bookmarked it to try it out. One night last week I got by there for dinner. After reviewing the menu and noticing no fajitas I ordered on of their large burritos. I don’t remember the name but it was on the top left page. The chips and salsa(2) arrived. I must say that I didn’t care for either salsas(2). They came in very small containers and neither tasted good to me. It may have just been my preferences and others would like them. The burrito arrived less than 10 minutes later and was large. The burrito had a good taste with the meat, cheese and onions inside. I did like it and rated it as a(3). The meal also came with charro beans which I rated as a(3) too. My waitress spoke little English but my service was good.(3). My meal was good and I would consider coming back and trying something else.

Tacos al pastor are surprisingly good. You will not regret it. Service is decent. Prices are cheap. Most dishes are under 8 dollars. Cleaningness is adecuate. Areas of inprovement: grilled onions were wet and juices damped the taco tortillas.

Very solid Monterrey-style Mexican joint — great, authentic food that is pretty cheap. Place is no-frills and high-volume, and given that the majority of the staff primarily speaks Spanish, you might need to have an idea of what you want(this ain’t «On the Border»). Everything is fresh and a bit spicy — like the chips and salsa, for starters. The signature dish is the tostada — which is gigantic and well apportioned with cheese and meat. I usually get the enchiladas nortenas, which are five smaller white cheese enchiladas in a spicy red sauce(not to be confused with chili-gravy Tex-mex slop). For those looking for tacos, I highly recommend the pirata plate — two delicious steak soft tacos with guacamole, cheese and onions. If you want to try a fairly authentic and hardcore Mexican breakfast, give the Barbacoa taquitos a try — but all their breakfasts are very good, including an excellent burrito for under $ 4. As someone who goes to Mexico quite often, I can assure you, this food is «authentic» and perhaps a bit of an acquired taste for people more used to Lupe’s — but it is excellent and the service is friendly(if hurried). The place is a bit loud and crowded, but always clean and a good experience.

Great Mexican food. This is a Monterrey, Mexico restaurant and their dishes are a little different than your typical taqueria. They don’t have fajitas or Tex Mex. I suggest the parata plate or their tortas. Only problem I have with this place is that they don’t speak English, so I suggest brushing up on your Spanish or bring your Spanish speaking buddy before coming here.

Always a great experience and wonderful«Monterey» style cuisine. Have been eating lunch here for years, the new(larger” location didn’t change the food or service at all. Great salsa styles and fresh chips. If your looking for a great«Monterey» style of Mexican cuisine, this is it.

Real authentic Mexican(regio) food. Everything taste very good. The tostada regia is very similar to tostadas in Monterrey. The only thing is the waitress never came back after taking your order, make sure to give them the complete order at once.

Very good experience here. The chips and salsa were good(they weren’t afraid to make the red salsa HOT!). The chicken mole was wonderful. Tex Mex is so prominent here that I have a hard time even finding mole so I was very happy to see it on the menu. The portion was perfect: not too little or too much. I will reiterate what’s been said before — many of the employees do not speak English but the menu is in English so you can just point. Very good food for the price!
