Uncle Bob’s Self Storage

Julia is amazing. She actually gets it. She truly wants to provide outstanding service and had done so repeatedly with excellence.
It is rare to find a manager in the service industry that follows a model which focuses on the «Human being»
I am a Property Manager in Self Storage and have been for over 10 years. I am a recent flood victim of the rains 8 to 10 weeks ago. The Storage Units I was renting were also flooded. My experience with Uncle Bob’s has been one long drawn out nightmare. Dirty hallways, poor pest control, miserable security.
After my ordeal with the flood I was hoping for a clean transition. Well I got the complete opposite. Well, Julia changed all that and gave a favorable response.
If you need a storage facility this one is the ideal place to go and rent. I still believe the company in general is a failure waiting to collapse. But, Julia is making a difference everyday.

Rented a storage unit from this location for 6 months. The storage facilities are clean and secure. Price was about $ 120 per month, seems expensive but that is what the other storage units are going for, so OK. They received one star from me based on the move-​out issues I had, and am still having.
Uncle Bob’s has a moving truck that you can rent from them, it costs the same as a similar size U-​Haul but because it is already at the storage unit it is much more convenient. I called one-​month before I was planning on moving out and reserved the moving truck. The girl who works in the front office has NEVER been friendly, but she took down my info anyway and confirmed that I had the truck reserved. Moving day arrives and I show up at my scheduled time to pick-​up the truck and the office is CLOSED. I call customer service and am transferred to 3 different people before I finally get a «Customer Service Specialist» on the line who tells me that the girl working in the office went home sick. Really? Shouldn’t someone have called me and told me not to come pick-​up the truck, instead of me showing up with my friends who are helping me move only to find that the office is locked up and no one is there?
Long story not-​so-​short my boyfriend finally got an Area Manager on the phone who promised to reimburse me one month’s storage fees (still haven’t received this reimbursement), and I had to track down a U-​Haul. I was unnecessarily inconvenienced because Uncle Bob’s didn’t have the sense to call me ahead of time and tell me that I should make other arrangements because their employee was going home sick and there was no one else who could take over the office in her absence.

The novice storage unit customer, only 1 month in, most of my experience coming from watching Storage Wars or Storage Hunters on TV. I’m super impressed with the value of Uncle Bob.
We did a price comparison over many many different companies, surprisingly there are a lot in between I10 and 59. We kept the range open to decide what’s better close to work or close to home. We went with close to work because the price difference was crazy. Everything we compared Uncle Bob’s to was $ 90 – 100 for the size we wanted. Uncle Bob got us in at $ 69, ya seriously. It’s still climate controlled too.
Sign up was easy. You can reserve a unit on their website. I cheated and used competitors websites that interactively shows you the right size unit you need for your crap. If you have homeowner’s or renter’s insurance you don’t need to add that on as an expense to the unit, what you have covers you already. Which is awesome. I bought a lock for $ 12 at the office and I was done.
They have separate codes for the walk-​in gate, the drive-​in gate and the elevator. Their hours are till 10 PM, but we learned our lesson that they lock it down earlier than that. We tried to slip in at 9:40 PM and it was a no go. There are several large dollies on site so you’re not carrying your stuff up and down the halls.
If you’re thinking about getting something here just know they fill up fast and stay full. I couldn’t find an open unit on our floor, we got the last one of our size.
Best thing is they can do automatic payments. So at least you don’t have to worry about your stuff ending up on an episode of Storage Wars Texas!
