Came back for another lunch. This time with 2 out of town friends. No one is there — just some old creep having a beer staring at us. Someone finally comes out to our table. Takes our drink order. Then tells us that the kitchen does not open until 4 now. What the fuck? Bye Deck, see you never now.

This place has a wonderful deck for when you’re wanting a laid-back bar on a nice, gorgeous day. Sometimes they’ll have musicians play which is great for those who enjoy something other than a juke box. The service is pretty good as well as their food. This is a good place to come to when wanting to watch sports or just chill with friends.

i forgot about this bar! we used to come here all the time when my friend lived in the neighborhood. we started coming here when woodrows got too crowded. but yeah, we love our patios. and this one has plenty. i dont think ive ever sat inside, maybe that one time bc it got a bit too chilly outside. i dont think ive ever seen this place packed, which i dont mind bc theres always a place to sit, & you get fast service. i would say ive seen more of an «older» crowd here– like older 30s — 40s, but theyre all fun to talk to. ive had many mini conversations with them when i would be at the bar or waiting for a friend. i dont know if one of the servers still works there, but i remember the 2nd or 3rd time i was there, he already had my drink(always get the frozen screwdriver) on the way before i even sat down. awesome. i think their happy hours are from 11 am — 9 pm… last time i checked. since its never packed, parking is never an issue, big plus for me.

Upside: The deck is huge. Downside: If you don’t sit right in front of the doors, you’ll be ignored … forever. I’ve been to Vito’s about three times over the past few years; each time was due to someone else’s suggestion. I dunno if I’d got out of my way to come here. As mentioned, service is always so slow. They seem to understaff their servers; and, if you’re not a regular like most of their clients, don’t expect much attention from the one or two ladies on the deck. Crawfish is good; think Big Woodrow’s with less celery salt(a plus), but they don’t season the corn or potatoes. Burgers were hearty but lacking seasoning. But the chips and queso? Delicioso. Fans of thin chips and even thinner queso – like the kind from Texedelphia – will like Vito’s. I had my hear set on the pizzas, since my crew of friends swore it was good. They described it as super thin and crispy and suggested I go with the Margherita. However, the oven was broken. Our waitress told us it’s been broken for months, and all her regulars really miss the pizzas, but the bossman doesn’t want to replace it because of the cost. Fair enough. I understand times are tough. But if it *were* fixed and I *did* like it, then perhaps I’d go back. Til then, probably not. Oh, but if you do go, give tip the super nice busboy, ahem, busman, Nicolas, who picks up a lot of the waitresses’ slack. He’s been bustin’ his tail at Vito’s and Sam’s Boat for more than 20 years. Such a nice señor. Other pluses: Free Wi-Fi All-day happy hour on Fridays

Vito’s has a huge deck/patio. The only one that rivals it in size may be Pearl Bar. They have a great wait staff that actually can take a drink order(unlike sams boat) and the food is great. Especially the pizza. It will be a while before I return to Sams Boat thanks to Vito’s. It’s just easier, the service is better, and the food is great.

Vito’s is right around the corner from Sam’s, and is a great relief from Sam’s Boat crowds and crappy, stupid service. I’ve had some pretty good times here over the past couple years, just lounging, yapping with friends, listening to good deck drinking music, having a few beers and/or shots. It’s a great place to meet before or after a concert or a night on the town to start or wrap things up. I’ve never tried the food, but the wait staff is quick, friendly, and a couple of them are kinda cute. I mention that they’re cute because despite this fact they STILL take and deliver drink orders efficiently and accurately. The exact opposite of Sam’s, where they seem to hire often based on a combination of cuteness, inexperience, bad attitude, and extreme laziness. Does it sound like I’m slamming Sam’s? Yep, I am… but this is about Vito’s, so I’ll just end by saying that if you like deck drinking in Houston, DRINKATVITO’S.

Good music and a good set up. With a big deck and plenty of seating this is a bar that I can feel at home at. The drink prices seem okay and the food looked decent. We spent a few hours here last night from the tail end of an Aggie Happy Hour until the place went dead about midnight. When the weather is nice I suggest that you take advantage of the deck.

Size does matter. And Vito’s deck is huge! I mean Vito’s deck can certainly take care of business. Whatever you’re in the mood for that night, Vito’s deck can handle it. This deck is accommodating, long and, did I mention, huge! :) Ok, back to the review… a group of us headed here after a nice sweaty game of sand volleyball(see next review) last week. Don’t ya just love a place where no one cares that you’re in shorts, flip flops, covered in sand and sweat. Well, this place is that place! We picked a table on the nice, long, smooth, wet, uh what was I talking about, oh yeah, the deck. The waitress came over immediately and got our drink orders. The drinks came quickly but constantly.(Sometimes repetition is a good thing) and those drinks were soon followed by a couple of large, piping hot pizzas. The Margherita was delicious, and the meat-fest, artery-clogging other one seemed to fill some bellies too. All in all, a great place to hang on a weeknight and not feel rushed or pressured. Will definitely be back this Thursday night too! So, see size does matter!!! Don’t let her tell you any different. Cause if she does, she’s a-lying to ya!
