When I worked on Wall Street, my friends and I would make trips to China town at least twice a month. The food that we enjoyed there was memorable. A group of four or five of us would chow down a ton of food each visit. I can still remember it now.
I moved to New Jersey and one of the things that I missed was my Chinatown food. One night we found a menu attached to our front door. The restaurant was called China Moon and since they took the time to get a menu to us, we decided to give it a try. It’s worth mentioning that we had tried a number of places before discovering China Moon, and I had resigned myself to the fact that we would have to eat sub par Chinese food from here on in.
Well what a surprise this place turned out to be. The food was hot and delicious, and more importantly it was fresh. 15 minutes elapsed from the time I called in my order to the time I picked it up.
I like enjoying my Chinese food family-​style, so we order quite a bit of food each time we call. There is not a single dish on the menu that I would not recommend. Every single item, right down to the eggrolls and the Rangoon’s are perfectly prepared. This food is as good as any I have ever enjoyed in Chinatown in New York City. It was my home away from home when I came to Chinese food.
If you have read any of my other reviews, you know that I am a serious chow hound, who can really put away the food. I have yet to finish everything that we bought.
My personal favorites are the General Tso’s Chicken, the boneless rib tips, the Mei Fun, egg rolls and the Egg Foo Young.
So to summarize, great food, plentiful portions, friendly service and reasonable pricing. Give them a call and tell them that Jimmy sent you. You won’t be sorry.

Moo goo gai Pan had little chicken in it tonight, egg rolls greasy, no flavor and, no offer of condiments… realized when we retuned home, won ton soup unremarkable.
Probably will not return, too many reasons to try something new.
Very sorry, this was our go to place.
I hope owner reads this and straightens this out for himself before too late.
Giving 3 stars just to give it some chance to recover.
Saturday night food should be on point–

Used to get their food all the time when I lived in Jackson, NJ, which is near Howell. haven’t found any Chinese food in NJ that comes close. Their spare ribs, & beef chow fun is a must. This is take out, though they have a handful of tables.

I have bought many dinners from China Moon. I find the meal selection and quality of food to be outstanding. I especially like their recipe for hot and sour soup. The people are friendly and I recommend going there anytime.

My favorite Chinese food in the area. Staff is always courteous and friendly. I highly recommend the egg foo young, shrimp fried rice and moo goo gai pan. They do not deliver but they are worth the drive.

Food was OK. We ate inside and there were gnats flying around the table. My son’s friend ordered house special lo mein and liked it a lot. I got moo shu veg and it was OK but not great. My son got crispy shrimp and it looked nothing at all like the picture but he thought it was decent but I thought it needed some help. Next time we are in the area, I’ll keep looking…

This is the first place we ate when we moved to NJ. We met Linda who is «China Moon». Fabulous wonderful warm amazing woman who instantly made us feel welcome to the neighborhood. In fact when we told her we just moved in, she introduced us to the other regular customers that came in for their to-​go orders, while we were waiting for our order. A school bus driver, someone from city hall, a mail carrier, hair dresser, police officer, pharmacist, 2 people from the gym, I mean WHAT a welcome. I Know right?!
Here is my review of a gem of a restaurant that I hold in high regard not just for customer service, food presentation, flavor and quality but for a love and pride in what they provide their community and I thank them for such devotion.
Our orders vary depending if we are feeding a large group, the two of us or the family (4).
Here is variety so far– Broc beef, orange chicken, beef chow fun, seafood delight, lemon chicken, general Tso’s, moo shu, string beans, BBQ pork, triple crown, beef with bean curd and the usual variety of noodle dishes and rices.
Portions– we always have leftovers no matter what, and the food tastes even better the next day.
Seafood dishes– super fresh and tasty not over salty or seasoned.
Beef dishes– perfect bite size, sauces are not over powering no hard grisly or fat pieces
Chicken– tender again, very tasty, no fat pieces or unwanted fillers you get good portions
Noodles I love noodles and these are super fresh and not overly sticky enough sauce to round out the ratio of noodle to sauce and if it has meat or veggies a perfect combo.
We have really come to enjoy the crab Rangoon appetizers so those are ordered every time.
It’s not even noon and my review for China Moon has worked me into a serious food craving LOL
Ordering take out is easy and it is always ready when you get there, they package your order in these no spill plastic almost tupperware like to-​go containers which keep the food super hot and spill proof. If you order there and wait, to me it doesn’t seem to take very long at all and dining in be prepared and understand you WILL be taking to-​go boxes you can’t possibly eat it all in one sitting, of course if you have hungry teens with hollow legs then, no you won’t be taking any home and you will need to order more for yourself.

Great Chinese take out!
They had a handful of good Vegan options including the sesame tofu, and the bean curd schizuan style. I got both of them last time I ordered and they both were delicious!!!
The food was done quickly as well. Ordered it, and headed right out to get it, and was done by the time I got there like 15 minutes later!
Only down side is no delivery, but worth the trip!

I’m a big fan of this Chinese-​American style restaurant. I was once told that what I need to look for in good food made in this style is subtle flavors that come at you as you eat your food. Now that applies with most good food, but as I’ve found out over the years that is especially true with Chinese food. A place that just slathers on some thick sauce in a wok and fries up the food usually ends up being less than stellar.
China Moon gets it right in that whatever they do as they cook the food the flavors are delicate and the texture of the food never mushy or overcooked. A lot of vegetables made in this style usually suffer from being over-​sauced and mushy — not here. The food tastes fresh and crisp.

food is always consistant. Linda is the BEST!!! wish they delivered. I have never had a bad meal from China Moon and they NEVER forget anything!

The best Chinese take-​out in the area, and Linda (the face of China Moon) is the greatest… The menu is more than adequate to suit any taste, and they are always willing to make whatever changes you might want. We order from China Moon at least four or five times a month. They don’t deliver, but the food is worth the trip! We won’t order from anywhere else…
