Only because I can’t give this place zero stars. We called before making the twenty minute drive about a specific item. Said they had it and off we went. Turns out that item isn’t here. This is pretty irritating, but didn’t earn the zero stars. The last straw was being sent around the store with«in that general area» directions. No one would walk us to the section that item was supposed to be in. The aisles and sections were poorly labeled and scattered. Totally unprofessional and poorly trained staff.

Maybe it’s just me but I feel this Gander Mountain is way understocked on merchandize. They had a flyer come out with great deals on women’s outdoor clothing but when I went there they didn’t have any of it. I was told it was online but the flyer said what I wanted was in store. Oh well… In the previous post it was mentioned they do price matching, but not for everything as I found out. I spied a wonderful pair of hiking pants on sale for $ 49. Fleece lined and a total bargain if you ask me! They were on a rack with many others in the same brand and color. The rack even had a sign stating the pants I had picked out were definitely on sale for a great price. But when I checked out it turns out they were not even close to being on sale. Even though the sign was there stating they were indeed on sale the manager wouldn’t honor the sale price. I was told«Oh I’m sorry that sign was to be taken down over a week ago.» I like my old Gander Mountain in Erie, PA. They have more merchandize and I’ve never had a problem with them honoring sale prices.

Gander Mountain is a large Sportsman’s store absolutely brimming with anything an outdoor enthusiast could dream of. From fishing to fire arms, «North Face» apparel for the whole family, and even quality children’s puppets, this store has a little bit of something for everyone. I’ll say right up front, the trick to getting the best prices here is to check their online prices first from your phone, as they do not follow the chain’s set prices, but will honor them if you request an adjustment. For instance, if a smoker they carry is being sold for $ 500 and you find it on their website on your phone for $ 449 they’ll change the price for you, for your transaction! That’s awesome. Particular noteworthy is their outdoor cooking supply section, where customers can get their cast iron fix on, while dreaming of the many beautiful campfire memories the many different shapes and sizes could enhance. They have so many sizes of cast iron and neat cast iron devices on poles for direct campfire cooking(waffle on a pole, anyone?) it blows my mind. They have a massive selection of gourmet smoke woodchips for cooking as well. It’s outdoor foodie paradise! When we venture out to Gander Mountain, it entails making a long drive for us. Luckily, this store has so much to see, it can easily eat up 2 hours of our time making the drive worthwhile. They have fantastic apparel sales ongoing constantly on high quality brands of clothing, so each trip is always really exciting as I wonder what little goodie I will find next! Last winter, I snagged up an extra long North Face down parka that normally sells for over 300 – 400 for $ 100. Awesome! My Husband really likes their firearm section, which spans the entire length of the store. It’s huge! They carry a ton of ammo, self defense supplies, weather preparedness electronics, survival and hunting stuff and more. If you love anything outdoors, anything at all, you’ll enjoy a trip to Gander Mountain. Just be sure you check the online prices before buying anything remotely expensive. Enjoy!

Gander mountain has a lot of guns, bows, hunting goods, and even Bear Gryll’s knives! They also have gun storage equipment for around $ 100-$ 500(storage bins). They’re not good for long term storage, however. Slightly expensive, but the only hunting goods store I can find around Dayton.

For the hunting and fishing enthusiasts out there, Gander Mountain is a handy shopping stop. I enjoy a visit here because they carry Woolrich and Columbia brands for women and have a decent shoe selection; no heels, though :)
