The boy and I were in the area for a school assignment. When our research was done we were hungry for something tasty, quick and informal. Baba Louies was the place. It was nice to see it so busy on a Sunday night — couples, families, singles at the bar — they were all there, but it wasn’t packed and we were seated right away. The ordering didn’t take very long either… probably because we didn’t give it that much thought. Usually we go for something that’s balanced and varied but somehow, that didn’t even come up. Our appetizer was the Nachos Supreme — nachos smothered with tomatoes, beans, jalapenos, onions and cheese. It was delicious. The cheese was fresh mozzarella, not the liquid cheese that covers everything offensively on other nacho platters. And it was all layered together so the bottom nachos had just as much smothering as the top ones. I was surprised that we finished it all because we were just two people and it was pretty big. The boy got pasta(another dish of carbs and cheese with veggies) and I ordered pizza(a third dish of carbs and cheese with veggies). The pasta was tasty and the pizza was really good, except… Well, it was pizza with feta, arugula, fresh tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, roasted garlic and balsamic viniagrette. As much as I really like all those things, I’m much happier when my salad is a salad and my pizza is a pizza. I enjoyed it as much as I could have enjoyed it given that it was salad on my pizza. I left a little pile of arugula on my plate and ate the pizza without it. I’ll know for next time that I should trust my intuition about greens on pizza. Still, it was a good dining experience and we’ll keep it on our list for our next visit to Hudson. So why 4 stars instead of 5? Well, the service wasn’t as prompt as I would have liked. Though the restaurant was busy, it wasn’t packed and we did wait a few minutes to have water brought and then to order and then to get our food. It felt like it could have been a bit more polished. But like I said, the food was good and the rest of our family might enjoy coming here next time.

The Melanzana Cardinale pizza was the best pizza I have ever tasted! Fresh mozzarella, eggplant, tomatoes, smoked gouda and pesto, garnished with parmesan and red pepper flakes — all flavours balanced beautifully and prepared to perfection. Service was friendly — I had take out so waited at the bar 10 – 15 mins while my pizza was being drawn down from heaven. Will definitely be returning.

About once a year we forget how awful the service is here. If you enjoy being treated like crap, enjoy!

Very down to earth. Great cider on tap and excellent sour dough crust pizza. Lots of gluten free options for celiac sufferers and neurotics. Very nice salads. Extremely fair prices in a town where $ 30 entrees are the rule. Super friendly and comfortable.

Very good soup and salad. Their pizza is not that great but better than many other places in Hudson.

Called in a couple pizzas, and salads for a business meeting. Service on the phone and in the restaurant was friendly and professional. The go bag came with plenty of plates and place settings. The food was a huge hit with our group. I noticed especially that the salads were a generous portion.

We were here for dinner on a Friday night. The place was busy. We had to wait about 5 – 10 minutes to be seated. The staff here are all very friendly & polite. We didn’t order the salad but we saw other people ordered it & it’s humongous! We got the vegetarian pizza & the half portion of pasta. The portion is definitely generous. The half portion of pasta is definitely good enough for one, even if you are hungry. The vegetarian pizza has goat cheese on it. Everything that we ordered was just delicious! The prices here were very reasonable. Highly recommended!

I’ve always enjoyed this great place, even before it opened in Hudson(the original is in Great Barrington). Go for the wood-fired pizza. My favorite is prosciutto-fig-arugula.

This place used to be good. We had a $ 14 dollar family salad that was a $ 4.99 mixed green salad from Price Chopper. We ordered it because we wanted wings from the appetizer menu that had 5 things on it. We were told the wings were not available. Drinks were never refilled. It was hotter then heck in there. Not good avoid.

The pizza hits the spot. The perfect, reliable, elevated, neighborhood pizza joint. Everything tastes fresh and the vibe is casual and authentic.

A simple margarita pie with prosciutto and extra cheese always hits the spot. Salads are large enough to share. This place is busy whenever I’m here, a true sign of quality food.

This has always been a favorite place for my girlfriend and I to go. I am super picky about my salads and the quality. You will NOT be disappointed, and the size is so big, plenty for left overs. Pizza is also amazing. Awesome vibe and great servers.

You can’t go wrong with the Baba Louie’s Classic Cheese Pizza! Might just be the fresh ingredients but their sauce is fantastic.

Sorry, pizza was not up to par. Despite what looked like a fancy wood-burning oven. Crust was a combination of soggy inside and overcooked on the outside. Toppings were kind of a mess, too much on each one, and a lot of sauce on top for some reason. Greek salad was decent and a great value(small is enough for 3 – 4 people as appetizer), but oh soo salty. Wanted to like it and place filled to capacity by 6:30, maybe it was an off night(sun night), but any decent nyc pizza place it is very far from. Other than that, service was attentive, was good with a kid, ambiance is nice, and prices are fair.

The individual salads are enormous and delightful, the pizza was delicious and crispy. And they offer San Pellegrino, of which I’m an addict lately. But the devil is in the details — they bring a cold plate for your salad, a warm plate for your pizza. Such a great touch. I love when someone knows I want something before I do! still lovin on Baba’s!

We’ve been to their Great Barrington and Pittsfield, MA locations and stopped by for a late lunch while in Hudson this weekend. As has been our experience with them before, the service was good, the salad was very good(large size and plenty of fresh toppings) and the pizza was, while perhaps a bit too moist as we’ve also experience before, covered with lots of good quality toppings. We also enjoyed a couple of the half dozen beers they have on tap.

I have been all over the U.S. Looking for great gluten free pizza. I have found it !! Baba Louie’s has long been our favorite. They added GF a while ago –but now they have their own HOMEMADEGF pizza. It is fabulous. Chef Paul has hit a home run. My pizza was just as fabulous as my husbands. I’ll load the pic to show.

So Came here with three other girlfriends and I would def go back. Don’t order their family style salad, it’s not good. But they have pretty good wine at cheap prices and their gluten free pizza is REALLY good. I live in the city and have not tasted GF pizza this good. Highly Recommend

Great pizza pie. Their pepperoni pie was solid. No frills. No gimmicks, just good-tasting, filling pie. The downside to this joint is they don’t serve pizza by the slice. Not a problem unless you dine with someone who CANNOT eat gluten. If you are a trooper, as I was, then you are stuck eating some near-revolting, bland-tasting, deep-dish style pie that totally underwhelms. I can’t blame the restaurant for how that tasted, as I believe gluten-free dough to be EVIL. Later, I ate the real deal and was blown away by how well it tasted. Gluten-free eaters must be really committed to their diet or simply can never know what they are missing.
