They treated us real nice one and kept the store open way past their closing time for us to pick up some grocery items. Serious selection, especially on the cheeses, good people.

Came in to grab some meat for my roommate while visiting folks upstate. Decent gourmet alternative on Hudson’s main drag. A little pricey but there are some good buys if you are looking for meats and cheeses. Worth checking out if you are walking by.

Dena helped me plan appetizers for my daughter’s rehearsal dinner(80 people). I spoke with her a few times before we came to town and finalized when I arrived. She made 3 gorgeous(and delicious) cheese platters, a vegetable plate & I bought a few other assorted yummies. She helped me plan the correct quantity and variety. Her choices were spot on and I LOVED the cheeses… best quality! She was a delight to work with and the store is filled with top notch treats. All the wedding guests I sent to the store raved about it.

Quality cheeses and meats — a good spot to shop for a picnic or day hike. Helpful counter people made good recommendations. This is not where you shop for bargains.

I went to Stewarts the other day but they were out of beef jerky so I entered into this place instead. They did have beef jerky in stock but it was much too expensive for mid-size bags.

I love Dena. She loves her customers. She loves food. It’s not cheap but I wouldn’t expect it to be. Everything in the store is hand picked carefully by Dena. It’s fresh and it’s great quality. She’s thrilled to take a special order or create something special for a gift item. I like knowing that I don’t have to shlep fine food from the city because anything I need Olde Hudson will have.

The first time I went to this shop, in 2010, I purchased not a thing, as the two saleswomen behind the counter were far too busy chatting with someone they obviously knew and ignored me for well over 10 minutes. I wanted to purchase some cheese, but finally got frustrated by their behavior and left. I went back a few weeks later and saw something I really liked, Krinos Taramonsalata. As no prices are listed(I guess if you have to ask, you shouldn’t be in this shop?), I had to get the attention of the man behind the counter and then ask for the price. He was very put out and grudgingly gave me a price: $ 12 for an 8 oz. can. As I can purchase this in the city or on line for approximately $ 3.49/8oz. I of course didn’t buy it. When I asked for cheese prices, the man told me he’d be «right back» and never returned. And neither did I.

My husband and I went to Hudson for day and happened on this store. We love the atmosphere and thought it was a nice local shop. The cheese was delicious so we ordered a quarter pound of three different kinds, ranging from $ 24.99/lb to $ 28.99/lb. When we arrived home we had 1⁄16th of a pound of one, 1⁄3rd of a pound of another and 3/8ths of a pound of the last. We were disappointed in the service especially considering we could have bought the same cheeses elsewhere for half the price. We just wanted to support a local business.

WHOA??? $$$!! $ 5.50/lb for pastured chicken — same as NYC… GREENMARKET!!! $ 26.99 for Cabot’s Clothbound — Murray’s in NYC — $ 24.49! Compared to some of the most expensive food ever, Olde Hudson takes the cake! Being in the heart of New York state farming country and paying Hudson rents(instead of prime NYC rents), you’d hope to not get gouged worse than NYC!

I have had great cheese here. And they are great people to meet to boot!
