We had a table of 4 Saturday night. Nice place . The service was great but the food was barely edible. I’ve never been to a restaurant where all 4 guests hated their food. Linguine with clam sauce was bland ‚ The parchment rapped fish tasted fishy. The fettuccine with salmon was tasteless. The Caesar salad tasted like lettuce with lemon. The cheese plate app & wine were perfect and the homemade biscotti were to die for. They just need a new chef.

Bearing in mind this review is for bar service, not food before reading more. We popped in on a Sunday early evening for a drink. It took 15 minutes to be served at the bar, and when we were, the service was brusque and kind of rude. I asked if they had any cider, the woman serving me said no, without any apology or alternative suggestion, then stared at me and down at the menu. This after seeing a note to ask about drink specials… We had a drink apiece and then waited another 10 mins before anyone came to ask if we wanted anything else — so we took the chequer and left. A warmer welcome would have had us stay for dinner, but such a frosty start did not make us feel at all welcome. The wine itself was fine, husband enjoyed his beer. Shame atmosphere and service didn’t match.

Food was excellent, service was attentive. The lemon martini is out of this world! Looking forward to visiting again.

Great place! Definitely check out their garden seating, if you make a reservation ask for a table on the deck. The food is delicious, service attentive and friendly. Highly recommend both the salmon and the Tuscan chicken. I have been coming to Hudson for years and this is one of my new favorites.

Ate early eve on Monday and were the only people there. This place has the warmest service we had during our trip, and they took care of our allergies with aplomb. Definitely 5 stars for that. Also the best french fries I’ve ever had — cooked with fresh herbs, and served with fried herb leaves. My chicken was slightly dry, but my companion’s salmon was perfect. We’ll definitely be back when we return to Hudson. Also had a very nice glass of a Chilean sauvignon blanc.

I often visit restaurants in Hudson and am always looking for a new spot. I decided to try Vico after reading favorable reviews with four stars attached to its name. However, I was incredibly disappointed with a mediocre preparation/taste and meager portion of their food. First, I don’t remember having such a bad calamari appetizer; heavily breaded frozen calamari reminded me of italian food served twenty years ago in NYC restaurants. When my main course arrived, I could not believe it: it was only a half branzino cooked with two bites of green beens and minuscule traces of unrecognizable vegetables. This unremarkable entrée cost me $ 28. Even my glass of wine was only half full. I ended my dinner hungry, disappointed and quite upset, wondering how is this place still in business. I would give it a grade«C” or one star only. Lili

Hadn’t been to Vico in a number of years and wanted to give it another try so we’d have other restaurants to go to in Hudson besides Swoon, Ca’Mea and DaBa. While the service was good and the price was reasonable, the food was unremarkable. The chicken special had 2 of the smallest thighs I had ever seen on a plate. It’s a good thing we were sharing the eggplant parm which, while mediocre at best, was at least filling. Many better option available.

This was our second time at vico and our go to restaurant in hudson. Service is excellent, people are friendly. Ambience is small and lovely. Food is always tasty and different. You always want to come back for more! My boyfriend was talking about the pork chops for almost a month until we went back again. I had the fruitti di mare which was excellent. The seafood was fresh and the smell of the dish was out of this world!

I will certainly return. Food, service, experience, all very nice. There were some small things not worth mentioning here, because I pointed them out, & the server fixed promptly. No problems. *I watched a couple with an «entitled» attitude at the bar totally WASTE the managers time, when he was busy, demanding happy hour prices at 1 minute before end, then shared the 1 drink for 1 hour. Shared 1 small app, asked for lots of free bread, free extra butter, free olive oil, free grated cheese, and made sandwiches with it. Lots of water with free lemons. Took up all the staffs time, even the chef, and then left a sh! tty tip complaining about not having better olive oil(there was nothing wrong with the olive oil.). Cheap a-holes! We ate here on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014. This place was wonderful. I had the Pasta allo Sceriffo, which was a wide pasta cooked in a red sauce with small pieces of sweet Italian sausage. The pasta was sensational, one of the best I’ve ever had. The sauce and sausage were delicious. The friend I was with all had the Salmone e Fagiolli. This was thick cut of salmon over beans. Wow! This was great as well. I had a delicious Hendrick’s gin martini, although they didn’t have cucumber so I had it with olives. I was really surprised at the tasty quality of the martini. For dessert we had some delicious sorbet, I had fig and ginger. This place is a hidden gem. Highly recommended. Looks like it has a great bar. The restaurant was really nice, quiet and colorful.

Very colorful but relaxing ambience. Comfortable tables nicely spaced between 2 cozy dining areas. One of my pet peeves is when the server does not remove all of the dishes before bringing dessert and coffee. Not a problem at Vico’s. Our server was thorough, attentive, friendly but not invasive. There were 4 of us and we all enjoyed everything from salad through entre to dessert. Portions were quite ample. Everything was served hot and we’ll prepared. The dessert offerings included some delicious standards like cream brûlée as well as unusual items like a rich combination of pistachio, chocolate mousse, fluffy cheesecake and chocolate ganache. Subtle, not too sweat, very creamy. Even the coffee was excellent.

Have eaten at Vico numerous times when visiting Hudson and using my parents Below3rd card. Always guarantees a good meal and I am particularly partial to their lunch menu where I would almost always order the tuna steak burger with wasabi mayo. However, I have so enjoyed many dinners there as well. Service is always friendly and efficient. During the warmer months they have a really nice little patio on the back with some lovely trimmed trees and flowers. While reservations are helpful I don’t believe I have ever had to wait for a table and it is also the closest restaurant to the train station which is also nice and is a very short walk to the Hudson waterfront and Promenade Hill,

Authentic Northern Italian in a very elegant yet inviting setting. I went for a family dinner on Friday night, it was delicious. The service was awesome, and warm, and the food, every thing from the apps to the final desert, it was great. For the apps, which were kindly on the house, it was a compilation of all of their most popular ones, and it was great. I actually had the pâté, and I not being a pâté guy, it was delightful. For dinner I had a porkchop special, and I thought it was out of this world. Soft, tender, tasty, yeah it sounds like a good date but it was actually a pork chop. I put that in there for my brother. Anyway, I suggests if you’re looking for a nice occasion out type dining expirience with good food, this is your place. Its the best Italian restaurant between Albany and and southern Dutchess county, in fact, it may be the best one in the Captial Area, I’ll have to have a second field study to determine that.

Extremely tasty, can’t complain about the service. My only concern is, why were we the only people here on a Friday night in summer?

What a fantastic discovery! We were delighted to find Vico open when we walked past! I had been hoping to go to dinner here, as I wanted to dine at a ‘real’ Italian restaurant, and we were not disappointed. Gorgeous fresh ‘real’ Italian crostini– delicious and so tasty. The pasta’s we had were divine and equally fresh and tasty. To finish off we had the most blissful creamy Puff Pastry with fresh fruit and a Orange crème brule that we would find hard to beat in any Italian restaurant. We certainly feel very lucky to have experienced this gorgeous Italian ‘taverna’ in the middle of the Hudson. We only wished we had found this gem earlier in our stay … We probably would’ve been nightly customers! :) :)

Pretty typical Italian joint that you might find anywhere in the tri-state. Not bad, not spectacular. Good service and very liberal with the amount of wine in one glass. As with many restaurants in Hudson, the inside of the place is great and very inviting.

This is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. I’ve been back many times and never had a bad meal or bad service. The stuffed Pork Chops over mashed potatoes were the best Pork chops I’ve ever had. The vegetable torte appetizer is amazing with the freshest seasonal vegetables. The atmosphere is very charming and comfortable, you don’t feel crowded, there’s also a great outdoor space in back in the summer. The desserts are also great, I love the orange flavored Crème Brulée.

A solid 3-star place. The atmosphere is great. The wine is good. The service is good. BUT the food— it’s just not that impressive. Come here for pre-dinner drinks and then move it up a couple blocks to Ca’ Mea for your meal!

Five stars for the service! Our waitress was friendly and wonderful. The restaurant was tiny and wonderfully decorated. We had the main room all to ourselves late on a Sunday evening. We had a bottle of wine which was tasty. We ordered the vegetable tart for an appetizer followed by the pasta el telephono(spelling?) it was big fresh wider then fettuccine strands of pasta with a tomato and mozzarella sauce which was simple but delicious. The BF got a special of rosemary meatballs with rotini. His dish came out wrong but whatever that was it was delicious. They promptly made the right food and gave us a free glass of wine for the wait. We had no where else to be so we shared my food and then shared his once it came out. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful. It wasn’t the most amazing Italian ever but it was done well.

This week’s point/counterpoint is brought to you by me. The Wife and I got away to Hudson, NY for a short weekend, and I chose Vico based on some reviews here and elsewhere. We were disappointed and betrayed. Vico, we came to learn the morning after, is the *last* place our hosts would recommend to us. The place was largely empty, no one at the bar and covers only 20% full. I got a peek at the POS terminal and noticed they were pumping a Pandora playlist into the space, which wasn’t bad but could’ve used a bit more hard bop. Apparently someone keyed in «jazz minus good stuff». We took a corner spot to people-watch, but there weren’t enough people to watch. The wine list was so-so, and we settled on a Chilean white that didn’t offend. I had to pour all of the refills myself throughout the meal, so service here is hit-or-miss. The water glasses were never less than ¾ full though. They should expand that kid’s role to filling the wine glasses. The bread was bad, almost as if it were frozen then reheated. Literally, a saucer of oil with no spices was placed on the table. Apparently the salt and pepper shakers were expected to provide my palate with interesting taste sensations. I laugh at Vico. The appetizer came out quickly, but ho-hum, another fried calamari. The eggplant bruschetta was the wrong order; shame on me for not noticing the eggplant right away, so we’ll call that one fault on both sides. The entrees were good but not great. The linguini calamari fra diavolo wasn’t diavolo enough and a bit wet. At least the calamari seemed fresh and cooked properly. The Wife’s salmon fettuccine was tasty, but not good enough to save. Coffee, dessert? No thanks, check please. Lick is down the street, we’re heading there… and skip Vico when in Hudson. Try Swoon instead, we heard great things about, the day after…
