The food is great but its so small there is always a lineof customers and a wait, I guess that just speaks to how good the food is

Gave it 3 tries. Won’t give it anymore. Problems: First, if you’re alone, you have to sit at the counter with really uncomfortable chairs because they are ‘saving the tables for bigger parties’ which conveys to me my limited value to them. A short sighted business approach at best. You can never tell who your most financially supportive customers are based on group size. Second, the food is just okay. The wait time isn’t the issue. It’s the hardness of the toast, the average eggs, the nothing special home fries which makes it just edible. Third, the entire time I’m sitting at the counter, I get an up close and personal blow by blow of the hostess/owner trashing customers and staff. Her comments are rude. And, the snarl on her face can kill an appetite faster than flies. Forth, when you arrive you’re stuck waiting at the door while the staff pretends to not notice you. They’ll even talk about you standing there. Charming. So, today when I got there at 1:17pm I waited and waited while one waitress pointed at me and the owner rolled her eyes. She finally came over and said she was closed. Brilliant strategy there. Great business sense, closing to customers at 1:17 when the shop closes at 2pm. Here’s a free hint, turn off the open sign and put up the closed sign when you stop seating at 1:17 for 2 pm closing. Interesting, I drove up the street to the Saltwater Diner which also closes at 2pm. They seated and fed me and I was out by 1:55pm. Oh, they seated 4 other tables after me. Don’t eat at TOAST unless you want to feel unwelcome while trying to choke down food you can make yourself.

This is our new favorite weekend breakfast place! The food is worth the wait. Definitely get the Burnt Toast — a decadent French toast with crystallized sugar and crunchy maple glaze. Doesn’t even need syrup. A large portion so share it with a friend :)

Owner was extremely rude, waitstaff acted like we were an inconvenience, there was smoke coming from the kitchen, the food was greasy, there is 1 bathroom so there was a line, AND she has up signs to shut your phones off. Not a good experience at all.

Best breakfast on the south shore. It is a small location, and busy on the weekends so be prepared to wait.

The food was good, but the waitress was on her cell phone and rude. Other people got their food before us so we were just checking on our order and she replied«that’s just how it is here» with hulleva lot of attitude. Funny too because they have signs up all over the restaurant saying no cell phone zone. Won’t be back.

Although the food was excellent I will never eat here again based on the incredibly rude interaction with the owner and a server which left such a negative lasting impression on me. My friend and I arrived around 1:15 pm on a Saturday(closes at 2). There were about 5 open tables… total of about 10 tables and an eat at bar area in the restaurant. The owner told us to sit at a «small table» but did not seat us. I turned to my friend and asked if she wanted to sit at one of the 4 person«booths». The owner overhead this and stated«this is not a small table». Ok… we didn’t realize this is what I was thinking. We then asked if ok if we sit at bar(5 empty seats). She said yes then proceeded to tell us the last seating for lunch is 1:25. Unsure why she said this I checked the time(1:15) and said to my friend«do we have time?». The then young, curt server makes a sharp comment about this. The negative remarks, comments and observations of this server and the owner talking about guests was so disturbing that if I hadn’t had ordered food I would have left. It should be noted that a party of two came in shortly after us and was seated at the booth we wanted to sit in… as well as the fact there were other patrons being sat at 1:40 even though for no reason at 1:15 we were so sharply informed last seating was at 1:25. Avoid this place… not worth having to deal with negativity.

I’m surprised by all of the over-the-top complaints about the service and owner. Okay, she seemed kind of surly, but she was polite to everyone who was there and was friendly with the locals. Regardless, she was manning the bar. The lady who served us was very sweet and prompt. The food was great! I had the white omelet with hash browns and multigrain toast. The omelet was huge and yummy. The hash browns were greasy, but very good(I don’t mind greasy hash browns). Overall a great experience. They were very busy and I can see why. We got our food in about 10 minutes, regardless. The only thing they need to do is get a bigger restaurant!

Just moved to Hull and have gone to Toast a few times already for breakfast. It is small, funky, friendly and the food is great. I’m an egg guy rather than a pancake guy, but the very reasonably priced«Wave» offers a small serving of silver dollar pancakes along with eggs, meat choices, hash browns and toast. Perfect. The hash browns should have been cooked a bit longer and a little too greasy, but still very good.

I love Toast, the eggs benedict are amazing. If you want something sweet get the burnt toast, perfection(no syrup necessary). Coffee was great and I never saw the bottom of my cup. I also get the lunch specials and take them home for dinner. I love the American Chop Suey — just like mom used to make. Everything is cooked to order so sometimes a bit of a wait but for perfection, worth every minute. As you can tell I’m a big Toast fan. I think I’ll head down now, feeling like a few scrambled, toast with jam, piping hot coffee and maybe just one pancake on the side.

Okay brunch. Good portion size but quality was just meh. I stopped by with a friend early on a Saturday morning for brunch, and I ordered the pumpkin pancakes as my meal, along with iced coffee. The pumpkin pancakes were enormous, but unfortunately it was kind of dry and not particularly flavorful. It was pretty busy, so maybe I ordered the wrong dish, but I only ate about one pancake before the dryness became a bit much. It’s not terribly expensive, but the service and venue aren’t anything to write home about. It would work for brunch for smaller groups, but I didn’t find the food good enough worth coming back for.

We won’t ever go here again. We went on Sunday at 9am and waited almost 30 minutes for a table. The hostess was not pleasant, I don’t think I saw one person in there smile. We waited 10 minutes for anyone to greet us once seated. She never brought us water. We were with our one year old, she never acknowledged. Never asked how are you or said have a good day. She never asked how our food was. After all that I can deal with a wait for breakfast on Sunday morning and with slow service, but the food wasn’t even worth the wait. I ordered a burrito no substitutions, literally a cold wheat wrap(didn’t ask what kind of what I wanted) with too many eggs and diced ham. that’s it, on the entire plate. Never again.

Love the food, great atmosphere, but the owner is super rude. Was there for breakfast today, have been there many times and it’s always busy which is to be expected. Was sitting at the counter and had already put in our order with the owner. She was standing behind the counter, eating, having a conversation with her friend, also a patron. We’d been waiting 25 – 30 minutes after putting in our order when she brought her friend their breakfast. My father politely asked when our breakfast might be out and her response was a curt«it’s coming out, it’s only been 15 minutes». She brought our food a few minutes later and just set it there without a word and went back to her conversation with her friend. When we left a few other employees wished us a good day and thanked us for coming but she just continued on her personal conversation. As I previously stated, the food is fabulous and the atmosphere is great, the majority of the staff is very friendly but the owner should take a tip on customer service from her staff. I might also mention I’ve heard from several other people that they’ve also had less than pleasant interactions with the owner as well.

They should change their name to slow roast. It took us 40 minutes to get omelets from the time ordered, and this was on a weekday. We were sitting at the counter and were able to observe the cooks doing one order at a time. No multi-tasking here. Meanwhile the owner was standing at the computer doing Facebook every chance she got. The omelets were pretty good when we finally got them, but we won’t be back.

Wonderfully eclectic décor with local flavor: beach sheik meets throwback Thursday at a Flea market. Casual atmosphere and full of patrons the Saturday morning we stopped in. I had the special Brioche French Toast with egg white and it was simply amazing. We also tried the Omelette special, bacon mushroom and Swiss. The omelette was generously sized and did not disappoint! The kitchen is small which leads the longer wait times. The food and atmosphere are worth a look. The wait can be tough on young ones, and parties over 5 will want to split up or go to a larger venue. Come here for good food and a casual, vibrant atmosphere, I know we’ll be back! :)

Owned by 2 of the best people you’d ever meet and serving some amazing food with their own spin. Open for breakfast and lunch, stop in and go for the special if the day. You won’t be disappointed!

We have been here multiple times because it is close and the food is decent. We stopped going in to eat because the the old lady hostess(possibly the owner?) was very rude. for us middle aged folk she acts very uncaring, and to the younger crowd she is nasty(Talking down to them, telling them to hurry up, etc…). Anyway, we have been calling in togo orders every no and again when we don’t feel like cooking on weekends. Today i called and was told very rudely that they are too busy to take togo orders anymore. We will be taking our business to Hingham from now on.

For me, any good restaurant should have three things: great food, great service, and a great environment. It was honestly difficult for me to consider the food and environment because of the owner. I went there with my girlfriend for a quick bite before hitting the beach, and from the time we asked for a table to the time we left, all I could focus on was the owner/manager. She never smiled once, was short and unfriendly with all customers, and generally made the entire experience poor. Some real examples? When we asked for a table for two her response was«20 minutes, wait outside and I’ll come get you.» And while it was only about 5 minutes, our indication that our table was ready was a knock at the window behind us. Given there was a group seated there, she either reached over the table to knock or had the customer knock for her. Terrible. While inside we were seated next to the bar, at one point the lady walked by with menus that bumped into my girlfriend’s arm. She looked back to see what she hit but never offered any form of apology. It wasn’t a big deal but at least say sorry. A table of 5 was being seated near us in a booth that normally seats 4. She walked to the table and grabbed a chair on the way. After slamming the chair down at the end(which blocked both sides of the tight booth from being entered) she walked away without saying a word, letting the group see themselves into the booth. The food wasn’t bad, my girlfriend got an egg sandwich that looked and tasted delicious. I got scrambled eggs with shredded hash browns and sausage. The hash browns were a little greesy but tasted great, the eggs and sausage were just ok. The layout inside was a mishmash of knick-knacks and clutter with no real theme that just made it feel boring and crowded. All in all, I won’t eat here again.
