Now changed, it’s now Mainely Sandwiches! We went for Mainely’s grand opening today and were so pleased with everything! The lobster is fresh, the bread is soft and the lobster bisque is creamy and delicious! The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, and we saw many families there enjoying their meals.

I live in Kingwood and Goings was a pleasant surprise when I saw them open. I consider myself a bit of a foodie, particularly when it comes to BBQ. I visted this place for the first time the other day hoping for the best. As is my custom, when offerred the chance, I order a sampler plate to taste a variety of any restaurants’ menu at one sitting so I will have a better idea what to focus on next time. Lucky for me Goings had a 4-meat dinner. It was reasonably priced at around $ 14. So my order consisted of brisket, pork ribs, chicken and sausage. My sides were pinto beans and potato salad. My initial thought was OMG this was cooked in an oven and not over a pit! Whether that’s true or not doesn’t matter, the fact that none of the food had a good smokey flavor was disappointing. The brisket was failry tender if not extremely flavorful. However, it went downhill from that. The ribs, chicken and sausage was extremely tasteless and forgetable. The meal reminded me of something I might get at Luby’s or Golden Corral. It was cooked, reasonably tender but simply didn’t remind me of BBQ. The same can be said for the pinto beans. They were watery and lacked basic seasoning. The mustard based potato salad and sauce was ok but not enough to save the meal. Needless to say, I will not be back. Nice peope, but yuck.

Similar to other reviews, the price was higher than it was worth and the food wasn’t that good. Also similar to other reviews, the BBQ sauce was actually pretty good but there wasn’t much of it on my ribs and it was definitely needed for my wife’s slightly dry brisket. We ate there for lunch and pretty much were the only people there, not sure how they will stay in business. The 2-person staff wasn’t rude, but definitely didn’t try hard to impress us, their only customers at the time. Overall, slightly disappointed and won’t be returning since there are better options for barbecue.

Not good, the food was cold tasteless and over priced. The place was empty for good reasons. We will not be going back.

Enjoyed it! Steak was good, and wife’s steak sandwich was tasty. Kiddos had turkey and they ate everything. Will be back.

So sad as I was excited to have a new Barbecue joint closer to home. Well, it’s worth driving a little bit more for a lot more flavor. Although the appearance was nice I should’ve taken the hint that on a Friday night after 6p there was barely anyone there. Not very sociable service either not even a greeting or anything. Ordered, got our food, sat, ate & left. no one ever checked on us, asked how it was or anything. Good thing the sauce was decent cause I had to drown my food in it to get even a little bit down. The chicken was so dry I couldn’t swallow it. The gravy tasted so much like flour that it wasn’t edible not to mention the rotten oil tasting CFS. Nothing was even warm other than the french fries. On a good note our child liked the mac-n-cheese and the sweet tea was just right. I wished it was better as they have a good location and people in the area who crave good barbecue. Good luck, I hope this was just a bad night but I can’t say I’d be willing to spend money on a second chance.

Dreadful. That’s the feeling I had when my wife said«my baked potato with its shinning foil still on is cold». I hoped this place would rock, no BBQ close to kingwood proper. Meat was dry, sauce was too sweet, and it was such a disappointment.

Smells good but the quality and flavor are not there. The smoked turkey was dry and looked like it may have come out of a plastic bag rather than the smoker. I did not see a smoke ring. The primary flavor for me was salt. The BBQ sauce had no flavor at all. I was stunned by that. The hub’s CFS was good, but the yellow tinged gravy on top had little flavor and definitely looked like it came out of a bag. The side salad evidenced minimal effort in its construction, given the huge hunks of iceberg lettuce and haphazard assembly. Lastly, they have a decent condiment bar which helped add flavor to the lackluster food. Do yourself a favor and go to one of the other BBQ places in the area.

Was hopeful that this would be a good BBQ place. Should’ve trusted my instincts once we got there. — banner sign on window is for a Friday after 4pm special, buy 1 steak get 1 free(a restaurant shouldn’t need to advertise like that for a Friday night) — pretty empty at 6:30pm(I guess that’s why they have the sign) — not very friendly, welcoming or helpful staff We ordered brisket sandwich, turkey sandwich, fried chicken sandwich, side of mac-n-cheese, fries and potato wedges with cheese. All fried food came out after we were done eating the rest of our food, even my son’s chicken sandwich. He just watched us eat. I had to ask staff where was rest of food, because everyone else that ordered after us got their fried food before us. The staff seemed confused and try to explain they were swamped(remember place was empty)? Very small portions, very overpriced(especially for small portions). Brisket and turkey were good, BBQ sauce ok(but they hardly gave us any). Fries & potato wedges were good. Fried chicken sandwich ok. After all that waiting for half of our food, we were asked if we wanted to get dessert from the staff walking around, strange. Restaurant was clean, but dated. Very bummed that this place didn’t turn out better.

I am only grading this based on the brisket I ate. The brisket was over cooked and under flavored. The meat was freshly slides when I ordered however it the piece it was slides from seemed to have been sitting. The meat itself was crumbly and dry. Even the cuts off the point we’re over rendered and literally falling apart. It did have a nice looking bark, but with little flavor only leaving me in disappointed with the cuts. I can only assume they are using an electronic smoker since they are in a strip center. The sauce on the other hand was quite nice. Good subtle tomato flavor with a little sweet and spicy. Actually one of the better sauces I have tried. Unfortunately it was necessary to have the sauce accompany the dry brisket to choke it down. The sides looked nice although I did not try them. On brisket alone I will not be coming back.

We really enjoyed the potato salad and corn. The meat was decent, not bad at all. I really thought the service was good too. It is nice to have a good BBQ place so close to home.

Was very hopeful for a local joint that you could get a good steak. This isn’t going to be the place. I’ve been twice now and it was the exact same experience both times. The décor has not changed much since it was a diner prior(same booths… even the same stickers in the booths) The salads ahead of the meal on both occasions are pre-made and they hand them to you out of the refrigerator near the counter. Considering there was nobody in the restaurant either time, a fresh salad would not have been too hard to do. The salads were frozen with ice still on them and the bowls filled with water as the ice melted as we ate them. The rib eyes are very thin, and the fresh factor just isn’t there. Even asking for a medium rare the steaks are dry and overcooked. I’ll give props to the baked potato on my first visit which was huge and very good with all the fixings, however on the 2nd visit, the potato was way over cooked and not good at all. The quality of the food just isn’t there for the prices that they are charging, the service is horrible(think high school kids who received no training and this is their first job ever). This is now the 3rd different restaurant in this location and unless they vastly improve the service and quality of the food, they are probably destined to end up like the Chinese and the diner before them.

We ate at Goings BBQ for the first time this past Friday. We ordered take out, although the inside is attractive Texas style décor. My husband ordered a BBQ Plate, and I ordered the BBQ Potato. The BBQ is excellent, as well as their sauce. The only drawback for us as far as eating in there, is that they don’t serve wine(or at least that I am aware of). So if this is the case, we’ll be doing take out mostly. I did not ask if we could possibly bring our own wine in, so if you are going and want wine or beer, you might clarify all of this with them. Their prices are very reasonable. They had a banner outside of their restaurant advertising Buy a Steak, and get a 2nd Steak at ½ price(after 4pm on Fridays). I think this restaurant will do really well here, where it is located. Great BBQ at a reasonable price… you can’t go wrong. Next time we order there, we’ll find out more about the wine and beer situation! They also cater! They have only been open up here about 2 weeks, but they look like they are part of the other Goings BBQ restaurants(3 other location in the Greater Houston Area).
