More lights but sometimes better than taking the highway. Definitely more scenic and some great places to eat on the way

I love this little stretch of road. It starts at «Black Cat Ridge» and runs north up to its intersection with US59(soon to be I-69, dude) At its head is Pop’s Ice House, a fine establishment for those who love motorcycles or those who love those who ride them. It then splits the hair between US59 and the railroad track. It passes Fine Line Tattoo, Lowes, Nico’s bar, Loop 494 Animal Hospital, Amedeo’s Italian, a florist, a hair cutter, the fine establishment of Bill’s and that Kingwood entrepreneurial success story, Insperity. That’s all before you get to Kingwood Drive! Beyond that are people’s apartments, a movie theatre, Pete’s Burger Place, and Kingwood A/C. Then you get into Porter and there are pawn shops, churches, and road houses. Then, down the road, the businesses end and you get a picturesque old cemetery and the country. I like driving down this little road because it gets me to work and it gets me up north to 59 and postpones the rat race that is the freeway, for just a little while longer. If you’re up in this neck of the woods, come on down. Black Cat Ridge is only spoken of by the old timers, but it’s still there. Come get a beer at Bill’s and poke around a while. The area is older than you might think and you may capture a little flavor of the old times while you look around.
