This shop is in the very corner. The office is a bit small but there is a lot of space in the auto shop in the back. Wayne is the best with car cosmetics! Very nice guy and knowledgeable. Wayne always washes and waxes my car before returning it to me. Highly recommended!

Finding a trust worthy auto body shop is like searching for the perfect diamond engagement ring for your significant other. Luckily, my trusty Unilocal app came in handy for this job!
Was travelling back to CA for a quick work trip and was about a few miles away from my parent’s house in Glendale where a dump truck was merging onto the 210. Just my luck as it was full with debris and with my impeccable timing a huge rock came flying off and landed right onto my windshield. FAWK!!! Not only did it crack the windshield but whatever gravel/​rocks/​etc that was in the back of the dump truck managed to spray the entire front end and crack my headlights.
Not wanting to risk driving back to TX with a crack windshield, the research opportunity arose and found stellar reviews at A1 and reached out to Wayne for advice. Scheduled an appointment later that week and had Wayne take a look for an estimate and made a claim via insurance.
Week later, car was done and everything was perfect! Paint looked better than it did when we first picked up the car!!! New windshield in place and the headlights looked fantastic. Couldn’t have been happier with the work and with the painless effort required on my part. If I only lived in CA, I would bring all my cars to A1 to have them work on the paint. Now I’m dreading the drive back to TX and in dealing with all the debris on the 10.

Came back from HI to find out that someone had hit my Dad’s car on the street
. Of course it was also a hit-and-run…damn mofo’s!
Called up Wayne and asked when I could bring the car by to have him inspect and schedule a time to drop off. Luckily for me, he was able to make room for the car that next week and was relieved to find out that it was just cosmetic damage.
The car was done within a week and as usual everything came out perfect. For those that don’t know how hard it is to match pearl white when repainting a car, I strongly suggest you think twice before purchasing it. Wayne of course was able to nearly match the original paint
and couldn’t have been happier with their work.
For those that are looking for amazing autobody work and are within 100 miles, I highly recommend A1 for all your repairs and car modifications.

Wayne is awesome. He recently fixed my wife’s car for us and he treated us like family. He had it repaired super fast and did a really wonderful job with the repairs. Our insurance company had preferred vendors that they suggested but we decided to go with A1 Auto Body Shop instead– because of a strong recommendation from our family. First of all, Wayne is a great guy. Really knows his stuff. His assistants/​other employees are great too. Don’t listen to the other reviewer that said their quality slipped. It hasn’t.
Now that, that is out of the way. I’ve gone to him once before to paint parts (VCSL trunk/​m3 mirrors) for my car. The paint work was flawless on those items.
But this time, I went in to get a few more things done. A lot of it was custom work so my time frame is not going to be representative of his normal work/​duties. Here’s a list of things I had done (My car is an 06 330ci for reference):
— Repaint/​Install E46 M3 fenders: It isn’t PnP for my car. He has to cut the corner section so that my headlights would work with it. Welded up the opening for the side grills, and added my sidemarkers.
— Repaint my VCSL VRS hood: It has chips from rocks so he had to repair it a little.
— Repaint front bumper: At the same time I had him delete my reflectors and mold my CS splitters. Then he had to figure out how to make it work with the wider M3 fenders.
— Install CF roof: They have done a lot of these, so I didn’t have any worries.
Since most of the work I was having done was custom, It took a lot longer than we both expected. More than a month. But it was fine with me to be honest. I do a lot of custom lighting work, I know stuff like that has problems to overcome and it takes time.
During the entire process, he would call occasionally to update and verify things with you. If anything changes cost wise, he would let you know and wait until you give him confirmation on what to do. Very communicative, which is a great quality for a shop.
When it was ready, the car was washed and ready for me to pick up. You can go ahead and look over the car. If there was anything you didn’t like, just point it out and tell him and he’ll fix it for you right then and there. I just had a minor issue with the hood alignment. It was fixed right on the spot. From my experience with other shops, at this point they would try to convince you that you’re seeing things just to get you out lol
The paint looked absolutely flawless. Super smooth. They use PPG paint/​clear coat which is one of the best in the industry. Since I repainted the entire front end, he had to blend the doors. I couldn’t tell the difference between the new and older paint at all. Everything looked like it was always on the car and it just came off the showroom. Great work.
For my CF roof, it turned out even better. They managed to take off the windshields without breaking it (which they warned me that it might happened before I gave them the go ahead). The correct seals were installed when the windshields were put back.
Overall, I’m very happy with all the work that they have done for me thus far. I would definitely recommend them to all my friends (I already have twice). And I’m looking forward to going back to do the second half of my car once I have more money.

Been going here for years and have always experienced the best service and quality. I’ve been here to get repairs due to accidents and also for aftermarket work. The quality of paint is impeccable.

I was recently involved in a Friday night 5 North sandwich. Traffic slowed and the car behind me slammed into my rear, which caused me to bump the car in front of me. The trauma of an accident doesn’t always leave you much mental capacity to do proper due diligence of finding a place to fix your car, and I was fortunate enough to get a recommendation from a friend who I know is way more OCD than me. He recommended Wayne at A1 with little hesitation. Don’t be fooled by the 80’s era front office and lack of glitz, these guys know their stuff and will take good care of you. You’ll get personalized service lacking from the big commercial collision centers.
Wayne walked me through my adjuster claim and discussed all the aspects of the repair, and went to bat for me when he thought OEM or new parts should be used (instead of non-​original parts or repairing items like bumper covers). The whole process was completely painless and he had everything repaired like new, fast and in the time promised.
I can’t recommend Wayne and A1 enough. He’s a car guy too, so if you’re particular about your ride, don’t hesitate to give him a call if the need arises.

A1 Autobody is as good as it gets. Don’t look at its outside or waiting area. The proof is in the work that Wayne, Doug, Abraham, and crew do. I’ve been coming here since 2000 and have referred all my friends. Reason I come back is simple, A1 does the best paint and body work I’ve seen. When I was in LA, I lived 45 mins away but would come here to do my body work and repairs. Now that I live 300+ miles away, I still find reasons to come back when I need things fixed. One example I can share with you is when wayne gives you an opinion, he knows what he’s talking about and based on experience tell you things to be aware of even if you never thought of it. Saved me time and money. They primarily do paint and bodywork but since they routinely do showcars as well, you’ll see the occasion exotics there being prepped for SEMA, CES, Bimmerfest. They also do brand name aftermarket body kit installs, suspension and brake upgrades/​mods. He’s a jack of all trades, which is why I keep coming back.

I have now used A1 Auto Body on three occasions. The first two times was for minor body work/​touch up stuff on my wife’s car. Wayne had come highly recommended and his work was perfect. The third, most recent, occasion was when someone smacked into the right rear of our car and I knew already that Wayne was the only one I wanted working on the car. He went above and beyond the call of duty by personally supervising the towing and transporting of the car to his shop. He also helped us get a good deal on tire replacement and wheel refurbishment. The car looked great and drove perfectly.

I take pride in my vehicle — a 2003 VW Jetta. A few months back, my car was backed into and cracked the paint on the rear bumper. I have previously taken my car to Wet Works Garage in Newport, and have constantly been on the search for a quality bodyshop that is not at the cost of a whole new car.
Body shops, let alone any automotive repair, is a very hard business to feel you have a quality relationship with. Especially in Southern California, I feel like automotive shops will just do whatever it takes to get you out as quickly as possible. I have been to shops and told them I would like them to replace said part at my expense and they have refused saying that I don’t need it. When did customer service get this bad?
This brings me to A1. I heard about them through a friend, and actually one of the gentlemen who works there comes into my work alot. We got to talking one day at work and he told me to bring the car in to check it out.
I needed the rear bumper slightly repaired (so i thought) and repainted. I came in the visit to talk about paint codes and matching, and Doug set down some of the colors he had on file that were «my color.» I was impressed with his knowledge of color matching and his ability to determine the flake contents and paint additives required to make the paint work.
Later that week, I dropped my car off. I dropped the car off Tuesday morning, and recieved it back Friday morning. The car had been detailed, and while I am usually hesitant about my car being washed, I was pleasantly surprised by how swirl free and glossy the car was. After inspecting the rear bumper, I was extremely happy with the proper flake in the paint, as well as the correct hue. I talked to Doug, and he told me that they actually ended up painting the lower valance (spoiler) as well just to make sure it matched to their satisfaction. They also pointed out several other things about the car that i didnt know — how they actually had to repair the bumper and not just repaint it — while keeping the price the same none the less. The paint looks great — on par with the best I have seen.
Overall, I am extremely happy with the service and I am actually kind of taken aback that it went so well. Wayne, the owner, is a very soft spoken kind guy, and the rest of the crew are all pretty friendly. I felt like I was welcome and I wasn’t wasting their time — which goes pretty far in my book.
If only more business’ cared about their end product /​customer like this — the average customer could actually trust business’s again.
