Charo Chicken

After having been contacted by the owner I feel I need to change my review from 1 star to 5 stars. I have always loved the food at Charo Chicken but was disappointed that they wouldn’t deliver to me. I have since been contacted by them and was assured they would be delivering to our area from now on! I am absolutely amazed at the kindness and consideration of the owner of Charo Chicken. He showed me how much he really cares about his customers and his business by responding immediately to my initial review. This is a perfect example of how a business should be run. Kudos to you Moe!

I ordered delivery and it took about 45mins… I had a delicious shrimp fajitas quesadilla that was filled with veggies and shrimps and very cheesy. My friend ordered a chicken bowl. This place is very similar to El Pollo Loco but I like it better.

Small hole on the wall located on the corner of Edinger and Edwards. This place is very small, with limited seating and a random mirror wall. Delivery is an option, just call in advance.
I called and asked if they had Corn on the Cob, Mexican Style. The employee answered yes, so we took a trip to this joint. To our surprise it was little corn and not the entire corn on the cob with mayo, cheese and butter. It was fine, so we ordered some Charo Fries, chips with Guacamole and a quesadilla. The Charo Fries were surprisingly delicious. They have a special seasoning that made them taste just right. The quesadilla was large but nothing special. I really enjoyed their little salsa and lemon section. It was small but it was a plus to have 2 to 3 salsas to choose from.
We didn’t get a chance to order more items on the menu. The other items look really good, so I have to come back and try more stuff. Based on what we ordered, the food was okay. I will be back and hopefully give them additional stars with other items on the menu.

Their chicken nachos are huge! Definitely enough for 2 or 3 people to share! I like how the pico de gallo and guacamole come on the side in a container to keep the nachos fresh and less soggy! Great deal for $ 10!

Ordered chicken over 1 and half hours ago and had to call twice. Finally just cancelled my order. FAIL on the delivery. Love the chicken but if u can’t get it delivered what is the point.

Been going here for 10+ years. As of late the service here is a joke, really horrible service. I call ahead for my order as I like a certain mix of chicken Ariya (SP) told us it would be an hour and a half for the order, I literally LOL. Whoever is managing this location is being overpaid because they really do not know anything about managing. El Pollo loco always has the chicken we want ready and much cheaper. Not unheard of for us to drop $ 40-​$ 50 two nights a week. The Food is good, the service and management is rock bottom crap. You ask them for sauces or a bag of chips its like your asking them to dig a ditch or something. I have seen the owner in there several times, one time he will hear a piece of my mind. There is one older cook back there that is always very nice, he is a valuable employee!

I love charo chicken! Major complaint though .it takes over an hour and a half to get our food delivered??? So now we have cold food for dinner at almost 9pm. Still have not received our food. Super disappointed. I ordered online and even tipped. If I knew it would take this long I wouldn’t have tipped at all. Cmon charo chicken get your sh*t together and hire more drivers.
Revised review: after calling to complain about our food being so late, the manager called me back to offer their apologies and said she was going to send us some gift cards in the mail for the inconvenience. Thank you. It’s customer service like that that makes me want to come back for more. So hopefully they follow through.
UPDATE!** They did send me some gift cards in the mail along with a very nice letter from the manager. I am definitely going back. Great customer service. Above and beyond.

I have ordered here before and it was good but now it’s nasty the chicken is dry the sides aren’t good the rice was hard I wouldn’t buy any more chicken from here I rather have kfc or Popeyes save your money people place is over priced…

This place is getting too expensive with smaller portions, and the shredded chicken sucks that comes on the chicken bowl, it tasted old, eeew!

Underrated fast food Mexican. Great family deals, delivery, and delicious! The chicken has great flavor, good portions, and choices of sides.

Shrimp tacos are on point. I’m not a fan of shrimp, but after have a bite of my hubby shrimp tacos, I have to go order my own plate. They have varieties of salsas that you can help yourself along with the chips. Thay also do delivery just in case you got lazy. Staffs was friendly. Got to come back soon.

Great chicken at an affordable price.
Salads, bowls, burritos, and plates are all great tasting.
Clean and quick service.
Salsa bar is fine.
Moe’s potato is enough for two meals.
Everything is always fresh.

Charo Chicken was pretty tasty. Had the Spicy Chicken Bowl which wasn’t too spicy but the portion size was strong (or as my German friends would say «Über»). Food was really filling and great. Not sure if all Charo Chicken Locations are like this, but this one had a help-​yourself-​to-​all-​the-​corn-​tortilla-​chips-​you-​want and so I did. Had I known I would’ve ordered water and went to town on the free chips, but then again it would’ve ruined it for everyone else.
Service was relatively fast even during the lunch hour rush.

Not quite but Passable.
Lemon pepper chicken was okay, I had some of it and it taste quite good. The playing is just a little messy so maybe they could improve that and make it more unique with style.
Clean, neat and very smart crew. Coming here is just a good thing.

This is our go to place whenever we are in Huntington. We’ve been coming here for the past 8 years and we never get tired of it. We always get the family deal and do half flour and half corn tortillas. We also double up on the rice bc there’s nothing really special about the beans. We also like how they have free chips and salsa to munch on while you’re waiting. The chips today were a little stale so this wasn’t one of our best experiences. They have indoor and outdoor seating and it’s usually never crowded when we go. However, don’t let that fool you. The chicken here is always so fresh and tender. Our food was piping hot when we got it and I had to wait a few minutes before I could touch the chicken.

My wife has picked up dinner here a few times now and I’m definitely a fan. Similar menu as el pollo loco with chicken by the piece, tacos, bowls, salads, and burritos. Their chicken is good sized, juicy, and loaded with flavor. There’s a choice of different seasoning rubs. For sides I’ve had the rice & beans which were both good. During my last visit I tried their «spicy bowl» which comes with a choice of protein. I went with shredded chicken. It came with rice, beans, onion, cilantro, tortilla strips, pico de gallo, and some sort of «spicy» sauce that give it a nice kick. I topped it off with salsa & jalapeños. The bowl was really big and very filling. Restaurant has a self serve chips & salsa bar. My wife had their chicken guacamole torta and it too was very large. The nachos are pretty lame. They bury it under watery pinto beans for some reason causing the entire thing to become a mushy mess. Don’t recommend it.
Overall, great alternative to El Pollo Loco.

6÷6÷15: Thanks to some convincing by Moe, we decided to give this place a second chance. The mood as I walked in is very mellow (a nice change since the last visit). I am greeted by the cashier who is friendly and takes my order. Going to try the fajita plate and an Apple Cranberry Walnut salad with some chips, salsa and guacamole.
Will update later about the food.

I don’t understand why anyone would give charo anything less then a 5. Best chicken in oc. Sides are fresh, salsa and chip bar always full. And they absolute most delicious lemon garlic chicken. I normally get a half chicken with two sides. Completely full and im a big eater.

So good and so cheap
I came here to pick up some food for lunch with the girlfriend. I decide on the chicken tacos. The two tacos they gave me were humongous. Each taco almost looked like a burrito. For tacos, you get the option of shrimp, fish, beef or chicken. I went with the chicken and it was very garlicky and flavorful. The only complaint was the cold cheese that was stuck together. Other than that, I was very please. I was only able to eat one taco since it was so filling.
With a regular size drink, my total was around $ 9 for the tacos. They also give you some free chips that were also good. Their salsa bar had plenty of salsa options and were all really good sauces. My food came out fast and the guy that rung me up was nice and patient. The inside of this place is causal. It’s a good place to come for lunch. Other items on the menu included bowls, salads, and chicken pieces. My girlfriend went for the chicken quesdilla, which was also a large portion and stuffed with all types of goodies. I cannot wait to come back.

Bird Bird Bird, Bird is the word!!! This is definitely my go-​to spot for chicken. It’s pretty similar to El Pollo Loco, but better!
Why?
(1) Side dishes. They taste better & they come in pretty big portions. (I LOVE their garlic mashed potatoes). They also provide free chips right next to the salsa bar (Just remember to use the scooper people… c’mon!!)
(2) Flavor: The garlic/​lemon flavor on the chicken itself is what brings me back. It is so good from the first bite to the last!
(3) They Deliver & take phone orders! I just give them my phone number and it tells the cashier what my «usual» order is!

Better than El Pollo Loco. Think El pollo when going in but expect better. Don’t expect to pay as much as El pollo loco. Because it’s actually more expensive than El Pollo loco. I recommend the charo burrito because of its got a little bit of everything they offer their wrapped in a tortilla.
