FOODPOISONING. FOODPOISONING. FOODPOISONING. My sister and I had the Pancho Villa(tortilla rolled with some kind of beef and sauce) and a standard turkey sandwich on a roll. The quality of both sandwiches has plummeted since we used to visit(approximately 8 – 10 years ago). Within a few hours, we were both violently ill and barely able to get up off of the floor. We went to the emergency room at 4am the next morning, having not slept at all, and spent five hours being rehydrated. Just now getting off the Gatorade and cracker diet. Never, ever going back. I’d rather eat my own shoe.

This is my favorite deli in the area! I found it by accident when the restaurant I had planned on going to had a very long wait and I had a very hungry toddler on my hands. The menu is pretty large, and frankly produced a little analysis paralysis. I just picked the first thing that stood out to me, but it was fantastic: the Rolls Royce. My little girl liked it too! I have been back several times and I have enjoyed everything I have tried.

This place is just not worth the price. I paid $ 11.00 for a 12 inch pastrami sub, that consisted of a small handful of cold pastrami, and a couple of slices of cheese. The Subway across the street is better. I will say the customer service is nice, but an all bread, no meat sandwich is disappointing.

How do you review a place you’ve been coming for 40 years and not sound too sentimental or cliched? I’ll try to just lay out the facts. There is an amazing variety of sandwich choices, most from the menu of celebrity-named sandwiches categorized by their primary meat(I refuse to use the foodie term«protein») ingredient, such as turkey, ham, pastrami, corned beef, tuna, etc. Anywhere else the celebrity sandwich names would come across as silly, but because the actual sandwich ingredients are fresh, tasty and nicely prepared, you just order what you like a enjoy a great sandwich. There are plenty of booths and tables to comfortably sit as a single, couple, family or group. You’ve got moms with kids, blue collar workers on lunch break, local businesspeople… everybody. But the place is no dive… by no means… it’s nicely maintained, the employees are friendly and the sandwiches prepared promptly. There is a good selection of chips, bottled and canned drinks, beer and fountain drinks. There’s also an amazing consistency to the place… if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. When most of my 1960’s and 1970’s HB favorites are long gone, Fritzankotter’s remains. It’s no mere aging icon of the past, rather a place that is just as good and fits in 2015 just as easily as it did in 1975.

Overpriced for a simple sandwich. Being that there’s numerous deli’s and sandwich shops nearby this place there’s too much competition out there for me to want to go back to this place. The service is fast, but still not worth $ 10 for a sandwich you’d make at home.

Today was the first time I stepped foot inside Fritzankotter’s since the Mid-90’s. Based on the rating, I was a bit worried it wouldn’t be as good. Thankfully, it was just as good as I remembered. I got the Eydie Gorme(all of their sandwiches are named after famous people), which is the egg salad on rye, and it was fantastic. Next time I’m in the neighborhood, I’ll be back.

Great selection of sandwiches with clever names. Nice location and plenty of seating my favorite sandwich is the Robert Redford I only have one problem is a couple of the older workers are always grumpy. I mean every time you see a customer you cash register rings. Most of the time the ones making your sandwich are always kind and friendly just when you go to pay the older ladies working the register could and should be polite and smile.

I love how creative they are with the names of the sandwiches. It’s kind of like a history lesson while you order. You’ll find yourself looking up names on Google while you wait.

The wife loves their bathsiba sandwich. I had a roast beef and would not have one again. The roast beef is not fresh and was VERY salty. Sad considering they are across the street from one of the best meat markets in OC. The cost of 2 sandwiches, drink and small watery soup was $ 16.00. Will go to subway next time.

Absolutely terrible. Try to put as little meat as possible and still get away with calling it a sandwich. Also their bread was stale and tasteless. To cap it off, the avocado spread on top was more brown than green. Bottom line: subway is better than this shit, and that’s saying something.

I have been going to this place ever since I was in highschool. The same people seem to always work and they are always so kind. Amazingly enough I have never strayed from the Bath Sheba sandwich!(Turkey, ham, avocado, sprouts, tomato and cream cheese all on pita bread) it’s so good I’m scared to order anything else. I have had the potato salad(not the German, the regular) as well and it blows any other kind right out of the water. So delicious. Definitely recommend for anyone who loves a great sandwich with awesome customer service.

So this is my better half’s favorite lunch time haunt. I have been here a few times and its certainly a good lil spot. I had the Mickey and Maude today and was surely impressed. The bread is fresh as well as all the meats. The service is quick and friendly. This is not a commercial spot so don’t expect a subway type menu. If you’re looking for a genuine sandwich with a good feel to the spot, give it a whirl.

I had just finished conducting a black bag operation in the area(two streets west of Slater) and need a bite to eat. I saw Fritzandkotters Deli and decided it was a sensible place to eat lunch(vs. a liquid-fueled meal at Harvey’s nearby). Overall, I found Fritzandkotters to make a decent sandwich. Like other Unilocalers, I noticed there was some«Meat Rationing» going on, however, the bun on my sandwich was fresh baked(and crunchy) and the sandwich was tasty enough to please my unsophisticated palate.

Super yummy and inexpensive sandwiches made at lightening speed! All the sandwiches have names(Mickey Mouse, Paul Newman, Sophia Loren). It reminds me of a sandwich shop I went to as a kid called Stottlemeyer’s. Anyhow, try this place. The staff is super friendly too.

Incredibly nice people here! They know their deli meats and their sandwiches are incredible. Whatever sandwich you get ask for it on Hawaiian. It’s so fantastic. Head over and try it ASAP.
