Great food, slow service. Nice mom n pop type place but don’t eat here if you’re in a hurry.

The service was soooooo slow the day we came. The menu said my omelet was a 3 egg omelet but I think it was way smaller than when I order omelets else where. I got the Bacon and spinach omelet and they were kind of light handed with the ingredients. Loco M. got the El Bandito Benedict and the spicy Hollandaise was novel, eggs poached well. The fruit cup has old pieces of watermelon that I picked out. We also got a Chai Latte and you could still see dry mix floating on top. Would probably not come again.

I didn’t have a terrible experience and I didn’t use a groupon like everybody else but I appreciate this small homey vibe that this little breakfast place had. I ordered a french toast combo and it came with 6 half-slices, 2 eggs and 4 pieces of thick crunchy bacon. Their coffee is decent too. There’s nothing much to write home about– it’s hard to do bad for breakfast food and the service was fine, but then again we were the only ones there. The waitress was very friendly and my coffee cup was always full, so was our water. Although the service was fine, you can kind of tell that if it were busier we might have been in trouble since it took a little longer to get us our check but even though we all had separate orders and paid separately she did it for us without any complaints. I personally didn’t have a problem with the food or wait this time but if I’m ever in the area again and am craving some breakfast I might stop by here again.

Small mom-and-pop shop with a very homey vibe. The waitresses are friendly, but service is slow(hence 3 stars). It seems like they don’t have any order as to how to keep track of their tables. There are seatings both on the inside and out. The menu seems very appetizing, and I wanted to order everything. I was able to try their BBQ Bacon Burger w/Chips and Manhattan Tuna Melt w/Fresh Fruits. BBQ Burger — very savory bbq sauce and patty. The patty was very unique, not your typical burger patty. The chip and wasabi mayo sauce that came with it made the plate a 4-star! Manhattan Tuna Melt — a very healthy and pleasing choice. @ first I was skeptical of the sprouts; but I decided to leave the sandwich as is. Thank goodness I did bc the sprouts gave the sandwich a nice kick. The albacore was fresh, not your typical Chicken of the Sea stuff. This one deserves 3.5−4 stars. They gave us free slices of red velvet cake as they gave us our bill. The cake was very moist, but had no cream cheese. Unlimited refills on the coffee!

I honestly don’t understand the sudden string of bad press for this place. We were seated immediately when we got there. Our waitress was very attentive; she came by every so often to ask us how we were doing and to top off our drinks. We did, however, have to wait a grueling 10 — 15 mins before our food came out. RIDICULOUS, RIGHT? The audacity of the kitchen to actually cook our meal to order. Really, people, really? If you want to get your food within 5 mins of ordering, I suggest you go to the nearest fast food joint. Anyway, back to the food. Our waitress brought out freshly-brewed, strong black coffee(just the way I like it) within seconds after seating us. My Greek Omelette was all right. It was a bit bland for my taste, but the sprinkled Feta on top gave the dish a nice salty kick. Ask for Tabasco. My order came with a side of fresh fruits and toast. My cousin got the Hawaiian Hula French Toast topped off with fresh fruits and lightly dusted with powdered sugar. The stack of six slices of bread halves were sprinkled with coconut shavings, which gave them a nice crunch, and had just the right amount of sweetness. The fruits tricked us into thinking we ate healthy. HARDY, HARR, HARR. Good Day Café is on the other side of town for me, so I wouldn’t make the drive just for brunch. I would come here again, though. I mean, it’s not one of the best places I’ve ever eaten, but it’s also not one of the worst.

Came here due to a Groupon coupon. My cousin got an Omelette dish(that had ham, green peppers, American cheddar/mozarella cheese melted on top — forgot what it was called), hash browns, and whole wheat toast. I decided to get just a simple two eggs over-easy, hash browns, and whole wheat toast. We both got hazelnut coffee. I tried a bit of my cousin’s omelette dish. The ingredients were very fresh and the ham was not too salty, the green peppers had the perfect amount of crunch(not too crunchy that it was raw, but not too mushy where it would be overcooked), although, I wished the cheese were a little bit more melted. The hash browns were sliced into little pieces, but they were still good with ketchup. Everything else tasted the same like it would in any other diner/café, so nothing really special. If you’re located in the Huntington Beach area, it would be a great place to dine. We came on a Tuesday morning around 10AM, so there wasn’t much of a wait. The waitress was nice to us, so the service wasn’t as bad as other reviews claimed them to be. They have a choice to be seated inside or outside on the patio. There’s not much seating overall, but it gives it a great, small-diners-café-type-of-feel. Buuuuut, since I live not so close to this café, most likely, I wouldn’t visit it again, especially since I could find the same quality of food in a café nearby my place. I would only come back to this place if they had something special I can’t get anywhere else, but sadly, I couldn’t find anything.

We bought the Groupon because the reviews for this place seems pretty decent and I’m ok with a decent breakfast place. I’m all about trying out new places. But after our meal we will not be returning, actually I regret that we even came here. We walked right up late Saturday morning and were quickly seated inside. It took a long while for the waitress to get to us. We ordered and waited a loooooooong time before our food came out. When we got the food(Hawaiian French Toast with eggs and bacon and a scramble) EVERYTHING was cold. It was like the food was made a second after we ordered and the waitress waited 15 minutes to bring it to us. Hawaiian French Toast — the waitress said that it is supposed to be amazing. After the first bite I thought it was amazingly horrible. The bread was not even dipped into an egg wash and grilled. It was like they took it out of the bag, smushed some toasted coconut on it and dressed it with strawberries and powder sugar. I could have gotten better french toast at Denny’s, and I HATE Denny’s. It was just bread out of the bag. Not even toasted. The bacon and eggs that I ordered were COLD. Meat Lover’s Scramble — COLD! And the black beans that came with this dish tasted like it was out of a can. The corn tortillas was the only thing that came out hot. Good Day Café was a total disappointment. I was hoping for an amazing french toast like the one at Palo Alto Creamery. Glad we only spent $ 12 for the Groupon and not the $ 35 our bill came out to be.

Came here… 4 tables open, but we had to wait 20 min for a table. As we were seated I noticed 2 tables walk out. We waited another 15 min. No one took our order and no one came back with our drinks. The table next to us got food… Notice I did not say their food as it was the wrong food. The waitress then passed the food to a bus boy that went table to table trying to figure out who it belonged to. Next I heard a waitress apologize to another table because they still did not get their food. She told them that everyone working was new because all the waitress’s quit this week. We walked out no one noticed.

I came in bc I bought a Groupon and brought my gf with me. It’s our first time here. It reminds me of Paul’s except a little nicer. I don’t really understand the bad comments. Maybe I came on a day that had nice cool weather. We each got a mimosa. Also my first; quit yummy. She ordered Tuna Wrap with a side of fries. I think they’re called steak fries? Bc they’re really fat. I got Manhattan Tuna Melt and fries as well. Both these plate portions were big, but I finished everything. We both thought our dishes were delicious. Each plate was about 8.95ish and the mimosas were $ 4. The bill came out to $ 28. I used my groupon that I paid $ 12 for +$ 2 difference that I owed+ $ 4tip. Not bad. On a non-groupon day I wouldn’t drive the 13.5 miles for the same food I could get 2 miles down the road.

I’ve said this before but I don’t know what other people are eating to merit the reviews I read before eating here(we’ve lived in LA for about seven weeks and I have to say I’m having a hard time relying on Unilocal lately). The reviews promised somewhere between A-ok and Yea! so we felt pretty confident. Sadly our confidence was misplaced… again. Things I liked about this place: I was with my husband and favorite dining partner, Jim W; It was a hop, skip and a jump from the beach. Things I didn’t like about this place: Didn’t realize that flavorful was an option so I didn’t order it; Their bacon appeared to be turkey bacon; Their hash browns were pasty/starchy; Their mimosas — cheap OJ and cheap champagne do not equal good drink; The service — people were pleasant but absolutely inattentive. All I could say at the end of the meal was, «I’m sorry we drove an hour for this.» Having had the«misleading reviews» experience a number of times now, and having been able to rely on Unilocal when we lived in both Phoenix and Boston, I’m trying to figure out what gives. Hopefully we’ll find those hidden gems before too long.

I was on the fence between 2 and 3 stars. The food was bland and unremarkable even though I ordered what I expected would be a flavorful breakfast, the chicken machaca scramble. The pan fried red potatoes had no flavor other than the oil they were cooked in(I’m guessing it was goose fat). The service was sort of friendly but inattentive. I had to grab someone for water, grab someone for more coffee, etc. So I was thinking as we drove home that it was average at best, 2.5 stars. Then I opened up the bag with my muffin I bought to go. Banana-coconut. I had a bite. It tasted like baking soda. Salty and sodaish like baking soda with a pasty consistency. In to the garbage it went. Now I’m on the fence between 1.5 and 2 stars.

I went here for the first time this past weekend — I had purchased the GROUPON and decided to give it a try. Its a very small place, and it was VERY hot this weekend… if they had air conditioning, you couldnt tell, or it wasnt on. There were also no fans. It was unbearably hot. It also took a really long time to get someone to come up to our table. When we first walked in, no one said anything and its a tiny place so theres nowhere to really stand and wait to be seated, so we walked in and I asked if we could just sit at the one open table. I would say a good ten minutes passed before anyone came to get our drink order even. The table next to us had also had the Groupon, and they ordered before us, and the tables are close, so we of course heard what they ordered. I ordered the El Bandito Benedict. My friend ordered a breakfast burrito. The table next to us ordered regular Eggs Benedict. Their food came first, and I noticed the eggs benedict looked like the El Bandito. They forgot part of the other breakfast, the eggs. A minute or two later, my food came, and it was regular eggs benedict. So they switched the two tables. They remade mine and it came out quickly. I thought the food was very tasty, and my friend enjoyed the burrito(which was pretty large). I would go back again, but I would go on a much cooler day and sit outside where there is at least air circulating. The pancakes also looked very big!

I’ve been here twice and I really like this place. Lucky for me, both times I went on a crisp sunny morning so it’s great to sit outside and basque in the morning sun while eating breakfast. The people here are really nice and the food’s solid. Can’t really complain. Not amazing tasting, but the overall experience here is just so pleasant, when I think of getting breakfast, I think of here. Prices are a little much but the ingredients are pretty fresh. Honestly, I originally gave this place a 4 star but realized it’s because I live so close by. I could walk here. So if this place was further away I might not be so enticed to drive here for breakfast. Place opens at around 0700 and I think it closes at around 1400.

Thanks to your reviews, we tried The Good Day Café for a weekend breakfast. We lucked out around 10am, not much of a wait. Décor is simple, nothing fancy, good food, busy, and a place we will now frequent. We live across town, and had never heard of it. The eggs benedict was very good, as was the chicken fajita omlette. The portions were huge.(A fruit bowl is very generous) There was much on the menu I wanted to try. There is indoor and outdoor dining. Outdoors you can have a dog — and use the doggy menu. I love breakfast spots like this. There is also a lunch and dinner menu, and coffee menu… all looked wonderful.

Great food, close to home… what more could I ask for? The food is consistently good. I almost always order breakfast… they make great omelettes and scrambles. The service can be kind of hit or miss because no matter how many times I have been here, I cannot figure out what I’m supposed to do if all of the tables are full. There is no host/ess table so it’s always awkward trying to figure out what to do. It has a hipster feel to it. I love that you can bring your dog here, even though Max hasn’t gotten that treat yet. Once you’re seated though, there is usually friendly service. It can be a bit slow sometimes, but a nice chai tea latte or cappuccino keeps me happy while I wait :) I love the ranchero scramble, but I have to try the french toast. It looks so good! The one time i did order lunch, I had a turkey sandwich and it was really good! A bit sad it took me so long to try this place.

I LOVE this place. My girlfriend and I come here all the time for breakfast. I almost always get the Breakfast Burrito #3. This thing is huge and delicious and only $ 5.95! We even shared the burrito once, plus two coffees, our bill was wicked cheap. They also offer a lot of other unique and healthy breakfast and lunch dishes. There’s indoor and outdoor seating(bring your dog) and the staff is generally very nice and attentive. My one and only complaint about this place is the fact that it’s rather small and rather popular; especially on saturdays and sundays. On the weekends it can get VERY packed and you may have to wait quite a while just to be seated. On days like that it can feel a little understaffed. This place seems to be one of the more popular breakfast cafes in the greater HB/NOC area. They should really consider moving to a larger space and hiring more staff.

Tiny, comfortable lil café in HB. Outdoor seating for you awesome dog owners. Great breakfast menu and huge portions. Fast and super friendly staff. Restroom way in the back through the kitchen. Very weird. :P Why the 4 stars? Cuz they actually have a Doggy Menu too! :D

Hula french toast. awesome 5⁄5. comes with fruit and tons of coconut. Blue cheese omelette…3.75/5. Good but the standard blue cheese omelette, nothing special that makes it pop. Cilantro soup…3.75/5. again, good but standard for a place like this. Grilled veggie sandwich was good. 4⁄5. Overall, a great place to eat at. Food is average for Cafes of this caliber except the french toast which is the must have item here.

— Locale destination — More like inland side of Huntington Beach. It’s closer to Bolsa Chica. Hawaiian type of décor. Nothing so fancy. I like the outside seating. Staff are very friendly. Good service. — Gluttony expedition — Fresh pineapple & coconut butter milk pancake: It’s very airly fluffyness. Do I like it?! It’s ok. I still prefer the pancake from Disneyland. Diced pineapples are in the pancake. The strawberry slices were on the top of the pancakes. It’s very cute by look and refreshing by taste. It’s very light pancake. Little less than $ 6 — I can’t complain ;) I do see the value. It was a special menu, so I’m not sure whether if you can have it all the time… Breakfast burrito #8: Egg with ground beef, hashbrown, beans etc. It’s very homie. Nothing so special but a great portion for the price. The salsa was not spicy at all and was needed more kicks… — Conqueror’s deduction — 3.5 stars. The breakfast menu is NOT cheap. But the special menu is cheap. They cater good quality foods. I rather pay a bit more for better quality foods. I feel value ;)
