Went in here to check out the BJJ class. Johnny Morgan teaches it. He told me he was a high school wrestling coach… so when we rolled he tried to show me some moves. His technique was all over the place. Not a good sign. Checked out some video of (
) here. Every video I looked him up on in youtube has him pulling guard and then losing. Not sure what to think about doing BJJ here. Do they have another instructor who is competent at BJJ?

Problem description:
My son signed up to do boxing, I was told when he signed up he could cancel anytime with a 30 day written notice– I sent this company a notice on 11÷21÷15 I then sent a second request on 11÷24÷15 then a third request on 11÷24÷15− I then alerted my bank and was told by the bank that they would not allow charges anymore from this vendor– the vendor somehow keeps charging my account $ 129.00 a month and just ignores the fact that I want to cancel when I was told I could cancel– this is bad billing and bad business– I am requesting that HB Ultimate pays me back $ 129 from their December 23 charge as well as $ 129 from their January Charge– I am letting go the charges from September, October and November as somehow I did not catch that they were making these charges until a later date– I would tell people not to sign up because they will lie to you and then never cancel the account– they did this to my friend and she had to change her debit card for this same reason same company– BAD BUSINESS!

You should never have to go to these type of lengths to cancel a contract–
They did this same thing to my friend and she had to cancel her card out as they continued to charge her card when she repeatedly cancelled the membership–
I say before you give them your information be 100% sure you are ready to never cancel–

This place was great… took my first kickboxing class here. They made me feel welcome and really put effort into showing me exactly what to do… im coming back and signing up for some more classes… it’s a really comfortable atmosphere.

After the first time prospect customer trail kickboxing class, I asked about membership and cost. After the employee, Mike, gave me the run down, I asked if I could apply the Unilocal deal they have on their page. He asked what it was and I answered with «it’s a $ 100 voucher», he said yes. I logged on Unilocal,bought the deal on the spot and showed him the promo code to apply it to the membership I was going to buy and the planning on putting the rest on my debit card.
He reads it and then informs me he cannot accept it because he was knocking off the enrollment fee. Needless to say, I walked out with no gym membership, highly annoyed, I’m out $ 50, and now a $ 100 voucher there I cannot use.

I have never felt more welcome and encouraged by trainers than I was at HBUTC. All of the trainers and staff at the front desk knew me by name pretty much after the first couple of months I started going here. I was doing the cardio kickboxing and boot camp, and both classes were very challenging and always made me feel like I was getting an amazing workout. I also liked that it started to feel like family after a while of going here.
If you’re in the area and want a challenging workout, I suggest you try HBUTC!

This gym is filled with wanna be fighters, the only cool one is Brady. They’re super unprofessional and just want your money. I’ve been to a few gyms and this is my least favorite.

I didn’t know anything about kickboxing when I first started going to this gym which made me very apprehensive to join, but I’m so glad I did. The instructors are great and don’t make you feel stupid for not knowing the difference between a jab and a cross especially when there are mma fighters working out here lol. It’s such a fun workout, the gym is really clean, and the staff is so friendly. I highly recommend joining this gym!

I have been committed to HBUTC for over 7 years. A complete 180 from the original location to the new location that opened in 2010. Just a great feel of the overall look of indoor photos, outdoor signs & most of all the equipment to be a part of a professional MMA gym. If you want to train, get fit or just attend a private gym HBUTC is the place. Weights & machines are always open, don’t have to wait for people babysitting machines like everyone has seen happen at larger gyms.
Kickboxing classes are great, trainers follow your moves & inform you the right way to kick & hit the bags without injuring yourself no matter what size of the class. Mats & bags are wiped cleaned after each class. Daily I see a professional janitorial supervisor that cleans ALL machines & mats which no question is a great thing to see at your neighborhood gym. Going to have my son start attending jiu jitsu classes soon.

My first day of kickboxing class at HB Ultimate was pretty much my first time working out EVER. I actually injured my shin because I was so out of shape, but the owner Tiki spent 30 minutes icing it after class to minimize the bruising. That kind of personalized attention by the staff and even the owner is just what I’ve come to expect and really love about this gym. I have been an active member of HB Ultimate for over a year now. I went from never setting foot into a gym to being in the best shape of my life and looking forward to the experience every time.
Kickboxing classes at HBUTC are offered about 6 times every day and on weekends, so it’s easy to integrate into your schedule. The instructors have very different teaching styles and levels of difficulty so there’s something for everyone. Skyler’s classes are my favorite, he uses pads during the class and directed stretching time at the end. Chris taught me everything during my first class and was really patient and attentive. Now that he knows what I can do he really pushes me to work harder and not slack off (which I definitely need!). Rob incorporates some shadow boxing in his class and is medium to hard in difficulty. Rob corrected me during some of the combos that other instructors had not done before. Tiki’s advanced kickboxing classes are the toughest. He also has really close attention to detail and proper form.
I will definitely remain a member here for as long as I live in the area and would recommend HB Ultimate to anyone wanting to get a kick-​ass workout, no matter your skill level or past experience.

I just joined this gym about three weeks ago. I absolutely love the kickboxing classes. Skyler is an amazing instructor. I was a complete newbie to kickboxing and he helped me individually so I could pick up the combos during class.
I recently quit another gym because of how filthy the bathrooms and equipment were. I absolutely LOVE how clean HB Ultimate is. They keep the place in good order too, no weights on the floors/​in the wrong spots. There is never a wait to use equipment either which is a huge plus when I want to get in a quick workout.
Although I am recently new to this gym they already made me feel like family. Skyler and Mike both comment if I haven’t been in a few days. The staff is great and the clientele is very friendly. I recommend this gym!!!

I trained here a few years back and found this gym to be extremely unprofessional. I tore my labrum in my right shoulder while training jiujitsu and when I explained while I was canceling my membership I was mocked. The guy said I didn’t need to make excuses to explain why I no longer wanted to train. Well, an MRI a few weeks later confirmed the tear and later I had it repaired. I wouldn’t recommend this gym to anyone because the owner and management are your standard HB tools.

So sad to have to write a bad review — which I don’t do very often or ever at all — they have absolutely HORRIBLE customer service and there payment service is a joke — unfortunately after a being a loyal member for two years I had to cancel due to an emergency circumstance (my husband is in the hospital and needs emergency care out of state) they still had the nerve to charge $ 470 ! to cancel my membership (only after having renewed my membership for JUST 2 WEEKS). — I was so sad that they don’t have any empathy for their loyal customers who are in desperate situations — a side note is that there many of their instructors have no respect for women — I actually had to call and complain one time because an instructor was talking about «having sex with fat chicks and than beating up MMA style afterwards» so disgusting and crude! please save your money and go to many of the wonderful MMA gyms out there besides this one.

I am very disappointment in the payment service. My contract states payment to be taken out on the 12^th of each month. It moved to the 1^st of the month without my permission and completely messed up my fiances. I would not recommend a contract with this gym as they hold you to the terms but do not hold up their end.
The cardio kickboxing class is pretty good. There are a few good trainers who are helpful and really make me sweat. Although, many do not seem to take the class seriously. They talk with each other and joke around rather than teach the class. As for the people taking the class they too seem to think its a social hour. Taking about how much they partied the night before ECT. But what did you expect its HB, right?
I enjoy the classes with the serious instructors and the students egger to learn. It takes time to find them but they are enjoyable. When my contract is over I will be searching for a different gym but for now it will due.

I’ve been a member here for a while and I absolutely love it. I go for the cardio kickboxing classes several times per week. There are a few different instructors who teach and while the structure of the class is the same the workout varies every class. By the end of the hour you are drenched in sweat and will have gotten a killer workout. There’s no daycare, but they never have a problem with me putting my son in the stroller off to the side of class so I can watch him while I work out. Granted I usually go during weekdays so it’s not crowded. They also have an awesome kids mma class that I’ll be enrolling my son in soon. The gym is immaculate and VERY clean. The first class is free and it’s definitely worth checking out! If the price seems a little steep just know it’ll be worth it — you basically have unlimited access to the gym and the classes. You get what you pay for.

So I took off for a while to go to Thailand and Malaysia and finally after six month I came back to the gym. OMG I can’t believe how hard it is to start all over again.
First of all I want to thank TIKKI (the owner) for giving me a good deal when I came back, I appreciate the fact that he didn’t treat me like a new customer all over again and treated me properly when I was signing again at his gym.
The trainers all been very supportive of me trying to get back in shape, since I am sooooo Freaking out of shape right now and have gained lots of weight since the last time I came to this gym.
I am now taking Jujitsu classes as well, took my first class last week and the instructor is fantastic, he made me feel right at home and made sure that I don’t feel out of place since I was the only person in the ring who did not have at least a purple belt.
Called me today at work wondering why I had not shown up to class for the past few days (working double shifts) and encouraged me to come back in as soon as I get a chance or he will keep calling me (Which I love).
Not many places will give you this kind of attention or care. Chris at the kickboxing class is also a top instructor who constantly is paying attention to your every move making sure that you are doing them right. and makes sure that you sweat your ass off.
Great place.
OH by the way I read a review of a customer that was unhappy when he cancelled his contract, I don’t know what happened but I do know from personal experience (when I left to Thailand) that if you talk to them and explain to them properly they will take care of you, I did not have the same experience, actually when I cancelled my contract it was very easy and not very expensive.
Sometime you just need to talk to the owner or the manager because they have the power to help out more than the rest.

This seems like the never ending cancelation process after 3 emails, 3 trips there and waiting they are still charging me. Just remember that when your signing up.

If you are looking for a high intensive fat burning, AB toning, calorie losing classes the HB Ultimate Training Center is right for you. Never crowded and perfect for the entire family. Kid’s classes are amazing. Not only do they learn discipline and teamwork, but they are active from head to toe getting a full body workout.
I have lost over 20lbs of fat since I started taking cardio kickboxing classes in April.
I am huge fan of the workouts that are taught by the pros.
Clean and friendly facility. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a real workout.

I signed up under the impression that I was able to cancel with no penalty as long as it was within 5 days. WRONG!!! I paid the cancellation fee which was $ 450! Then to find out that I was still being charged!!! It took over a year for them to finally cancel my account.

This is the ONLY gym I’ve ever went to that has cleaning wipes to wipe down your bag/​floor area, and the students do it after every kickboxing class. The floor also gets cleaned multiple times during the day by the trainers/​employees.
The free weights and machines here are NEVER busy. This is a huge plus as you get a more ideal and efficient workout with NO waiting for machines. Also, a special note for the powerlifters: SQUAT RACK! If you’re serious about working out, you know how annoying it is when a gym does not have one, or it does and you’re dealing with the machine hogs at Bally’s or 24, waiting damn near half an hour for them to get off of it! All that is non-​existent here. They also have a complimentary cubby-​hole area where you can store your backpack, gloves, shoes, etc.
It’s not unusual to see a well known MMA fighter here training students or even training for an upcoming fight himself, and it’s pretty cool to see. Also, your first class is always free just to check it out, and you can even bring a friend. I haven’t tried their Jiu-​Jitsu, Advanced MMA, or 4pm Boot Camp classes, but I always see them around me when I take my regular kickboxing classes. There are different instructors for every class, and it’s cool because it switches up the routine, breaks the monotony and adds a different perspective almost every time you train.
Most of my friends have a 24 hour gym membership and have wondered why I have not renewed my membership there. It’s simply because, aside from not having a sauna or basketball court, the gym experience I have here is far superior in just about every way.

This gym is not for the shy, or first time gym goers.
Serious fitness and kick boxing folks only need to come to this gym.
Its straight to the point, rarely busy, smells of sweaty UFC fighter type guys, but is equipped with EVERYTHING a serious gym goer needs.
I didn’t feel the «ego» of the kickboxers. They were VERY much to themselves and didn’t try to give me tips like MANY guys do at 24 hour fitness.
I love that it’s not busy in there. The gym has EVERYTHING you need for a superior work out, BOSU Balls, jumpropes, free weights, machines, pull up bars, etc.
The kickboxing class is a pretty damn workout. You can still go at your own pace and its definitely «boot camp» style so don’t expect it to be easy or beginner. The guy who instructed it was helpful and guided me through my kicks and punches. He corrected my technique but wasn’t rude or egotistical.
If you bruise easily beware because my shins were black and blue from kicking the bag. It was a great cardio routine.

So I’ve been training here for a couple years now and figured I’d post a review since they have recently moved and upgraded a shit ton of equipment.
If you aren’t familiar with this place, they used to be in a tiny little strip mall at the corner of Yorktown and Beach. They have since moved north on Beach and are at the beginning of the row of auto dealers, just past the El Pollo Loco I think. The difference between their old place and their new place is night and day. It looks like they invested a fortune in new mats, bags, and equipment, as well as hired a few new instructors and front desk folks. The new place is also about 10,000 square feet. It’s huge and it’s packed full of stuff. They have a full gym with free weights and machines, a boxing ring, an octagon, BJJ mats, Muay Thay mats, and about 30 or so brand new Muay Thai heavy bags. It’s huge.
There are a bunch of reasons why I give this gym 5 stars. First, I’ll address the cleanliness:
They tried their best to keep the old place clean, but the new place is spotless. After every BJJ class they spray the mats down and clean them. After every Kickboxing class they wipe down every bag with sanitized wipes, and every time I’m in there I see people cleaning the mirrors and bathrooms.
Next, the quality of instructors:
The trainers are all fighters. This isn’t a place where the owner had one professional fight, and then opened a gym. Tiki was in the UFC for a few years. Tito Ortiz has trained here, and so has Rampage. Rob McCullough still fights professionally and trains here daily. They have a slew of other fighters showing up to train here as well. All the kickboxing instructors are fighters and they are very good at what they do. If you come to a kickboxing class, be prepared to get your ass kicked (not literally). If you come to a BJJ class, be prepared to learn.
The other thing I like is the atmosphere. It’s laid back. The instructors are all very cool. The front desk folks are not slimey salesmen. That is not to say they won’t try and get you to sign up, but they are cool and will answer questions honestly.
Are there better places to learn Muay Thai? I can think of one for sure. Are there better places to learn BJJ? I can’t think of any that really outshine what Perez Jr. has going. Is there anywhere that offers everything this place offers? No.
Overall value:
This is the only gym in HB that is open 7 days a week. They offer kickboxing classes about 5 times throughout the day. The BJJ classes are twice a day, I think. Another thing with the BJJ classes; they are no Gi classes. That saves you about 140 bucks in buying a Gi, and it’s more practical for those of us who don’t want to compete in tournaments. This is the only place I know of in town that offers no gi classes that often. They also have MMA classes in the morning, and wrestling classes a couple days a week. They also have daily kids classes Monday through Thursday I believe.
Another thing that you should think about. If you’ve read my previous reviews, I’ve complained about the billing of similar MMA places in town. Guess what? They do all their billing in house. No bullshit companies holding your contract over your head. IF you have problems with billing, you go in and talk to them and they take care of it there. This is the only place in town (that I know of) that operates completely in house. Fucking epic!
With that said, there is a contract and there is a sign up fee. The good thing about this is that they offer specials all the time. HIt them up on Facebook; they normally post when they are having specials.
In summary:
Not only does the HBUTC have the most equipped gym in Huntington Beach, they are also the only gym open 7 days a week, and they are they offer more classes than any other gym in HB. They are also priced well below most, if not all gyms in the area. To top it off, there are always plenty of great looking women (dude’s too) here when you work out. It’s a very motivating environment when you come in. Not to say that it’s a cheeseball meat market; it’s anything but. It’s a real gym without any of the bullshit that gyms like 24 hour fitness offer. There aren’t any dudes in here looking at their muscles in the mirror and there aren’t any women in full makeup looking to score their next man. People come here to work out. If this sounds good to you and you can handle the contract, I say you should come in, take a free class, and see for yourself!
If you’ve read my reviews, you know I won’t bullshit anyone. This place is legit and it’s absolutely bananas that they can offer everything they do, for the price you pay.
