What can I say… this place feels like home. :) It’s a local, non-​downtown, cool place to hang out alone for a beer and chat with the bartenders or to bring a few friends and chill. It’s not touristy or trendy, it’s just a cool place. I’ve made a lot of friends here and I love each and every bartender. :) Amy, Janelle, Tammy, and Desiree.

Lame bar tender girl kicked 30 peeps out. Went there bouncer was cool but no reason not to serve. so many cool bars on Beach Blvd to go to don’t waste your time at this bar.

My brother brought 20+ people with him for his birthday party. Every year we do the same pub crawl on our bike. Your bar was practically empty except for what lm sure was a few regulars. Yes, my brother was a drunk mess, pull him aside and ask him to put his drink down or ask him to leave, your bar tender called him out in front of his entire group of friends and family. First told him he had his last drink. Okay, we agreed. Then claimed that he spilled his beer all over the pool table, he didn’t, you’re a jerk. Second time calling him out in front of his friends and family. You’re a bar tender, relax!

Went in to this bar for my brothers 2nd annual pub crawl and 1st year the place was dead and a complete shit hole and nobody there and we brought in a group of 20+ people. its was ok. This year (not a couple of hours ago) same thing and then my brother in law (the birthday boy) gets kicked out for what? Idk being a little drunk and loud? The bartender was a complete birch and couldn’t handle the extra income we brought in and called her bouncer over and kicked us out!!! This place FUCKING SUCKS ASSHOLE!!! Don’t go here if you want to done money and then kicked out for no reason then go here! Del taco got our money tonight… If I could I would give you (–stars)

Yeah this bar is in serious need of a overhaul. Went there a few times with friends, was not very inviting. Just another dive place. Won’t go there again. Shame really.

I’m in love with this place. The dive-​y-​est of bars in HB. Simple layout. Lots of pool tables. Cheap drinks. Nice bartenders. I also really like their jukebox. I have no complaints about this place.

Beautiful, witty & comprehensive bar staff. Great selection of drafts & bottled brews, backed by a perfectly relaxed atmosphere. Ask for Desiree, Janelle, Amy or Tammy. Top service accompanies a clean cut «dive bar» (if you could call it that), possessing the all encompassing true neighborhood hangout vibe. My new favorite place, excellent facilities for pool, Buck hunter & top golf.

The bartenders here need to be replaced. Talk about terrible customer service. I used to love this place until the blonde bartender had the security guard come up and tell me to shut up. I didn’t realize it was wrong to talk loud at a bar! Sorry blondie but your just rude and have terrible customer service!!! I will never come back here.

Its ok I used to frequent here much more and the bartenders were way friendlier before now they seem to just do the minimum unless they know you well. One didn’t remember our drinks we had to repeat it two to three times each time we went up the other only remembered my husbands drink since he plays pool there weekly mine was the same drink shouldnt be hard just kinda hilarious they dont make an effort

Cool dive bar reminds me of the crab shack from my name is earl haha, really good service, friendly patrons laidback vibe great place to come to chill! Especially if you love pool there are 9 pool tables the only problem is that you have to pay for your music but then again you get to choose what you like

The pen is the best! I always come here for a great game of pool. Even after the tournaments it’s still fun to hang out. Everybody is legit, Janelle is always nice and gets my orders right and prompt. The bouncer/​handyman Johnny always greets me with respect and protects the bar. Overall I highly suggest this bar and if you see me let me know and I’ll buy you a drink, Cheers

I love it here. It is reasonably priced, clean, open, bright and welcoming. The bartenders are all friendly, attentive and prompt… although, I guess if you are a drunk twat or wasted douchebag you might not like the place.

Harsh environment.
I myself am a very polite person, I was raised very «yes sir no sir» and the moment I walked in I was getting sized up by a few of the groups of patrons for no reasons that are unknown to me.
I didn’t even stay to finish my round of billiards or my drink.
In my opinion you pick a bar for the atmosphere and this place just seemed like a place to get into a fight.
Needless to say I won’t be going back.
Go to kits place, it’s less than a block away and the atmosphere is always great.
Not once have I had a bad expierence there.

Desiree was very professional she recommend some excellent scotch whiskey and she was very friendly and took care of us. It was my friends bday and we had a wonderful time because of her. Overall Desiree was 5 stars and we will definitely be coming back again if she is working.

Many drunken nights spent here playing pool, devouring pitchers, and taking shots. This is a good hang out spot for a small or large group of people who want to hang out and converse. Bar tenders are friendly, and most of the patrons are pretty civilized.
I had one instance where I was walking by myself to my truck in the parking lot, and someone came up behind me trying to fight me for no reason. The guy was completely wasted and I couldn’t even understand what he was trying to yell at me. I think he was actually kicked out of The Pen. I’ll just say the situation was resolved very quickly, with the outcome in my favor. I’ve never understood HB and the overly aggressive bro MMA fighter types.
