They had my car for almost 5 hours and did nothing then called me to ask what needed to be done after talking with Mike and some lady claiming to be the «head nurse «as she quoted herself. She told me she would write things down so when mike got back from lunch he could get the work done. I told her I needed an alignment and tires rotated for sure plus my brake fluid changed. She said ok. Then 5 hours later not a thing was done for me. Wow horrible service. I’d leave zero stars if I could. I’m going to Toyota to get my work done. This was the worst first time experience.

Went for our first time last week to have an oil change done on our Tahoe. They were awesome. Got the job done quickly and were extremely efficient. I paid exactly what I was quoted over the phone. They didn’t try to push a bunch of stuff at me that I didn’t need. I will definitely be going back again :)

Customer service is top notch here! Val made the process so easy for me. I was pressed for time and she made it happen rather than me ignoring my flashing maintenance light for another week. My car is 9 years old and it was running like a 9-​year-​old car. Now my baby is running like a champ, the air-​conditioner is working optimally again and my new brakes are keeping me safe and sound on those sudden stops that gave me anxiety before. I was astonished when I received a follow-​up call to see how everything was going since they’ve worked on my car. That is an absolute first. I couldn’t be more pleased with everything. Thanks Val, Mike, Little Mike and crew for taking care of my baby!

Val & mikes Auto fixed my Audi A6 Quatro after a very well known Audi place in Newport Beach couldn’t get basic things completely right. V & M’s Audi mechanic is amazing and the only place we trust for our Audi and Chevy Truck. Mike and Val and the mechanics take their time to talk to their customers the old fashion way, face to face, and explain everything. They take their time and do a thorough job! We had taken our truck there for 4 years but now we take our Audi too!

I have been a customer for over 20 years. They have taken care of three of my cars. A couple of years ago, I purchased a «pre-​owned» Honda from Auto Nation. The first time I took it to Auto Nation for my free oil change (four free), they told me I needed a new battery. So I took it to Val and Mike’s. They said I had at least a year left on the battery. The next time I went to Auto Nation, they told me I needed new brakes, but Val and Mike’s told me that I didn’t need new brakes. My niece now lives here in HB and she takes her car there. I completely trust Val and Mike!

There invoice says Quality Service and Complete Satisfaction is their number 1 Goal, but we are NOT SATISFIED. My wife took our vehicle in as we had pink fluid leaking. Estimated cost was $ 213 in parts and $ 468 in labor at a total of $ 650 for replacing a upper radiator hose, lower radiator hose, power steering hose and thermostat. None of these problems fixed the problem that originally was pink fluid leaking. My wife picks the vehicle up to be told that they did not fix the leak and that we need to now have our Water pump replaced for another $ 450. The excuse they gave my wife is that they pressure washed the vehicle and could not tell where the leak was until she came that morning. All we wanted was our leak fixed correctly for the original $ 650. They offered to give us a free rental car. We wanted a better discount then the new cost of another $ 450 out of our pocket. We explained our dissatisfaction and that they would loose a customer that had been there previously before with no issues, yet that did not seem to matter to them. I am disappointed!!!

We have been customers of Val and Mike’s Auto Repair for over 15 years. This is a family owned business who cares deeply about making their customers happy. Val and Mike are knowledgeable about the car maintenance business, HONEST (rare in this industry) and all around fantastic people. I will continue to recommend all my friends to Val and Mike’s Auto Repair, as I believe strongly in supporting local family run businesses. It’s a bonus they are such amazing people as well. Talk to Val about her passion for running. And stay for awhile to listen to Mike’s jokes. He’s hysterical. :)

Val and Mike (the mechanic — I didn’t meet the owner Mike) are super nice, friendly people. They were really helpful both on the phone and in person. I felt immediately at home upon entering the office. They were also very transparent with the work to be done. I just got my 30k mile service done on my 2013 Genesis coupe and I felt the price was fair. They offer a 10% AAA discount as well. The waiting room is clean and comfortable. The work was completed quickly, too! I will most likely be using them for all my major services on all my vehicles. It seems I’ve finally found a good shop in OC I can go to regularly :)

After the dealership (aka stealership) wanted an exorbitant amount of money to replace a wheel bearing on my son’s 2005 G35, I contacted Val and Mike’s. What a pleasant surprise of professionalism. They were honest and upfront about everything. They performed the repairs as promised in a timely manner. No hidden costs, just quality service. My son’s G35 has never ran smoother. Thank you so much. I will be a loyal customer to you guys from now on. This is a real review!!! No prior experience with them. If you need an Infiniti repaired, I highly recommend them to you!

I have been going to Val & Mike for about 8 years now & cannot say enough wonderful things about everyone there. They are unbelievably nice, caring & HONEST!
You always know that you are getting a true analysis & just because you think something is wrong with the alternator… does not mean that they are going to tell you that you need a new one :) unlike other places! They truly want to earn your trust & life long business!
After an oil change or two… When you call in, they know who you are & there is always a warm welcome as you walk through the door!

I’d like to echo a sentiment here: I wish I had found Val and Mike a looooong time ago. I was brought to their shop via a friend’s recommendation, and I really just couldn’t have been more pleased or satisfied.
I can’t recall meeting two people who are more sincere, down-​to-​earth and just plain nice as heck. I immediately felt comfortable and welcome… like I had been going to their shop for years.
My Mazda 6 needed new pads and, as it turns out, new rotors, which I was expecting, and three «check» lights were on. The price I paid for the diagnostic services, parts and labor was more than fair.
The tech who checked me in was top-​notch, every last thing done to my car and itemized on my bill was explained clearly (and Val first itemized and explained everything over the phone before I approved the work), the work was done fast (and would have been faster if not for my own issues), I could have gotten a ride home if I needed one and my whole first experience at Val & Mike’s was great.
Honest and hardworking. Friendly and sincere. Efficient and skilled. Fair and conscientious. What more could you ask for? Thank you!

I’ve been going here for years. 19 years worth of maintenance and repairs. Val and Mike are honest and sincere. Their goal is to keep your vehicle running smoothly and have you returning only for the oil changes and other maintenance needs.
They work as best they can with client’s crazy schedules and will help you with car rental, or shuttle you home, if it’s not too far.
My current car is an ’06 Pilot. It has over 225,000 miles on it. Thanks to Val & Mike my Pilot is an awesome car that I look forward to driving for several years to come.
You’ll be hard pressed to find a more honest and reliable auto mechanic in my opinion.

I wish I had found this place sooner! They really take care of their customers, they explain whats going on and are super friendly and professional. I will definitely refer this place to my friends.

I brought my van in because it needed brakes and the rear air conditioner (blend door) needed to be repaired. The front a/​c worked fine but the fan speed selector need replacing. I was called later and made aware that my front end suspension needed an overhaul including inner and outer tie rods, idler arm, and wheel bearings. Estimate: $ 2500.
The brake job which included rear rotors, the rear a/​c repair, and the mid door latch repair came to $ 1600.
After i picked up the vehicle, i noticed a strange feel in the brake pedal. It pushed in an inch or two, then sticks, then it releases and the brakes would finally engage. I called about this and was told it was due to my front-​end issue. I also told them that the a/​c would shut off when i accelerated. They re-​checked it and I was told this was due to a vacuum leak and was not their problem.
So, for my money, i have brakes that have an issue, an A/​C that has an issue and the door latch is locked up and wont open anymore.
FORD gave me an estimate of $ 1500 for the front end overhaul ($ 1000 .00 cheaper), an estimate of $ 400 for the blend door a/​c repair (which I paid $ 800), and $ 200. to fix the door. FORD also told me that it sounds like the brake pedal is hanging up on something that it wouldn’t behave that way if it was a front-​end issue. They will look at it next week. If it turns out that it IS the front end causing this I will edit this review.
I’ll stick to the Ford dealership from now on.

I would give them more starts if I could!
I have a Lexus LS460. I’ve been a faithful dealership customer for years, but when I got the price for my 60K mile tuneup, I just about hit the roof. I started researching and calling around, and Mike seemed like a real straightforward and honest guy, and the price was about half of what the dealership would charge me. They dropped me off at my office, completed the repair, and then picked me up when my car was ready. Car purred like a kitten after that, although it was running pretty well beforehand. Very satisfied.
Fast forward a month or so, and my wife’s Honda Pilot needed service. I go to the dealership for the standard oil change, rotate tires, and the service advisor starts telling me that I need to replace brake rotors, etc, and that my $ 80 service will now be $ 2400. Needless to say, I declined the huge upsell and took my car to Mike again. He looked over everything, and said I didn’t really need the expensive brake job at all, and made a few minor repairs for a very nominal price.
This experience has taught me that there is really no reason to take my cars anywhere else. I really appreciate that they are trustworthy and do good work at a fair price. Plus, Mike, Val and their team are all really nice people. Their reviews persuaded me come in the first time, and their work will keep me coming back!

I paid $ 320 for a wheel bearing part to be fixed in my car with Val and Mike’s. However, upon searching the exact part number on various online sellers (part #512 218), we found out we had overpaid by about $ 200. I understand that stores have a markup on parts for a profit, but $ 200 is extreme.
I agree with the labor charged and thought the shop was honest in terms of the labor charge as well as certain discounts that were offered. The shop owners and staff seemed very accommodating. However, the charge on the wheel bearing part will keep me from coming back or recommending this shop to others.

So glad to have been referred to Mike and Val’s. They are very honest which is hard to find when searching for a mechanic. I’ve brought two of my vehicles to them for repairs/​inspections multiple times with my first car and for a general inspection after buying a new car while it was still under warranty.
They are very friendly, very honest, and very accommodating.
Highly recommend if you are in need of a shop you can trust!

Let me give praises to Mike for solving my CEL (check engine light) problem. My OBD computer gave me P0174 & P0330, faulty O2 sensor & knock sensors replacement. Mike’s Auto also came up with same computer diagnostic readings.
I replaced 2 of 3 O2 sensors myself. The third sensor was seized, which I couldn’t remove with my tools & lubricating spray. Toyota of HB wanted to replace the entire exhaust manifold. That was unacceptable with a $ 2000 quote. Mike’s auto has the knowledge & tools to remove the seized sensor, thus saving me $ 2K. I supplied the sensor & paid a fair labor charge.
I already knew the knock sensors replacement would be the expensive part b/​c it is labor-​intensive. Based on what I researched, Mike’s quote was fair. Based on what I’ve read on Unilocal & on the company’s website, I felt comfortable giving them my business.
I waited almost 3 weeks to write this review to make sure that my 2002 Toyota Highlander was running fine, & it is. It has 185K miles, & I would like it to last 300K & beyond, if possible. I also have a 1998 Toyota Camry with 250K miles & will bring it to Mike’s for 255K service.

I have never met a repair shop quite like Val & Mike’s. They are amazing! In the current business environment, it’s hard to find good, solid, old fashioned customer service that feels right… but Val, Mike, Lisa and the shop team deliver it in spades! they are personable, motivated and NEVER attempt to sell a customer something they don’t need. Their philosophy can be summed up in 3 words: Review, Advise, Suggest. there is NO hard sell here.
You will not be disappointed with Val & Mike! I guarantee it!
