I am in love with this store
We are trying different bratwursts this week
The men in the butcher counter are real gentlemen We were there close to closing time and the counter man got us anything we wanted
And boy is the meats good
We got some hamburger meat with looked beautiful and it was delish
They have all kinds of german goodies We also got some spreadable liverwurst
Yum
If you have a german food craving, this is the place to go
Try to homemade sauerkraut it is to die for

Best butcher I know of anywhere in the area. Go for the German specialties, stay to eavesdrop on the conversations in German. Begin to feel lost in time, as I don’t think this shop has changed much in decades — as well it shouldn’t. Just thinking about Forest Pork Store, I gotta get back there sooner rather than later. I LOVE this place.

Old school German butcher/​deli/​supermarket that is as authentic a spot one will find this side of Bavaria…
All things German: cold cuts (the obvious ones, plus many outside the box-​like house made german prosciutto), daily sliced fresh ham and leberkase (like a german meatloaf), all cuts of meat, hot dogs and wurst, german beers/​breads/​jellies/​chocolates/​toiletries etc…
Real white-​haired, red faced german counter men in white aprons slice up all the delicacies… just make sure you take a number first, in this little german gem pushing out high quality for decades…

The have these marshmallow yummy goodies that are called mohrenkopf. They are delicious. I highly recommend. It’s kind of like mallomars but so much better.

WOW. I picked up some bacon, hotdogs. pork chops, the best!!! Service the best friendly, helpful. Cant wait to go back and try a few other things.

This store is amazing! Their meat selection is outstanding! Their customer service is stellar! The first time we visited this store we were overwhelmed by the meat selection. We started with the basics, just to get a feel for what to expect — man, our expectations were blown out of the water!
We got the peanuts (mini franks), bockwurst, Krainerwurst, beef bones, and a spaetzl like pasta. The sausages were incredible! I am ruined and saved at the same time! American hot dogs will no longer due! They are way too salty. The bockwurst is like no other, so velvety — a must try if you’ve never obliged. Krainerwurst, awesome. Beef bones made a beautiful broth for french onion soup.
A week later I sent my husband back to pick up some bologna, TV sticks, & more peanuts. He also picked up some Suelze. Now, I’m not into organ meat whatsoever, so I would normally give an «oh hells no!!» upon my husband’s request for me to try headcheese. Because eew… headcheese…2 words that should never be in the same sentence. But — now I trust these beautifully skilled craftsmen, so I try this headcheese, for the butchers not my husband, and was pleasantly surprised the product didn’t automatically jump out of my mouth as expected. Now, it wasn’t a bad flavor, I just wussed out — sorry guys. I will say if I wasn’t such a wuss I would certainly like the Suelze.
The bologna was delicious, so much so I didn’t offer any of it to my 2 year old son! TV sticks, totally tasty!
Bottom line: if you haven’t visited this store, you are missing out!!! Seriously! Call out of work, take a long lunch, ditch your weekend yoga class — do whatever it takes to get out and to this store upon its next available hour! You will not regret it! We live in Patchogue and are happy to drive the distance to get here.

We keep going back. This weekend we tried their house made bacon. A little thicker and far less fatty than store-​bought bacon. And maybe a little less salty, but just awesome with my eggs this morning and we are going to crumble some into our Orzo Mac & Cheese tonight. Get it!

Always great selection and great quality! This is Old School and keeps the traditions that I grew up with in Ridgewood & Glendale alive. So glad that I live so close!

Count down to the finest weisswurst in the US! Grew up eating nothing but the finest German/​Swiss food not only at home but from Forest Pork store. But then moved to Arizona 30 years ago and I can only get my fix when I visit! Help! Will you open a store in Arizona?

I love german food, and couldn’t get enough when I was in Munich. There are only a few good german restaurants on the island, specially since the chef left Black Forest a while ago, boooooo!
But, I veer off topic. This place is fantastic. They have a great selection, the guys behind the counter are VERY friendly and helpful, and every time someone is ordering from the butcher, it’s like he’s teaching you a class you want to attend (as I over listen).
Easily worth trying.

OH MAN OH MAN OH MAN!!!
I am getting some serious meat sweats just thinking about this place. If you are a fan of german food there is no excuse for why you have not been here. Anything you could think of making that is german is here. From the wursts to the beer, to the pretzel bread, sour kraut, mustards, potato salad, everything, they have it! The quality of the meat is just outstanding. I’ve never had german food this good. I would rather shop here and cook myself than go to restaurants bc I think the quality is just better. I would mention what to get but I would jsut be listing every single thing they offer. I will list some favorites though. Their bratwurst, knackwurst, and krainerwursts are my favorite of their wursts and just incredible, Their suelze (head cheese with vinegar) is one of my favorite snacks even with the odd looks I get from my fiancé. Try the landjaeger or tv sticks for a snacking food, they are both dried salami sticks that are just the perfect snack. Potato salad is also incredible, just simply everything is incredible.
I also have to make a note that the guys behind the counter are so friendly and nice. They are so helpful when trying to make decisions and give plenty of great suggestions. Do not be afraid to come here bc they will make you feel at home. This place is 100% legit. Any authentic german food you could be looking for they have.

This is the best True German pork store around. Their meats and imported German delicacies, hence also «deli» make this a store to put on your holiday wish list. Try the best potato salads (German with fresh bacon or with mayo second to none). They have the best hot dogs this side of Coney island, foot long, skinless, and midgets. Give it a try you won’t be disappointed.

This should be stop No. 1 on your way out east –whether for charcuterie to take to the North Fork vineyards, or bbq provisions to bring to your host in the Hamptons.
Killer landerjaeger, nokkel cheese, warm and moist, leberkase, fresh roast ham, garlic cervelat. All of these were better than their namesakes elsewhere, probably due to freshness. The Nurnberger Bratwursts come in two sizes. All the others are represented, couldn’t try them all.
Pretzel roils taken fresh from the oven by your butcher. Bloodwurst and liver pudding await in my fridge. They also have prime steak and good-​looking chickens.
There is a reasonable selection of packaged goods, mustards, herring and German beer.
Prices are good compared to Manhattan, but not as cheap as some of the places in Queens. Take a number on entering, and if there is a line, peruse the selection.
Even as a new customer, I received warm and friendly service. Worth the drive.

Amazing! The best butcher around! Their meats are amazing no matter what you like. German specialists with every wursts you can think of. Highly recommended!

Finally found a store after 14 years in NY that knows what a frankfurter and knock wurst are supposed to taste like.
Their Hungarian salami made on the premises and their famous meatloaf is worth the trip alone.

As an Austrian and German I love this place, absolutely love it! I don’t mind driving from Bayside to here just for cold cuts and other smoked meats. Forget about Boars Head, that is Oscar Meyer compared to these guys. I try and go here at least twice a month if not more!
I need to find and contain the smell of this pork store in an air freshener for my car. Delicious!
Prices are good, sometimes things are a bit more but I always believe in you get what you pay for and the guys behind the deli are all welcoming, helpful, and in general really nice guys.
Its really nice to order my German meats and sausages in German.

Well, I officially now know that I don’t ever need to visit Germany, since whatever German food I could ever want is probably in this store.
I came here with my boyfriend and his parents (who have been there multiple times) to pick up some meat. Even as someone of non-​German heritage (heck, non-​European heritage) I can tell that this place is LEGIT. Pretty much everything is authentic German. Some of the items are a little pricey, but you’re definitely getting good quality.
The highlight of the store is the meat section. It’s like PORK HEAVEN. If you’re here for the butcher, you want to make a dash to the meat section so you can take a number since it can get pretty busy on the weekends. Their mini-​dogs are absolutely delicious (you can’t beat that nice «snap» as you take that first bite) and their pinwheels are amazing (like turducken with red meat… you can’t beat that).
The butcher here definitely takes pride in quality and authenticity. It’s a shame I don’t live in Long Island– I’d come back here in a heartbeat.

Stop here on the way to pick up great stuff for a BBQ with friends. All types of German food, this place was introduced to me by my good friend Bill. He brought over liebercase — which is an amazing flavored cold cut… likely not good for you but delicious… and plump knockwurst for grilling…
Keep good mustard on hand. German potato salad is here also.

Wow! Talk about old school here at Forest Pork. Their selection of German fare is amazing, but the meats are the reason to be here. The ticket machine and number system are straight outta the 50’s and I swear I heard a REAL phone ringing, like the kind with the bell on the side? Great butchers as well, Helpful and friendly, advising on what cuts to buy. Fast as well! A TRUE BUTCHER! For a novice chef like myself, I easily have fallen in love with this place!
