South Huntington Public Library

I thought I was spoiled with the Long Beach library. This blows it out of the water. Not only is it an extremely well stocked, HUGE library but they offer such great programs as well. Yoga, concerts and classes on whatever your little heart fancies. Theres an outdoor garden which is so nice… its like an element of trust you dont get with other libraries. Theres also a plethora of study rooms for the intellectuals.
This library is great and im more than happy to see my tax dollars go to this place!

This 3-​story library opened in 2005, moving from their old location on Melville Rd to this new building. Now located at 145 Pidgeon Hill Rd* (not far from the old one — just South of Jericho Turnpike). There is plenty of parking and easy access, with automatic doors and an elevator (found very helpful when I had knee surgery and a baby). This library has a community center feel with an outdoor garden and benches (accessible from downstairs), a really nice program room and auditorium, café tables where you can bring lunch and have coffee (brewer and vending machines nearby), and monthly calendar of programs featuring concerts, cooking and exercise classes, lectures and more. A rotating gallery of art is displayed on the lower level.
My daughter was born when this library was built and I brought her to so many classes here at the children’s library since she was a baby. She got her library card here at 6 months old. The children’s library, located downstairs, is fantastic and there are toys to play with and couches. Their «open playgroup» available for children 5 and under is where I met so many local Moms, joined a Mom’s group and made some friends for life and scheduled lots of playdates.
Plenty of places for quiet study too. What’s not to love about the library? Why not stop in. here is their website
