Will a Dominican place ever get less than 5 stars from me? I think I’ve had one that was less than great. I’ve been waiting anxiously for about a year, looking at the signs nearly every week on the way to Cardiolo’s or Bodega Hispanica. It opened 2 weeks ago, and I’m really happy.
They are trying hard now because they are new, I hope it lasts. This is a steam table place, which is great for a newcomer. You just say what size a dish you want, and then point to what you want. Prices are always non-​standard at these places, but this week I had ribs, fried yuca, and some fantastic moro (rice and beans) for $ 6. I could eat an entire container full of that moro.
Yoyo’s gives Bodega Hispanica a serious run for their money. I hope this doesn’t erupt any tension in the neighborhood though, because this might get competitive.
I’m going to come back here a ton more. I just found my new dinner spot. It’s refreshing to have a new one open up. I hope to learn a lot more about Dominican food here. Bring it!
