Excellent bartender, great drinks, and nice ambience. They open the doors when it’s warm and they have outdoor seating. If you are into sports, they have two tvs at the bar and are willing to play what you like. If you are into meats, they have a great steak selection.

Food was outstandingly I had the pappardelle with pulled short rib and my husband had the char burger. We shared the calamari for an app! No complaints with this place! Sean behind the bar was AWESOME! Super friendly and he knew the answers to all our questions considering we had a ton because it was our first time in the restaurant. Superb service & food! We will definitely be back!

So we used open table to make a reservation for 8 on Monday evening 2÷9÷2014, got there and found the place locked up. The eight of us headed up to Blackstone’s in Melville, we had not planned on spending $ 2,000 on dinner for the 8 of us but we got carried away with their wine list and sushi. Someone should get an IT guy to work this places bug with OpenTable because it’s embarrassing.

Went with family and friends last weekend and had an amazing dinner. From appetizers to entrees everything was consistently phenomenal and delicious. The cauliflower was my absolute favorite along with the ravioli that were absolutely amazing! The bar and cocktails were my favorite I had the Moscow mule that was by far the best one I ever had. The wait staff was friendly. The bartender was truly dedicated and even makes his own which is my favorite FIREBALL ! Great experience and can’t what to return!

My friends and I decided to check this place out last weekend and it was great! Great atmosphere and everyone was super friendly when we walked in. You have to try the Moscow mule cocktail… Delish. Food was awesome. Perfect combination of flavors and cuisines. We tried a little of everything and everyone at the table loved it all. The pastas were out of this world!!! The sweet potato ravioli were the best I’ve ever had. The half chicken and skirt steak were great too. The chef also came out and talked to a couple tables which I thought was so nice. I will definitely be going back to this place.

Awesome food here, and great service. Me and my girlfriend order multiple dishes to share and have never been disappointed. Love the sweet potato ravioli and spinach and artichoke dip(best I’ve ever had).

I’ll start by saying nothing was bad — but nothing was great. True 2-star review. We went here this evening to celebrate a birthday and we were all really underwhelmed. We had seen the menu that was here in the summer, and that menu made us excited to try the food. Imagine our surprise tonight when the menu just seemed like a more upscale chain restaurant. Spinach and Artichoke dip? Buffalo Wings? I’m not turning my nose down to these foods, but I was just expecting better, different choices based on what I had seen and read. Our appetizers were definitely the better part of the meal. While the burrata(a new addition) wasn’t the creamiest I have ever had it was flavorful. The thick cut bacon also had a nice glaze but needed to be cooked a little longer. It came with an arugula salad overrun with unripened cherry tomatoes. Why put that on a plate? The tuna tartare was fresh and seasoned well. The quesadilla was pretty good — nice and crispy. The entrees — oh, the entrees. NY Strip — overcooked and tiny. Truffle fries tasted like they had been cooked earlier and then reheated. Skirt steak came to the table sliced also overcooked and kind of cold. Sauce was nice, nothing mind blowing. The roast chicken was roast chicken. Did enjoy the mashed potatoes. Vegetables were flavorless. Oh, and what they think succotash is and what the rest of the world thinks are two different things. Nary a lima bean to be found. And nobody enjoyed the cocktails they ordered either. They seem to have good intentions when it comes to service, but it didn’t seem like any table was really attended to. There was a rush around 8 and the place was full, but staff seemed green and harried. For what you pay, I would rather go someplace else.

Fastest update of all time! So, beaming off of my first meal here, I brought some pals in for dinner on Saturday night. What happened was a completely different tale from my lunch. Given that the place is still new, I’ll give the service a free pass, but let’s just say it was a total fumble including messed up orders. A bunch of ‘wtf’ moments. Beyond those issues, the food was just OK. I mean, out of 4 people, only 2 liked their meals at all. My order, the skirt steak(served with a chickpea salad), was almost inedible. The meat was extremely fatty(yes, I know it’s a fatty cut, but I shouldn’t be spitting out chunks of fat) and the entire dish was served in a POOL of oil(pic). I was doing the ol’ ‘wipe the meat around the edge of the bowl’ for a bit to try to dry these suckers off. I just gave up after a while and left half of the meat on the plate. Not fun for a $ 30 dish. Another dinner fact is that the burger jumps from $ 15 to $ 21 and although it includes more toppings, you can’t choose any of them. It’s a $ 21 bacon cheese burger or bust. My friends were 50⁄50 on enjoying their burgs. To boot, my Moscow Mule was on the weak side. Delicious? Yes. But for double digits, I’d like to taste a bit of the sauce. Sorry to say but the positive momentum has been halted and I’ll wait a few months before stopping back into CG.

What a pleasure to have a chic cocktail spot with amazing food and even better staff in Long Island. After moving back to LI from the city we have been searching for a place with a great cocktail program with great food in an intimate but not stuffy atmosphere and Char Grille offers exactly that. The charred BBQ octopus was perfectly seared with amazing flavor, the fig was so amazing that my wife ordered it twice! I also had the filet mignon which rivals any place in manhattan, absolutely phenomenal! Make sure to go to the bar and let Frank suggest the perfect drink from his creative list.

Avoid this place at all costs! We waited an hour and a half for appetizers. They are not ready yet. They can’t handle any type of crowd right now. I asked for bread while we were waiting for our appetizers and they said they were too backed up to get us bread. Food was mediocre at best. Some things were ok. Maybe it will improve.

This place is great! If you love the excellent food and fantastic, friendly service at their other place(Doppio) next door, you won’t be disappointed by their new adventure in Americana Deliciousness! Beautiful breeze wafting in one direction through the place, and amazing food aromas in the other direction-you just can’t beat it, whether you eat at the bar and have a fun conversation with the barkeeps or outside and just enjoy a pretty summer night with your sweetie! Also, a lot of places in town have great signature drinks, but how about this… finally a special one just for the Designated Driver! Thanks for thinking of everything to make your guests feel right at home, Char! We’ll be back!

We always go to to DOPPIO(their restaurant right next door to Char)…so I was very excited to go to Char for dinner when they opened! Outdoor seating(so key in the village) Food was delicious. Plated beautifully and creatively. The tuna tar tar had some awesome crispy zucchini under it that added a perfect mix to it. I had scallops with a cauliflower purée that was perfection. I am so happy for them that they have 2 restaurants side by side with great staff, great booze, great food! This will be a regular spot for us for sure.
