The staff in this restaurant are the most disrespectful and rude people I have ever met. I just walked out of the restaurant and only paid for my soda. I went here with my two boys because they wanted Chinese and I live around the corner. My sons are 8 and 11. I asked how much it was for the children’s all you can eat sushi special. The waiter said it was the same price 19.95 as an adult. I noticed the menu on the bottom said kids 7 and under ½ price. Red flag number one, because I don’t tell him how old my boys are. The waiter came back and asked if we were ready ever 30 seconds, mind you the place is empty at 7:30 on Friday night. Each time he walked away the young waiter sighed and laughed. Red flag number two. When we ordered I told the waiter me and my 11would take all you can eat and my 8 year old will take one sushi roll from the menu. The friendly waiter said, no. When I asked what, he said everyone had to take the all you can eat special if one takes it. I told the waiter my 8 year old son won’t eat more than one roll and all I want to buy him is one. The roll is on the menu. Again the waiter said no. I asked if this crazy rule is posted and he just said no again. When I asked why I would pay 19.95 when my son only wants to eat one roll that’s on the menu for 5.95, the answer was a simple. The waiter said that’s the way it is. Finally I gave up trying to spend money and asked for my bill, I kindly paid 8.95 for the three drinks and left. The waiter had not a care in the world that a customer who wanted to spend 60 dollars in an empty restaurant walked out. I have read all the negative reviews about the service before I wrote this and I agree with everyone. As a consumer we have many place to chose from and I would recommend you keep driving past this restaurant.

Food is «average plus.» They recently eliminated their banquet«early bird,» which was great for seniors on a fixed income. We went often and the place was never more than one quarter full, so the change made little sense to us. They also eliminated the complementary wine with the banquet dinner. It was 6 oz. of a plain box wine that cost maybe 25 cents but was a nice touch. We won’t be going there much anymore, given all the new, more interesting places.

Horrible horrible horrible. Went at lunch time no one in the place. Their specials aren’t special and are expensive and the food tasted bland. Go to sushi 110 just down the road if you want good food and great service. The person that waited on us favorite word was NO. Had to add asked if you would like another soda then after your finished the soda tell you it extra. Horrible place DONOTGOHERE

I’d already given up on their sushi because the last time I ordered it looked like fishing bait that had been sitting out all day. Went back recently for the first time in a year with my mom and we both ordered Chinese. My mom’s shrimp was noticeably under cooked. I got double sauteed pork. It was tasty, but I was violently ill for the next 48 hours. Pretty certain I got full on food poisoning. Just stay away.

I used to come here all the time, but after tonight never again. I called to place an order for delivery. I ordered the 3 sushi rolls deal(which in fairness is a good deal) I usually just get regular sushi rolls but decided to get a hand roll as one of the three rolls instead. Before wrapping up my order, I simply wanted to double check and make sure the hand roll still allowed me the 3 rolls at 50% deal, I was pretty sure I got the deal but always like to make sure anyway so I asked«I just want to make sure, does the hand roll still allow me the sushi deal?» which was responded with«you want a free California roll AND free delivery?! This is not a charity» and then I was hung up on ! I did not ask for either the free California roll or a free delivery. First of all, I have been going there for years and already know the free California roll coupon cannot be combined with any other deals, so I gave up attempting to use it long ago. Second of all, I never asked for free delivery either. Their menu states they deliver for all orders over $ 25, which my order was(not by much, it was $ 26, but don’t make $ 25 your minimum if you refuse to deliver for that amount), also my house is literally a 3 minute drive from the restaurant, but then again, they didn’t even let me get to the point of stating my address. Even if I was mistaken or asking for either of these deals he thought I was asking for, the normal thing to do would be to tell me they don’t offer that and allow me to continue my order instead of hanging up on a potential customer. It’s sad because I actually liked their sushi and that they’re so close to my house, and I even sometimes ate there for their all you can eat sushi special, which I was always pretty happy with, but it’s hard to want to go back and give my money to a place ever again after being treated like that.

Amazing service and amazing food! I would recommend this place to everyone! They added an all you can eat menu where it’s sushi and Chinese food plus some Thai. They bring it all to you, very clean and the food comes out really fast! Love it!

Food is reliable, service is pretty good. I would recommend to anyone looking for something easy and fast. They have been around along time which says something these days.

The Wonton Egg drop Soup was hot & tasty, the noodle were large & crispy, slightly oily, the Egg Roll was good, we ordered General Chows Chicken, it was all dark meat, we asked for White meat and they brought us a new dish without any hesitation, the Sesame Shrimp was good. We ordered Roast Pork Fried Rice, it was good but kind of plain & slightly oily. The food was served hot, the waiter was extremely accommodating. Overall I give them 3.5STARS

Pretty decent. It was not dirty at all. The service was great and I really enjoyed the 2 for 1 Mai Tai’s. The sushi was pretty good… my boyfriend ordered the sesame shrimp which was a decent size plate as well as pretty large shrimp, however they were not crispy at all. Overall this place is pretty good, but not good enough for me to go back.

I came here to try the sushi and found a bug in our soy sauce. Thumbs down! We ate the sushi anyway. It seemed good. California roll, Boston roll, NY roll. Service was fine. Can’t get the bug out of my head.

I’ve always passed by this place. I recently noticed they opened up their menu to all you can eat sushi. So I decided to give it a try today. Before I would go all the way to Woodbury for that as there’s not any all you can eat sushi spots locally from what I’ve seen. I first went there at 3:30pm. They are closed from 3−5pm for lunch. So I came back at 5:30pm. I was seated right away as the place was empty, but had gotten three more sets of customers by the time I was halfway into my meal. I assumed they were not doing good business as there are hardly any cars/customers in their parking lot. However it seems most of their money intake is coming from take out/delivery orders. The customer service was fine. There were only three people working there tonight and I found no issues with them. Some people on here had reported bad customer service, but I did not see that tonight. Their dining room was spotless also! I ordered a few things such as the White Dragon Roll and California Crunchy Roll which has eel in it. It tasted pretty good. I’m not quite good with comparing the quality of the fish versus other places, but overall most of what I had tasted good. I had the Kani Salad. It smelled a bit funny, but tasted fine. I also tried the Spicy Girl Roll. It was a bit mushy, like the White Dragon Roll. This specific roll was fried, so I’m not sure I would try that again. I’m glad there’s something right by me for a change for all you can eat sushi. These types of sushi options are very hard to come by on the island from what I’ve seen. I definitely recommend it once for anyone who wants to try all you can eat. If you’re particular on taste, there might be better spots out there, but not under all you can eat I’m sure.

A new(to me) all you can eat menu(including huge variety of sushi, classic Chinese, and Thai favorites) + family and friends who love a good deal and are(almost) as perpetually hungry as I am = Trouble! They won’t let you go all Homer Simpson and eat the place out of business(two hour limit!!) but it’s good quality, reasonably priced Asian fusion. Definitely something for everyone!

Just updating my review to over a year ago and Dragon Gate was good again tonight for take out. Seems a lot of folks are judging based on the sushi which I have not tried. And frankly, have no desire since there are too many Japanese sushi restaurants around. I’ve only had their Chinese dishes so far still so good. Tonight we had shrimp with lobster sauce, moo shoo pork which was delicious and steamed shrimp with broccoli. In the past I’ve had their shrimp toast which was yummy and their wonton soup. Egg rolls are the usual, nothing fancy. I’ve also had their orange beef on nights I’m «cheating» on my diet which was excellent. Maybe Dragon Gate is getting a bad rap because they try to tackle too many cuisines? What do they say? Jack of all trades, master of none? That’s probably the problem here. But in this girls humble opinion, they’ve got the Chinese aspect down. So stick with that like me and you’ll be back when the cravings hit.

I don’t generally post reviews, but this restaurant is AWFUL I just have to say some something. Customer service is non-existent here, and the food is below average. In fact, the waiter was flat out rude. We sat down for all-you-can-eat sushi. We got the menus, and they didn’t even ask us whether we wanted any drinks! This older waiter comes for our orders, and I asked for two orders of shrimp tempura appetizer for my dad and I(two shrimp with each order, so he and I would get two shrimp each) and my mom separately asked for another order of shrimp tempura. The waiter takes it on himself to tell me I can only place one order and tells me I can get more later. Okay, I was shocked, but kept quiet. Then he goes on to my dad, and my dad asks for gyoza and shrimp tempura roll. And then before my dad was able to finish speaking, he literally says«okay, i’ll be back later» and walks away to place the orders he had gotten. At that point my whole family stared at each other in shock, trying wrap our heads around what just happened. After I saw him drop off the list of orders at the counter, I got his attention again and asked him to come back. Then I asked him how come he walked away in the middle of the order when my dad was clearly mid-sentence to order another roll. Then he tells us «you can order later». Why would we want to order later, when it’s an all-you-can-eat place, and we clearly haven’t ordered enough food to feed three people?! We were trying to order two rolls for each person, ’cause we know we will eat at least that much! Okay. so here comes the food. Shrimp tempura floating on grease and sub-par sushi. And no surprise at all, our impatient waiter got my dad’s order AND my mom’s order WRONG! Instead of gyoza, my dad got a godzilla roll. My mom didn’t even get the shrimp tempura roll she requested. How can someone be SO incompetent?! I have NEVER had such a poor experience. He wasn’t just incompetent, he was flat out rude to my family and I. Also the dishes /cups were not clean either, needs to be rinsed off better. I have been to another all-you-cat-eat sushi restaurant on long island called Sushi village, and had a totally awesome experience. They had at least some average sushi and good customer service. Dragon gate is the worst restaurant I have been to in a long time, in fact, I don’t recall having such a poor experience at a restaurant ever in my life.

This review is regarding the take out sushi I ordered,(3 salmon & avocado rolls), the worst I have ever had. I only ate 2 pieces out of the 18. It just wasn’t fresh, very chewy, and smelled very fishy. I have never been to Dragon Gate before and the restaurant had a very damp odor inside as I waited for my order. This is not a place for me.

Let me start by saying that a phone call to the restaurant about my gripe which was met with apathy was followed by an email to management, which, after a week, still hasn’t been answered. So I gave them a chance to make good before posting this, and they blew it. So here goes… We love our regular Chinese take-out from another local place that has never let us down, but we decided to try this place for a change last week since we had a 20% coupon good for take-out only. What we ordered was satisfactory, standard good quality Chinese food, though nothing to rave about — let’s say about a 3.5 star. Our experience with the service, however, was less than satisfactory, including having apparently been overcharged with no offer of compensation. When we called to order, I told the man who answered that we were looking at the menu and were thinking of ordering a vegetable dish and a bean curd dish in brown sauce, to share, but he said«do you want bean curd WITH vegetables together in brown sauce?» I said«Oh, I don’t see that on the menu,» and he said he knew that but they could make it. I said that would be great, and in that case I’d take one order of that. He asked«small or large,» and since I was ordering for two, to share, I said large. In addition, we ordered a large bean curd and cabbage soup plus two veggie egg rolls to round out our dinner. When we went to pick it up, the food was hot and bagged up and waiting for us. We happily paid and went home. When we got home, we found we had a VERY small container of the bean curd with vegetables, and no receipt. I called and spoke to the same guy to let him know we were given the wrong size and thus were overcharged. He insisted I ordered a small but that I could go back and he’d give us a large — for $ 4 more. Mind you, he spoke good English, so there was no language barrier to cut slack for. I pointed out to him that we had not been given a receipt, and asked him to go over the charges with me, but he said«You can look at the menu I put in the bag to see the prices of what you ordered.» I said«How can I see what the charge is for the dish you offered us if it’s not on the menu?» and asked for the price of that dish. He curtly repeated that I could look at the menu for prices but he was not going to go over the prices with me by phone. And then there was silence. I said I would not be going back to his restaurant and he said«OK,» and that was the end of the conversation. I thought to myself«Well, they have my phone number, so surely we’ll hear back from a manager.» We never heard back from anyone. So let’s do some math. The soup was $ 6.95 and the veggie rolls were $ 2.15 each times 2, which equals $ 11.25. We paid about $ 17.50 total after the 20% discount and added tax, so that would bring the price for the small container of bean curd and vegetables to $ 9, which is over a dollar more than the other small-sized dishes in the vegetarian section of the menu. That small appetizer-sized container was worth nowhere near $ 9, and no other Chinese restaurant on Long Island would charge that amount for any small-sized vegetable dish. So, to summarize: 1) The order was not taken correctly 2) We were not given a receipt and then refused receipt review by phone 3) We were clearly overcharged for what was supposed to be our main entrée 4) We were offered no fair resolution to the employee’s mistake I’m a reasonable guy, but after service like that, I certainly will never go back here. This place obviously has a horrendous service ethic and will never get another penny of my money. Wish this had turned out differently and I didn’t have to post this.

This was pure vomit with the most evil waitress ever created by man, god or beast. I think the broccoli was found in a dumpster and cooked up with to hide the foulness. My least favorite meal ever.

Only been to Dragon Gate for business lunches. They would get only 1 star from me for quality of food, but the 2nd bonus star comes from the quantity of food you get for so little money. Greasy, overly sauced entrées. Greasy pork fried rice(but at times, tasty). Lunch specials include a soup, egg drop or wonton. The wonton is okay. Someone mentioned dishes weren’t clean. Yes, and sometimes the dishes are chipped and broken too! Portions are fair. I get shrimp there sometimes and you usually get 7 or 8 medium sized shrimp. Probably the best thing here is the hot tea and fried noodles, all freebies.

My family(party of 7 adults) all met here due to its location, and had a mediocre Chinese/Japanese meal with sketchy service and sub-par food served on ill-washed dishes –several of which needed to be send back.(Dirty dinner plates and glasses) Safest food — edamame Grossest — Lo Mein — a greasy mess I don’t live near here — so I will never return but I have a feeling my relatives who live in Syossett(I can never spell that right) and Commack probably won;t either. YICK! It’s a shame, too because the restaurant itself is spacious and nice looking. Wish they’d wash the dishes!
