Pullman Plaza Hotel

This hotel is so outdated and dingy — spend your money elsewhere! We would have left to go to the holiday inn but they were booked. We were on the non smoking floor but the extra blanket and pillow they gave us (since they only provide 3 small pillows) smelled like smoke. The bed spread looks like it’s from the 70’s and probably hasn’t been washed in years. Also the blanket under the spread had so many holes in it, as did the shower curtain and drapes. The gross wallpaper was also pealing in many places. Unfortunately the bed is also so uncomfortable. I didn’t like one thing about the hotel, except the staff was pleasant and friendly. This hotel has potential due to the fact that it is so close to pullman square. There are great places to eat there, as well as cute shops. They just need a major renovation!

When I made my reservation on line, it stated that we would get 2 free cocktails and a cooked breakfast. that was a lie. When I complained, the reaction was «sorry» with no regret. I should sue for false advertising.

Breaking news check out the remodeling at Pullman Plaza Hotel Lobby redone, new lighting, paint, marble floors waxed. Two suites being remodeled on second floor at this time and the fourth floor has new paint new lighting and no bedspreads.

It’s «use by» date is pretty near unless they do a major refurb.
Beds were like boards.
Everything else except the above was great: staff were friendly, rooms were quiet and clean, amenities were appropriate.

Warm and helpful staff but bedding needs updating. Horribly hard, flat pillows. Asked to switch them out for softer ones but it was replaces by two more hard-​as-​rock pillows that were somewhat higher (awful for your neck). Bedding outdated… Polyester bedspread circa 1989. Tube TV. Bathroom clean but caulk starting to show signs of wear. No mini fridge or microwave. Just a so-​so experience. Very nice front desk staff. Read about complimentary drinks from other Unilocal reviewer but that was not happening or offered when I was here. Great location. Closest hotel to Marshall Univ. I believe. Can’t comment on breakfast but it looked very bountiful. Air conditioner or heating unit is a little loud. One elevator broken, Older hotel that needs some updating. Wifi works fine and is complimentary.

Positives:
The room was nice, clean, very spacious. Large comfortable bathroom. Excellent downtown location. Good free breakfast in the restaurant. Free coffee in the lobby.
Negatives:
The gym had broken outdated equipment. The hotel was not on the water, or really overlooking the water — but 2 blocks away. No in room fridge or microwave.

Gets three stars because I experienced no major problems. Doesn’t get higher, because it is in need of renovation. It’s like an old lady who doesn’t know that she has lost her beauty.
Generally OK service. Some better than others.
PROS: Location is centrally located to Arena, Marshall, Riverfront, Restaurants, etc.
PROS: Free Valet Parking, Free Buffet Breakfast
CONS: Run down. Kind of gross carpet in my room. (Didn’t want to walk in bare feet).
CONS: Free Buffet Breakfast is Free, but nothing to get excited about. Cold, Dark dining room. Server never came back to offer more coffee (but was sure to tell us that gratuity wasn’t included in the free breakfast)
PROS: Free Wi-​Fi
CONS: Didn’t always work well.
PROS: Pool on site (didn’t use)
CONS: Only one working elevator during my 3 day visit. Strangely, you are not able to use the stairs to go between floors. You can only go to the first floor. With 200+ rooms and only one working elevator, it was very inefficient to visit friends/​family on other floor just one floor below mine.
I understand that this is a Radisson affiliated hotel. I’m sure it is a francise, but Radisson should insist on upgrades or de-​flag it. It is what I would expect out of an inferior hotel brand.
Unfortunately, not sure if there is anything much better in Huntington than this hotel. Most of the other hotels were either further away or limited service.

I’m floored. EVERYBODY knows you don’t go to a hotel Sunday buffet for good food. You go to a hotel Sunday buffet because you can’t get in anywhere where the good food is. My expectations were pretty low, but Chef is the husband of a friend, so we went. Holy Smoke! This is excellent! This is beyond excellent. You must go there. Go now. Don’t wait for Sunday. They might get hit by lightning, and you’d hate yourself for the rest of your life if you miss this.

The staff are accommodating and generous with extra complimentary products, i.e. coffee, grooming products. Stayed on thanksgiving day, so wasn’t able to check out their food or drinks during the afternoon or evening.
I must comment positively on the complimentary breakfast in the morning — was delicious. Hot foods served included bacon, ham, hash brown potatoes, biscuits n sausage gravy; eggs (looked instant? I didn’t want to try). Cold items included various flavored yogurts and a wide selection of fruit, i.e. watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, grapes, bananas. 4 kinds of cereal were offered. I don’t know if there were bagels. Beverages were coffee (watered down :/​— perhaps this was a fluke?), white and chocolate milk, orange juice. They had muffins, blueberry I think. Optional gluten/​allergen free muffins available, but didn’t look too appetizing due to their slightly burnt appearance.
The room was well stocked and clean. Guest soap/​shampoo/​lotion were made by Bath n Body works. I liked their instant coffee machine. The staff even gave me extra coffee upon request. Their pool looked closed, but it is super cold in November. Valet is complimentary and they do accept tips. The cost of room is $ 119.
I would stay here again. It is close to the movie theatre, some shopping, restaurants and pubs.

My wife and I just spent the weekend here for a reunion of my fraternity at Marshall U. First of all the hotel is nicer inside than it looks on the outside. The staff was super friendly. There is a full breakfast buffet that’s free to guests and guests also get one free drink per night in the hotel bar. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the beds are comfortable. While I can’t really call this a luxury hotel, it was a very pleasant stay and I would stay there again.

This is a terrific hotel. I mainly wanted a nice place to stay in the downtown area while I was visiting family and friends for a few days over Memorial Day weekend, and this place really exceeded my expectations. The room was top-​notch and world-​class, with a great ninth-​floor view of the city below and the mighty Ohio River. It’s conveniently located to many businesses downtown, and offers a clean, comfortable and affordable respite. I didn’t use the free valet parking service but was impressed that it was offered. I did have breakfast Sunday morning (included in the room price), and it well met my expectations.

I had a wonderful experience here.
I had to travel to WV for a wedding. I was a brides maid and this hotel was recommended by the bride. We drove 500 miles in 10 hrs through snow and the valet guy convinced us to allow them to park the car and bring our stuff in free of charge.
The front desk staff was wonderful! They allowed us to check in early in spite of the HUGE biker conference they had a block of rooms dedicated to. When I ran into a dress emergency the manager offered their driver and van to us free of charge. The driver stayed with us for as long as it took to get our situation fixed.
They offered complimentary drinks at their bar each night and complimentary FULL breakfast each morning, including the mourning we left and checked in.
The only downside was the biker that OD’ed in the elevator, but that had nothing to do with the staff or the actual hotel.

I’m so disappointed with this place. My husband and I were hoping for a romantic New Year’s getaway, but we spent a good part of New Year’s Eve trying to fix a mixup with our room reservation. We reserved a room with a king sized bed and whirlpool bath a month ago, and were stuck in a standard room with two double beds and tiny bathroom. The front desk people were very rude when we tried to get a resolution to the problem, and fed us a bunch of B.S. like, «those rooms were booked months ago — you can’t get them through Travelocity,» and «a reservation doesn’t guarantee a specific room, only that you’ll have a room here on that date.» They wouldn’t even give us a refund or even a discount!
As we were leaving, we were informed by another guest that he reserved a king/​jacuzzi room the day before and got one. Booked up months ago? I think not.
The parking situation at the hotel is insane, too. The hotel has a huge parking building attached to it, but it doesn’t belong to the hotel, so you have this ridiculous valet parking situation. You HAVE to valet park your car, and it takes a while to get it if you want to leave the hotel, especially if it’s around check-​in time.
The location is nice, though. There is a lot to do in this part of Huntington. It’s too bad that the hotel is not so accomodating. I will never stay there again, nor would I recommend it to anyone.
