Not exactly what I was expecting from the reviews. The «homemade noodles and such were all packaged»

Bowen’s Grocery has been around since ’29 and offers fresh meats, poultry, seafood, groceries, a full service deli, as well as some local/​handmade specialty gifts. The deli is located in the rear of the grocery, and they have daily lunch specials, breakfast options, soups, hot/​cold subs, sandwiches, salads, wraps, burgers, side items (such as potato salad, cole slaw, macaroni salad, etc.), and desserts, all made from scratch and homemade. The hubs tried their Egg Salad sandwich on white, and I tried their homemade Banana Pudding — the egg salad sandwich, while generously piled within the slices of bread, was a bit underwhelming, as it was bland and seemed like chopped up deviled eggs. I really enjoyed the Banana Pudding, however — ever-​so-​slightly sweeter than the usual, but the pudding itself had a great banana flavor, large slices of fresh bananas, and mini vanilla cookies (available in ½ or a 1lb container, but they weight it, so feel free to request the amount you prefer). Service was super friendly, and the spot seems to be a favorite among the locals for carry-​out during the lunch rush. There are some cool handcrafted wooden kitchen utensils from PA up at the front by the cashier, so be sure to check them out. I’d like to come back and try out their deli sandwiches as well as their sides the next time!

Great Deli and county store. It is fun to wander through, candy, local seafood, meats and very nice staff.

My favorite place for a quick sandwich to go. This place is an awesome little country store/​gas station with all your basic pantry essentials plus a selection of fresh fruits, veggies, dairy, candy section all in one. They sell locally grown produce, honey, crabs, and locally made crafts, etc. and make the best homemade sandwiches in the county! I highly recommend their BBQ Pork Special with macaroni salad or their BLT or Club sandwiches.

We have stopped for their oysters on several occasions and they are always fresh, briny and delicious. Today, when purchasing our quart of oysters my husband and I decided to share a 12 inch Italian Sub. And what a sub it was! The meat was about 2 inches thick on a nice crusty roll. It was a meal for $ 8.00 and put Subway and Firehouse Subs to shame. The hand cut meats looked so fresh and tempting. I know my husband was just about drooling over the New York Strip steaks. Other items of interest are homemade noodles, an assortment of hard to find candies and some of the friendliest people around!

Been coming here since I was a kid, and though it hasn’t been as frequent since I moved out of the area this place is still thriving in the county. The service always comes with a smile, and it’s the kind of place you don’t mind coming to spend your money.
The store is always well stocked, and I have never had any complaints on the quality of the merchandise. The deli sandwiches that are prepared in the back of the store are very good, and not badly priced. It’s amazing how this place has stood the test of times, and has been able to modernize itself, without losing its down home feel. If you in the area, you should definitely check it out.

Quaint little place that has a good butcher. Hey, it is a place where you can stop, get a pack of smokes, some meat for the grill, and fill up your gas tank IN ONE PLACE. It feels like you are definitely in small town America when you walk into this place.
In all seriousness, the meats are pretty good and the service is very personable. It’s almost midway between the two Walmarts so I’m sure they do a fair amount of business. If you are local, you are happy to have a mom and pop place like this near you. I’m using the word ‘near’ relatively. The closest retail to me is this place and it’s still a 10 minute drive.

Try the peppered bacon– YUM!

Quaint little store reminds me of childhood summers. Lunch was delicious and everyone was friendly. I’ll be back to try breakfast.

Another poster mentioned that this store is a dying breed, and I too agree LOVE this store! I was raised in a small midwest town and these are the kind of stores that I remember. I’m so very happy that my children get a taste of this small town country store. This is a great little store and I happen to live at the other end of the street, it’s very convenient to pick up items and they have a wide variety of bulk items.
The meat and deli items are always great and reasonably priced. I would hate for Huntingtown to get any bigger.

Bowen’s Grocery is a dying breed. I love this little grocery, with its butcher and hand dipped Hershey ice cream counter. The areas best cut meats. Friendly service and a feeling of being ‘home’. The Bowen continues to give back to the community. Thank you!!!

Great meats! Best bacon and stuffed pork chops.

I really like Bowen’s grocery, makes me feel like the small town feeling hasn’t completely been lost. Plus, they have great Hershey’s ice cream for hot summer days.

Nice little store in Huntingtown. I like their deli counter and butcher shop — local fresh meat, the roasted chickens are great, local eggs and vegetables. Over the summer the sweet corn from here was super delicious! Nice selection of Hershey’s ice cream. It’s a cute little store, I wish it was at the end of my street!

I generally only trust micro-​grocers for their fresh foods and Bowen’s is no exception. Good for sandwiches and lunch meat, but keep driving if you’re looking for a wide selection of packaged goods. Parking is also a bit tight.

Bowen’s makes great sandwiches and the prepared foods are delicious. They have good meat, and a rather surprising selection of grocery items for such a small store. Fresh produce and flowers are usually available.
