Able’s

I searched all over the country for a hard to find Sig and sent out emails to over 50 gun shops asking for their assistance in locating one. I even offered to pay above the shops normal retail if anyone was successful in locating my Sig.
I received a call from Seth at Able’s to say that he had the difficult to find gun I was looking for. Seth was very professional and friendly. He assisted me in placing my order and set up next day shipment to my local FFL smoothly and without any snags! He even refused the bonus I had offered the first shop to find this gun!
From my experience I would not hesitate to recommend Seth and Able’s to any of my friends.

I have visited Able’s Guns in Huntsville, Texas approximately 10 times within the last year.
I rate the store with a 3 star rating or «Fair» rating.
First, the Pros:
1. Good selection of on the shelf ammo with good corresponding prices. I have bought ammo from this store and probably will do so again.
2. Good to very good selection to medium to higher-​end bolt action rifles and shotguns.
3. Good selection on riflescopes.
4. Some friendly staff willing to wait on you and answer your questions. The young man from South Dakota (?) is very customer friendly and helpful.
5. The store is orderly, clean, and well laid out. Not junky.
And now the Cons:
Some very unfriendly staff that do not want to wait on you, answer your questions, or give you the time of day. When I go into any gun store, I have a very short list on what I want to buy, see, or feel. I don’t have the time to «bum around» and bother the store employees with a bunch of bull crap questions, war stories, or offer my opinions on what gun maker or bullet type or grain of bullet is better than another. The last visit involved me wanting to see a Sako Grey Wolf and/​or Bavarian. The fellow that did wait on me didn’t give a damn about my questions involving ordering the caliber of rifle I wanted. I’ll now order that Sako Grey Wolf from Euro Optic out of Pennsylvania. I had near the same experience about a year ago when dealing with a young red-​headed female employee when asking about a Leupold VX-​6. Optics Planet got my business and that scope sets now upon my Weatherby Mark V.
Bottom line: Able’s is ok for small ticket items but looks to be a more miss than hit when dealing with the sales help on the bigger ticket items in the store.

Surprised by the low ratings. I live nearby and come to Ables at least every weekend. Everyone there has been very friendly, welcoming and not judgmental about anyone’s level of knowledge.
Ammo selection is great and prices are competitive in my opinion. They have a petty good selection of firearms to, a little of everything from traditional to tactical to competition to collectors. Good assortment of gun safes too.
For a smaller town far from Houston I’m happy to have ables here. Better than Academy and way better than Walmart.

We had a great day shooting at Able“s today. My dad and I had been waiting for this for quite a while. We booked our instructor through the office and had a fantastic time. We shot with Zachary Klienbaum and he was awesome. His approach is positive and he is an overall great guy to shoot with. My shooting skills are enhanced because of his positive approach to instruction and coaching. My dad had a great time and has the same positive comments. The facility was spacious, not crowded, and the store had everything that anyone might need for shooting plus endless amounts of new guns for purchase. Ammo was the least I’ve ever paid. I’ll make it a point to go back next time I am in Texas.

I attempted to return a defective Pro-​Mag rifle magazine I purchased form Able‘s ammo. The magazine jammed on the first shot. It came with a LIFETIME warranty.
Since I had heard some bad reviews concerning the ProMag magazine, I just wanted to exchange it and pay $ 22.00 more for a factory magazine. They even told me I could return it if it didn‘t work,
Since I did not have the receipt they told me there was nothing they could do except for me to send it to the factory and pay all shipping costs.
I went home and looked thru my receipts and noticed that the only receipts with individual items listed were with gun purchases. All the other receipts from Abel‘s had no individual items on them so a receipt would have done me no good.
I was trying to spend money with them but I guess customer service and common sense is a thing of the past.

Poor service and over priced. Shipping is pure profit maker.

Careful, they will sell a gun out from under you after accepting your payment. My wife tried to order me a Browning Citori that they had on sale on their website. She purchased online, payment was accepted, order confirmation received and was just pending her getting the FFL transfer info to them. Almost 48 hours after purchase, Able’s contact her and informed her the gun was no longer available. My guess is someone walked in with cash in hand. Our credit card still shows the pending payment even though the cancellation email clearly said it would be voided. When she pressed them on the issue, they offered her an alternate Citori but with no discount. (the original gun was on sale and reduced by $ 500 from MSRP) It almost appears to be a bait & switch. Definitely not the way to do business and not what I’d expect from fellow Texans.

Ordered ammo from them and 24 hours later got an email stating that they needed to verify my credit card number. No call, and the email came on a Saturday, and they are closed on Saturday. Needed some of the stuff I was ordering the next Friday, but unless I called them back and paid for faster shipping I imagine that won’t be happening. Yeah they have good prices, but their ordering system is screwed up. Was going to call them on Tuesday and spend $ 3k on shotguns, but obviously that won’t be happening now.
Will never do business again.

Ordered some accessories for my M&P 15 and they shipped everything fast and at a great price. Customer service was excellent in providing order updates and answering my questions as well. Great shop!
