Dickey’s Barbecue Pit

Don’t go to the drive through. They usually only have two or three people working, and the drive through appears to be the last thing anyone thinks about, even when there’re no customers in line inside and more than one car outside. You can sit at the box and watch them go about their business as if you weren’t there, when you are clearly visible.
Otherwise the food’s decent.

With the exception of one time, every time I order chopped beef to go with extra fat mixed in so it doesn’t dry out if I need to re-​heat it, I get home with chopped beef without any fat in it. Not everyone is fond of extra lean brisket. What one or two sides I’ve had besides chips are just ok. I’ve had better.

Best road side BBQ in Huntsville, can’t beat the convenience and cleanliness. We had pulled pork, pork ribs, brisket, and jalapeño sausage. There were no leftovers, and the kids loved the free ice cream. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting good BBQ on the drive between Dallas and Houston.

We have stopped here two other times in the past year… Knew we were going to have time to stop so of course we wanted it for dinner… They had never disappointed us before
They are located in the one truck stop right beside another truck stop which is a quick walk over… Lots of truck trailer parking
We always get it to go… We also always get the family meal so we have leftovers for lunch and dinner the next day…
As usual they did not disappoint us tonight
Got pulled pork and brisket 1 lb each, potato salad, Cole slaw and Jalapeño beans with rolls (family meal)
They have three types of BBQ sauce… Regular, mustard base, and spicy
Got all three… Love to mix an match
They also gave us containers of pickles and onions
Place is really clean but we always get our food to go when we have been driving 14 hours… Staff is very friendly and attentive
Meats are always very flavorful, moist and tender… Rolls were hot an soft
Potato salad is outta this world. The Cole slaw is awesome and the jalapeño beans are not too hot just spicy right
I lived in Texas for years and for a chain restaurant I must say this is one of the best
We eat at restaurants of all kinds all over the US so I have a lot to compare it to
Would stop here again when in the area for sure !!
A must try if your in the area an love BBQ

I’ve eaten at Dickeys in Dallas for past 30 years. Was heading south to Houston and found a location in Huntsville.
This is a horrible example of the excellent barbecue and service I’ve always experienced at a Dickeys.
Bun was hard and cold. Meat was flavorless. Mac and cheese tasted like it was made last week. Staff is inattentive and place is filthy. Took pic of ice cream machine that staff member has walked by 3 times. Don’t stop at this one if you’re hungry for good barbecue.
