Beware of rude staff. I have been to Bicycles Etc. several times to keep the family’s bikes going. On previous visits I have bought a rim, a seat, tubes, mirrors, a bottle of bicycle cleaner, and paid to have a rim trued. Everything went well enough and I thought I was treated fine, but there was one fellow there I hadn’t met. This week I dropped off a rim to have the bearings adjusted, and when I returned 2 days later to pick it up I was basically accosted by a skinny, middle-aged balding fellow.(Who apparently has much authority there since several other employees just stood idly by without reprimanding him.) And he ever-so-rudely proceeded to tell me how fortunate I was that he didn’t, «throw my rim into the trash». Puzzled, and caught completely off guard, I replied, «why would you do that?» He then told me with a very bad attitude that, «he wasn’t running a storage business for used bicycle rims» and accused me of dropping off my rim and, «disappearing». He put on this incredible display of audacity right in front of a store full of customers, at least one of which reacted towards me afterwards with a look of disbelief at what she had just witnessed. Actually, I had dropped off the rim and told the fellow who had helped me that I had a doctors appointment and would be back later to pick it up. This seemed okay to him, and if it wasn’t he didn’t say anything. Besides, who would have guessed you couldn’t drop off something for repair at a repair shop and return to pick it up in 2 days? Weird. Just weird. And unbelievably rude. Without a doubt one of the most insulting experiences of my 50+ years. No more than 3 stars even though the work was fine and the price was very reasonable. UPDATE: JOHN P — It is respectable of you to reply. For some reason the messaging feature won’t let me respond. From memory, I say I dropped off the rim on the 10th of June, returned and received my public tongue-lashing on the 12th, and wrote this review on the 13th.

Out of the six shops in town, this is by far my favorite. Helpful and knowledgeable service every time I’ve been in. They carry mainly Trek line bicycles, but work on any brand. I appreciate that they carry a wide range of road, mountain, and commuter/touring bicycles and gear. I’ve brought in my bikes for servicing or repairs and usually get them back within a day or two. They were most helpful when I recently went on a bike tour in helping me get all the gear necessary, ordering what they did not normally stock. They also boxed my bike up for shipping and were accommodating in putting it back together when I shipped it back to the shop after my tour. They get busy(as most bike shops do) in the warmer months, so you may have to wait longer if it’s a busy day, but if you have a little patience they’ll usually be able to get you on your way.

Boo Bicycle Etc. On a seven day bike trip and two in our group needed a quick emergency repair to keep biking. Shop guys said it would be seven days until they could get to it. We asked if we could borrow the tool and do the repair ourselves but they said no. We asked if we could buy the tool but none were available. So in order to continue our trip we went down the road to Bicycle Cove and had the bikes fixed in 10 minutes.
