Visiting the grandparents, who are eager to do anything to help our toddler burn off his energy, especially after the long car ride, we were looking for a splash pad. Google search turned up the Everybody Can Play playground and(free!) splash pad. Located on the north side of the park, just off Drake, is a spacious playground and splash pad. On a warm July morning, there were a dozen or so folks hanging around the splash pad, with mostly parents at the edges and mostly kids in the sprinklers themselves. As with all things in Huntsville, some of the sprinklers are styled to look like planets around the sun(though not in order and not anywhere close to being accurate). There are also dump buckets, water guns, and all sorts of fountains to run through. The splash pad is open every day from 10am until dusk with the exception of Tuesday, when it closes at 5:30pm for maintenance and doesn’t open until 11am on Wednesday. The fountains were flowing almost continuously for the hour that we were there, though they will stop if the sensors aren’t activated for a while to conserve the water. There are several picnic areas nearby. There’s one adjoining the playground and splashpad, with connected bathrooms(decent for being at a public space in the summer), can be reserved and it has at least a dozen picnic tables. There’s plenty of parking, even lots of it in the shade.
