Sat in the bar area for a late lunch. While the food and service was great, the décor is a little dated and it was really dark in the bar area. I found myself squinting and I’m in my mid-20’s. I had the Short ribs and it was cooked perfectly. I substituted a side for the corn cheese grits, which are amazing! The green beans were cooked perfectly and tasted great. The short ribs are a great portion which will keep you full! We also had the pork chop, it was huge! We had it cooked medium well. It was seasoned well, flavorful, and juicy. I would have given it 5 stars if I could see.

Very well prepared food. A classy place for a special evening. Covered patio and outdoors seating. Everything we got was delicious: lobster bisque, house salad, Grouper Oscar, Crab cake, wild mushroom risotto. Tip: get gift cards from Costco.

We had the crab cakes and mushroom risotto which were excellent. The cocktails and Blue Pants pale ale were excellent, as well. For desert, try the chocolate soufflé, perfect. I should also mention that the interior design and aquarium are impressive. Last, but not least, it is quiet and private.

Enjoyed two super great evenings with the same 10 person group two nights in a row. Mix of friends and work associates, several from Chicago. We ate at Grill29 and the Bottle. Everyone unanimously agreed that Grill 29 had the best service, ambience, cocktails, and especially food. Many bites were shared including the fillet, short ribs, salmon and the pork chop. All were exquisite, hot and uniquely flavored. A great dining experience. Our waiter, David, was always attending, but never intrusive.

Absolutely delicious. I had the best grouper I have ever had and I always get grouper every time I visit the south. My husband said his fish and chips were seasoned perfect. We hope to go again when we return to visit our daughter.

We have eaten at Grille 29 on various occasions, most recently with a group of 5. The service has always been excellent and this was no exception. Our server was friendly, efficient, courteous and all of the meals were served as ordered. She was always available to help but not intrusive. One of the luncheon specials on the day we ate there was swordfish. It was cooked perfectly. It was tender and moist, and the sauce was an excellent accent. The green beans and mixed vegetables were also cooked to that they were still crunchy and well seasoned. The sandwiches have always been well prepared and the french fries cooked to a golden brown and not overdone. For those with a craving for a salad, they can be large but the lettuce and vegetables have always been fresh. The atmosphere is similar to an upscale steak house. It is comfortable, a little dark for more atmosphere and the furnishings match the overall ambiance. An excellent place for a romantic evening or a business meeting – good food, good service and a pleasant atmosphere. Prices are quite reasonable for the quality of the food and service.

Lisa and I had our wedding reception at Grille 29 in November 2015 and it was an incredible experience. The food was simply outstanding, as was the service. Each person had their choice from a menu consisting of 2 salads, 2 soups, 4 entrees and 4 desserts. I had the Kale salad, which was fantastic and quite different than any other salad that I’ve had. It had a champagne vinagrette. The Lobster Bisque was to die for, and included a tablespoon of lobster. I had the Surf and Turf — 8 oz Filet Mignon and Grilled Shrimp with a twice baked potato and it had to be the best steak I ever had. And I finished off the evening with a Peanut Butter Truffle that was delicious. We were so full that no one had any room left to eat the Gigi’s Cupcakes we had bought in lieu of a wedding cake. When one thinks of fancy food, they often think of tiny portions. That was not the case during our wedding reception! While it’s certainly not the cheapest place — the dinner cost $ 65/person, it was fantastic. All 22 people at the dinner had a wonderful time and raved about the food. No one had a single complaint/item returned. We were seated in the exterior portion of the restaurant. Since it’s not actually IN the restaurant, it was very intimate and quiet. But it was well lit and heated so it was very comfortable.

Was here recently for my birthday with my wife. The setting is definitely set to feel more upscale. But I didn’t feel out of place in jeans and work polo. We sat inside at a booth and had more than enough room on each side. The waiter was attentive and but not too much. I had the steak and grits. I ordered the steak medium rare. It was a little too done for my taste, but everything else was good. We expected it to be a little more expensive, so we were OK with the prices. But expect to drop some green here!

My husband and I visited for our first date night after moving to the area. The food was good but pricey and our waitress was excellent. I don’t think we would have a problem going again with others if they suggested it but it wouldn’t be our first choice for date night.

I wanna thank Grille 29 for making our 18th Wedding Anniversary dinner so special. This was my first time dining at Grille 29 and it did not disappoint. I made a reservation and when we showed up they immediately took us to our table which had a envelope with a card and something complimentary I can’t remember but I thought this was very thoughtful. My NY Strip was good however the few negatives are that my wild rice was undercooked and the Gorgonzola sauce that was on top of my wife’s steak was crumbled on top not necessarily melted which overwhelmed the flavor of her steak. But overall good experience, great friendly service and nice atmosphere. Only thing that kept it at a four star rating was a couple of side dishes that IMO weren’t prepared correctly.

This place was great! They had the best calamari we had tried! My husband got the Tuscan chicken which was really good and crispy with cheese grits and French fries. I got the specialty of the day, rosemary salmon with red potatoes and asparagus. For dessert, we got chocolate cake and ice cream. Everything was delicious! We have no complaints about anything. The service was excellent, restrooms were clean and very nice! Great place for a date!

I came here as part of a pretty big group so my experience in terms of service and such will be slightly different, but the food was still the same. I thought the food was great. I had the lobster bisque to start with which was delicious. Nice cognac flavour in the soup and a good portion. I also had the salad 29 which was good. For my entrée, I got the filet which also came with four shrimp. The filet had a demi-glacé and the shrimp had what basically seemed like melted butter on them. It came with mashed potatoes(which were a little bland in parts but still pretty good, very creamy) and asparagus. The filet itself was cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and amazing. I loved it. The shrimp were good, too. For dessert, I got the raspberry truffle cake. Soooo good. Chocolate truffle cake with raspberry mouse, chocolate ganache and a delicious raspberry coulis, as well as a garnish of a pretty decorative piece of chocolate on top. In terms of what’s to offer and for the price, I’d say Ruth’s Chris is better, but this was still really good. The service was great though. Nice atmosphere.

Went here as a group of 6. I had never been before, but my wife and I just moved to providence so we wanted to give it a try. The service was good and quick, and the food was pretty good. I got the«fillet 29» which is a fillet wrapped in bacon and for my sides I got sweet potato hash, and lobster mashed potatoes. My wife got the Tuscan chicken and it was very good. My aunt picked the pork chop, and my uncle got the short ribs. My big gripe with the entire thing was that the waiter asked if we wanted the lobster bisque or a salad with our entrée. The way he worded it, it made it seem like it came with the meal. When we received the check, we were charged $ 9 for each bowl of soup. The total for 4 of us, with 1 drink apiece, and no dessert was $ 198. I don’t feel like the experience or the food was worth $ 50 apiece. I will have to seriously consider whether or not I come back.

Great first experience. The potato crusted cod and the grouper Oscar was absolutely to die for. The best part of the meal was the banana brûlée cheesecake of the day. This place was great for a company banquet. They served around 40 of us. The service was outstanding and the food was amazing. I can’t wait to come back and try the full menu.

You’re paying for appearances and the expensive silverware. There’s really nothing amazing about Grille 29. My husband and I went for our anniversary, and while the atmosphere and appearance of the place is of a 4-star restaurant, the food is equivalent to that of Logan’s steak house. In fact, I think Steakout’s steaks are better. I ordered macaroni and cheese and creamed spinach for my sides. I’ve eaten better. We spent over $ 100 on dinner and were underwhelmed. At the very least, service was exceptional and our waiter was tipped generously.

So everything you should expect from a 25 $ lunch experience located in a hip part of town. Area boasts a variety of restaurants for foodies and hipsters but this is the most sophisticated. Had the lobster bisque to start. This was flavored perfectly with just the right amount of fresh lobster meat. It was thinner than I am used too but in a good way. I chose the crab cake sliders as my entrée with a side of fries. Service was great!

Been coming here since they opened and I must say I’ve always enjoyed every visit… which has to be into the dozens at this point. First, I used to come here exclusively for the Grouper Oscars, then u realized Unilocalers were right… thr steaks here are nice. Like… really nice. The cowboy ribeye is massive… but with just enough fat marbled through to really make it flavorful. The NY strip is nice as well. Aside from the heavies, there’s a wine broth mussels appetizer that’s great. Also look for Oberon on the wine list… one of the few spots around town that carries this deep but approachable cab sauv. The lobster bisque is hit or miss… with more misses than hits. But the cheese and charcuterie board is actually surprisingly delightful and rivals placements I’ve seen in bigger markets. Speaking(albeit loosely) of markets… I think grill 29 is a great place for brunch in Huntsville, especially considering the limited options for brunch. Dropped by today for a quick lunch(strange for me, I know) and had a nice special: stuffed tilapia over fettuccine with Grape tomatoes and fresh parsley. For tilapia(which I don’t really like), I must say this was impressive.

This place is good, but the quality of the food is never quite good enough to live up to the Huntsville«Best Restaurant» hype. If you actually go to quality, seasonal, non-chain restaurants outside of the state of Alabama, Grille 29 is only mediocre at best. In the past four years, I’ve been twice for dinner, and few other times only for dessert and salad. I was not impressed in 2011 for my first visit, but I couldn’t quite identify why. Coming back(for dinner) three years later, I felt the same way. Everything(relating to food) was just«Ok». The menu is boring. The bread is boring. The food doesn’t taste bad, but(you guessed it)…is boring. Not memorable. The only item on the menu that I will consistently vouch for is the Warm Sour Cream Fudge Cake. It is, and always has been absolutely divine. Never burnt, always warm, always decadent(the Vanilla Bean ice cream tastes like something I can pick up from the grocery store, but it accompanies the cake quite well). The cake drove my entire decision to visit again. On a positive note, the service is and always has been awesome, the atmosphere is cozy, and the silverware and dishes are clean. Overall, it’s an okay place. Just don’t go expecting your mind blown(unless of course, you don’t get out much).

The BESTSIRLOIN in the Tennessee Valley /North Alabama area! And until someone proves me otherwise, this is where we’ll be coming for top grade sirloin in the southeast! ATMOSPHERE&AMBIANCE Tucked in the flourishing Village of Providence is this classy restaurant w many palatable menu items to choose from. We came here on a Sunday afternoon for a retirement celebration for one of our accomplished friends in the defense industry. We were pleasantly greeted at the entrance and immediately escorted to the reserved area with our private party. The french doors opened up as we approached the room w glee-filled faces — many familiar and some not which is expected at such gatherings. The social butterfly in me was excited and ready to mingle! 8D Among the 75 or so people present, we immediately spotted the honoree and made our way to congratulate her before diving into the Hors doeuvres nestled nearby. It was a beautiful setting and restaurant choice for a retirement party. The reserved room had the right amount of natural light radiating through the windows on one side to create a warm ambiance. The noise level was medium which seemed comparable to the rest of the restaurant. Although this was our first time here, I knew this wasn’t going to be our last. SERVICE There were 3 lead wait staff members assigned to assist our private party along w a couple more wait staff ready nearby to assist. All were top notch on their game — pleasant, friendly, attentive, and efficient from the time we walked thru the doors, to taking our orders, to serving each delightful course, to packing our leftovers and desserts to go. Not one mishap at our table of 8. FOOD The Hors doeuvres included Fresh Jumbo Gulf Shrimp served w cocktail sauce and lemon. The other choice in which I don’t recall the name of but I loved the presentation. It was a piece of cucumber cut to the size of and presented like a sushi roll. It had what I recall diced tuna, diced carrots, and other diced vegetables mixed in the center. It was lovely and flavorful. Oh how I wanted to break out my iphone and take a picture but my phone was to it’s capacity in photos at the time. 8/I digress. The customized 5×7 menu w the honoree’s name and event printed on the top included 2 different salads to choose from, 3 different entrees, and 2 different desserts. Hubby & I chose the following: SALAD29 — We both started off w the same choice — the popular Salad 29. Freshly tossed spinach, chunky pieces of gorgonzola, candied toasted walnuts, sliced apples, chopped celery, tomatoes, and topped off oh so lightly w balsamic vinaigrette. The salad was served in a crunchy half tortilla bowl. I didn’t eat the tortilla bowl, but I devoured the healthy delicious salad. The candied walnuts were not overly sweet as many can be. The whole salad made my tummy sing happy songs. I could eat this all day long! ;P Hubby finished his salad AND my tortilla bowl and was pleased. SLICEDSIRLOIN W MUSHROOMRAGOUT — My sirloin was served perfectly medium(as requested) paired w mouthwatering yukon gold garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed haricot verts. I can’t recall the last time I’ve enjoyed a juicy sirloin such as the one here at Grill 29. It was top grade and generous in portion! The meat practically melted in my mouth — it exceeded my expectations. SCOTTISHSALMONBRULÉE — Hubby’s choice for the occasion. The salmon was broiled to perfection and crusted w a brown sugar glaze. This savory entrée came with fresh seasoned vegetables, white corn cheese grits, and caramelized baby onions. We shared our dishes, and although this was hubby’s dish, I’d say this was a close winning contender to my dish. It’s a must try dish here! TIRAMISUTOWER — This was a gorgeous presentation that one might prefer to admire vs devour. But what’s a dessert if you don’t enjoy it with a loved one, right?! This, by far, was the best Tiramisu not only in presentation, but also in texture, smoothness, and taste. Beautifully multi-tiered and decorated w an espresso anglaise spread on the base of the dish and a handful of chocolate mocha beans christened throughout, and topped off w a thick rich velvety dark chocolate. It was superb in taste and presentation! BLUEBERRYCHEESECAKE — A thick slice of creamy Blueberry Cheesecake. We actually had this packed up to go after completely consuming our other dessert. Eaten at home or in the restaurant, this was equally just as delicious and enjoyed in the comforts of our home later that night. If I wasn’t watching my intake, I’d have this every morning for breakfast w a strong cup of Vietnamese coffee. Simply delicious creamy piece of cheesecake with fresh berries within the bottom layer. VERDICT&RETURN Without a doubt, we had an enjoyable experience for our first visit, and it won’t be our last! We plan to return for future date nights or a sunny afternoon lunch. Highly recommended!

After spending over 4 months working in Huntsville, Grill 29 was a nice find and change from all of the restaurants off University and all of the chain restaurants. When it is a night day out, the outside patio is a great place to dine while people watching. The menu its self was decent. One really wouldn’t think of getting fresh scallops in Huntsville, but Grille 29 delivered. While grits aren’t really my thing, the grits were well cooked and tasty. If I happen to be in the area again, Grille 29 will be on my list if I am looking for a good meal.
