Who doesn’t love a good deal? How about a cool SUP board? A good steal? A store well organized? That’s what you’ll find here at Marshall’s in the Carl T. Jones area. Since moving to Northern Alabama from SoCal, long gone are the days of kayaking and SUP(stand up paddle) boarding on the Pacific Ocean or on the calm waters of Lake Mission Viejo with a big group of friends on a sunny afternoon. Hubby and I never thought we’d have a need for certain things when we packed up our bags and relocated southeast. Moving prompted change, and change meant getting rid of all kinds of things… stuff we didn’t need, valuables collecting dust, art pieces or furnishings that just weren’t our style any longer, and stuff that could be of better use to someone else. Many were tossed, many donated, many given away to friends, many sadly left behind. One big item I somewhat regret giving away now was my surf board(yes, I «gave it away!» can u believe it?). I gave it away to a dear loyal friend thinking that I’d have no use for it here in the south. Boy, do I miss it. :(It never occurred to me in the midst of cleaning house back then and prepping to move here that I could have used the surf board as wall décor in one of the guest rooms. Oh well, I digress. 8/I know my friend is enjoying his surfboard now. 8) Today, the memories of paddle boarding came flooding back in clearly. While on a mission today to find some lounge chairs for the upcoming 3-day weekend, I see across the isles of the store what appears to be a SUP board standing tall calling my name. Whaaaaaaat? A SUP board in Marshall’s? What a gem! Found a super cool SUP board w a unique design. This wasn’t just some plastic blow up board as some newbies may prefer. It’s the real deal — a nose rider 9.5′ Pau Hana SUP board, perfect for standing waves in the river, ocean surfing, and steady & wide enough for yoga on the water. The Pau Hana Oahu board has a cool EVA pad design on top of the bamboo flat deck, 3 fins below w a customizable 5-box setup, and is designed by Todd Caranto — a fellow Filipino, Pacific Islander, who now resides in SoCal. This SUP is a stealer deal! Retails normally for over $ 1200, but Marshall’s has it for a whopping $ 799.99. That’s crazy good! Had we not picked up a kayak recently from nearby Dick’s Sporting Goods, this SUP board would have been on the roof of my vehicle on its way home. If it’s still there next week, it’s coming home! This is just one example of the cool finds here at Marshall’s. Who would have thought you could find a decent SUP in Marshall’s? Lol. Gotta rethink that one now. ;D Good deals coupled w friendly customer service and an organized, spacious, and well laid out atmosphere, you’ll be sure to find some unique treasures hidden here at this Marshall’s location in Carl T. Jones.
