The best place for Cajun food in Huntsville. I had the Scruffy special with the shrimp po boy. One of the best sandwiches I’ve had, it brought flashbacks of New Orleans. Try their hot sauce instead of tartar it’s great on the sandwich and fries.

One my first tastes of cajun creole New Orleans cuisine actually came in the form of a Shrimp Po Boy in Huntsville, AL. I actually found the Po Boy Factory on tripadvisor, if you can believe it or not. True story. I was driving back to Huntsville, AL after a day of sightseeing up and down the I-65 corridor on a nice casual Tuesday on the last day of May 2016. It was great since I got to do plenty of stuff, but regret not leaving Huntsville earlier in the morning. Oh well. After arriving back into Huntsville, I remembered the Po Boy Factory and found the directions for them and Siri lead the way. I arrived here around 6:45pm and i was glad that they were still open. They were open till about 9pm, I believe so that was definitely a plus when it came to dining in the Deep South. I came here around 7:30pm and happy that they were open. The dining room was not really busy, but the kitchen was buzzing along anyway. I opted for take out, which was the norm for me. Probably could have dined in but wanted to get back to my friend’s house for the night. The overall experience here at the Po Boy Factory was swift, brief, and pretty good. Only thing that was my fault was that I didn’t check my order when I got it and left. Found out afterwards when I started to dig into the meal when the cup of jambalaya I had ordered was missing. Oh well. I probably could have done without it and the extra calories anyhow. With that said, the meal itself was relatively good, as the shrimp po boy was delicately made by the skilled hands of the folks of the Po Boy Factory. The Po Boy Factory is located at 1234 Main street in Huntsville, AL, kind of off the main drag, but still close to the interstate and close enough to pretty much anything in Huntsville, relatively speaking. They accept major credit cards, which often the greatest thing ever, since cash only makes it an extra trip to the nearest ATM machine. There is a small private lot for parking purposes, so at 7:30pm on a random Tuesday night was nice and the lot wasn’t even full. If it was, there was plenty of street parking nearby. The prices here are generally competitive, with the Po boy specialties go around $ 10. I guess that’s a standard price for sure. The restaurant itself was kind of small, with 2 rooms for an interesting and worthwhile dining experience. One was near the entrance, while the other was near the kitchen. I did enjoy the ambiance of this place, with the décor rather an interesting touch. The aura of New Orleans was here in Huntsville for sure. With the shrimp po boy on tap, I also ordered the Cajun fries on the side and the missing cup of jambalaya. I had a bottle of wine that I had bought at the nearby Walmart earlier, so it was a feast that was set for a Tuesday night while hanging out with friends. The Po boy itself was decidedly average, but delicious. I knew going into this that the slice of Louisiana cooking was here 2 states away was an interesting proposition, but I am glad that it was a good investment. The Cajun fries were actually better than I expected and tasted getter than the usual McDonald’s and Burger King fast food fare. Along With the Pinot noir I had bought earlier, the wine mixed with the Po boy made it a taste that was surely a fantasy come to life! The Po boy factory here in Huntsville AL is fairly good and provides a service to those who love New Orleans, but don’t want to fly or drive there to get some of the cuisine made famous over there. Regardless of your preferences in Louisiana Cajun creole cuisine or just have a craving for the stuff, Best believe that you should come here for a sampling. You may actually enjoy it. I know I did and hope to come back for more, if my travels permit me to do so one day soon. 4 stars! Recommended. Support local! B

After waiting 45 minutes for our meal the waitress brought one of our plates out and we had to wait another ten minutes for the other one. There was a hair in my fries. It was cooked in so it was not a random hair. We were offered no discount for the hair. Just an I’m sorry. The po boy was mostly bread and tomato and the fish was bland. Never going back.

Best Cajun food in Huntsville and Tennessee Valley!!! The bread is fresh and brought in from a bakery in Louisiana. Gulf seafood and the best crawfish étouffée !

Man, just great food here. Got the shrimp Po Boy and had plenty of Hot Damn Sauce. Awesome. Treat yourself to the Key Lime Pie at the end, it was the perfect way to end the meal.

The only thing ‘bad’ I can about this place? is that the aren’t open 7 days! Open Tuesday thru Saturday. I can’t even come CLOSE in describing how great the spicy sausage sandwich is. And you MUST put their special sauce on it — omg, delicious!

Excellent Po’Boys and New Orleans dishes. We were visiting from out of town last week and went there for lunch, based on the Unilocal reviews. It was excellent. You might need a little patience to wait on lunch for lunch but the food was great and they have a nice beer selection. This is a little bit of a dive, but that adds to the experience. It was clean, the food was amazing and the waitress was friendly. Excellent fried oyster Po Boy!

My favorite place for Poboys and fries and fried pickles! The shrimp poboy is my favorite with plenty of their Special Hot Damn Sauce. To get a more diverse choice of foods, try the Scruffy’s Special and get the jambalaya or red beans & rice with a shrimp poboy. You’ll be glad you did!

You get the quality and authenticity of a true Louisiana po boy. The bread, which makes or breaks a po boy, was exactly as I hoped it would be. They just landed a new regular customer. Also, don’t forget to get the Cajun fries and a side of hot damn sauce.

We had heard the Po Boy Factory had good crawfish but had never tried them. Among us a college kid who grew up in Louisanna and loves crawfish. We nor he were not disappointed. He said they were every bit as good as those back in Lousiana. They were excellent. Only recommendation would be to cook the potatoes and corn with the crawfish to add some good Cajun favor to them. My wife had the fried oyster Po Boy which she said was excellent as always.

Po Boy’s position in the top ten of Huntsville’s top restaurants is well deserved. Their menu selections is diverse with something for everyone. The food is amazing and the staff is fine-tuned to handle the large crowds they draw. That being said, get there early or be prepared to wait. You won’t be disappointed by a trip to the Po Boy Factory and you’ll be supporting local small business.

This is my favorite place in Huntsville. Bread from New Orleans. Awesome fried shrimp and the hot damn sauce is to die for. This place is Cajun straight out of the bayou. It’s a must stop if you’re in the area! Tried the fried scallops, grilled shrimp, or any of the poboys!

I adore this place! What’s not to love ?! The décor is a little bit dive-y and screams Mardi Gras and Louisiana. Everything is served in paper, plastic, or styrofoam. Get here early, or you can experience a wait. The pictures on the walls are great to look at and the service is fast! Now for the food, I have yet to get anything bad from this place! The bread for the Po boys are so fresh and soft but yet crispy. It is definitely the best place in Huntsville for a Po Boy. The best deal of the entire menu, to me, is the Scruffy’s Special. 5 inches of your favorite Po Boy, a cup of your choice gumbo, étouffée, jambalaya, or red beans and rice, fries and a drink for $ 10.99/$ 11.99. The Crawfish Po Boy is amazing. The crawfish are perfectly breaded with great seasoning, served on the hot toasty soft french bread with lettuce, tomato, and tarter sauce(homemade), there is nothing that can make this better. Except of course Hot Damn Sauce. The # 1 reason you need to experience Po Boy Factory is Hot Damn Sauce. Trust me. Spicy mayo type sauce that is good on every single item you can get. It is heaven in your mouth. Étouffée is the other reason, besides the Hot Damn Sauce, I come to Po Boy Factory. The roux is mastered to perfection and has great depth and flavor. Served in a small cup with rice at the bottom, best way to take this up a notch is add some Hot Sauce. My Husband loves the Blackened Mahi Mahi Po Boy and the Cajun Fries. The have everything from Cheeseburger Po Boys to Chicken Finger baskets, so even the pickiest of eater can enjoy some Po Boy Factory. Overall, my experience has always been amazing here. I will continue to come back!

One of my favorite restaurants when I am in town. I always get a shrimp basket. Husband likes the red beans and rice and po boy with shrimp and oysters. My favorite thing is the pink sauce and would use it on seafood and even the fries. It is a casual cajun place with throw away paper in the basket but don’t let that stop you from coming here. Family owned restaurant with tv’s and mardi gras and college sports decorations.

This is one of my favorite places in Huntsville. It’s a «mom and pop» New Orleans themed restaurant. The food is SO good. I have had the grilled Mahi Mahi blackened, the fried grouper, the oyster po boys and everything is always hot, perfectly cooked and quickly made to order. As a tea connoisseur I can also vouch for theirs. They have an awesome $ 5 hand formed patty cheeseburger(fries included!!) So if you thought of going through the drive thru some-where think again! They do call ahead orders so if you’re in a hurry take advantage of that. Great job guys!

Love, love, love The Po Boy Factory! Great food, decently priced, and a great staff. I’m not a fish person but I always get the blackened mahi mahi basket. We eat here at least twice a month. We will definitely keep coming back.

Good food. Moderately friendly staff but a little harried when we were there due to sickness? The apparent owner seemed to be in a rush and had little time to bother with us. He wasn’t exactly rude but for the money I’ll go elsewhere.

Solid cajun food. Just get it to go, or keep your eyes on your plate as you eat. As a regular traveler to New Orleans, I really appreciate the authentic dishes here, but the ambience doesn’t exactly call upon the charm and taste of the French Quarter. The gumbo is very good. Jambalaya is pretty good as well. I never stray too far off the main road on this menu just because, as a cajun restaurant, I go for the traditional stuff. I’m never disappointed. Service here is always very good as well. I’ve never been when it wasn’t busy and the staff is always good at handling the rush. Overall, as long as you understand that you’re a long way from The Quarter in both taste and(particularly) in look and feel, you’ll be fine here. Good food, but not great, but if you’re in the mood for cajun cooking, you could do a lot worse.

Loved visiting New Orleans and while not exactly the same, was pretty close. Started off with a nice bowl of Helen’s gumbo, followed by awesome fried green beans. And like its namesake, had to go with a combo po boy — fried grouper and fried oyster! Gumbo was loaded with ingredients like okra, shrimp and crawfish tails. The fried green beans could be dipped in one of their various sauces. The batter wasn’t too heavy and had a great flavor without any sauces. The fish and oysters were good, but then again everything tastes good fried! Topped off with traditional sweet tea, was one of my best meals while visiting the Huntsville area. Would definitely come back and try a different combo from their huge menu.

I made the mistake of having my first po boy experience at Parkway Tavern in New Orleans and it was the best thing I ate on that trip. Now every one I have ordered since then has failed to measure up. Po boy factory was not a bad experience, but definitely not top tier. The breading on the shrimp was thin, flaking off, and needed seasoning and the French bread had no substance(and was dry). My experience in the south has been that it is difficult to find good bread and bakeries. My husbands jerk chicken was pretty bland. The location is great and the atmosphere of the restaurant was fun. It wasn’t a terrible experience by any means, but with all the other food options in Huntsville we probably will not return.

We’ve been to Po Boy Factory many, many times, but hadn’t been there in a while when we went a week ago. The food was still excellent, no complaints there. The best grilled shrimp in town, in my opinion. The wait staff was just as good as the food; friendly and reliable. When we first started going the décor was eclectic and fun. However, now the restaurant is run down, dirty, and just plain nasty. It’s not clean, the floor is filthy and the chairs are torn up and stained. There was food on the kitchen floor, a lot of it. It was gross. They seem to still be doing very well, I wish they’d gut the place and clean it up. There health food rating was not where customers could see it. Maybe they could call Robert Irvine of Restaurant Impossible or the guy from Hell’s Kitchen. The place needs a serious overhaul. Please? We want to go back but won’t until they clean it up.

We had the Sloppy fries which were out of this world… I could take that roast beef and put it on a shoe and it would be good :)… We had a basket with shrimp and catfish which were cooked to perfection. The service was FAST which to two hungry ladies after driving from Atlanta was a welcomed attraction.

The food was out of this world. I ended up with the Club Po-Boy, and I really enjoyed it. My husband got the Seafood Platter, and he said it was amazing. But the star of our dinner was the appetizer, Sloppy Fries(roast beef over fries with cheese). If you come here, you must try the sloppy fries… Delicious! Amazing service. Our waiter, Steve, was warm, friendly, and he made great suggestions. The other staff members were friendly too, but Steve was beyond great. Easy to access. We’re in Huntsville for the Space Center, and this isn’t far at all. Very easy to find for us directionally challenged out-of-towners. Simply put, this place exceeded our expectations, and we will definitely be back the next time we’re in the area. And… The prices were very reasonable.

We had lunch here today I had a roast beef po boy and my friend had the grouper sandwich. Both were wonderful. My roast beef was extremely messy, but great flavor. We also tried red beans and rice which were really good. All in all a good solid 4… service was good, friendly and prompt. It’s a quirky place with good atmosphere and the food was great!
